This is a hidden gem in the middle of the cesspool that is the Crescent. If you're brave enough to navigate through the crack whores and toothless wonders that occupy the neighborhood, head on down to Koh Thai Tapas. Ask for a table at the window so you can watch a never ending parade of chavs stumble past your table as you delight in some red curry with chicken, a dish I really enjoyed and highly recommend. My date for the evening had the tofu fried rice, and while I object to eating tofu on principle, I must admit that her dinner was quite delicious.
Some evenings feature live music courtesy of a bloke on a stool with a guitar and a microphone. Typically I would walk out of an establishment as soon as I saw the microphone and PA, but we were hungry and--let's face it--it's not safe to be put wandering after dark in the Crescent looking for an alternative restaurant. Imagine my pleasant surprise that the bloke was both talented and not too loud.
If you fancy an opportunity to enjoy a scrumptious meal whilst seeing the recipients of your taxes stumble by, watching the minutes tick by in their meaningless lives, all whilst separated by just a pane of glass, Thai Tapas is the place to do it. read more
