This hidden gem has the best italian food. I am super picky and this food was to die for! Everything was delicious. By far one of the best meals I have ever eaten!

Cafe Torino
Jack W.

From time to time, since July 2016, I have eaten at Cafe Torino's. Their food has always been excellent, be it breakfast (scrambled eggs & bacon with bread), lunch, or dinner. Many times there is a large crowd in a small area at their tables, similar to a cafe in Italy. Outside seating is available. I arrived, with reservations, at 1pm for an inside table. I was surprised that all but one of their inside tables were taken as well as two outside tables. I was not expecting this large a crowd for a Thursday. I do recommend that you call to make reservations, especially for lunch and dinner. Cafe Torino stayed busy and also there were several people coming in for their called in takeaway order. I had the Reuben sandwich which comes with a bag of potato chips and I also had a glass of tea. Reuben is my go to sandwich order at a cafe or restaurant and I have never been disappointed at Cafe Torino. Their Reuben is on toasted focaccia bread with the usual corned beed, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and dressing. This was the best focaccia bread I have eaten. I was so surprised at how well balanced all the ingredients were. At other restaurants and cafes I have been served a Reuben sandwich that had too much of or not enough of the various ingredients and of course the Reuben did not have focaccia bread. I was surprised and disappointed that I could find no complaints with my Reuben. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich, which was also on focaccia bread with a garden salad and iced tea. She was very pleased with the taste and quantity of chicken salad. She is also a lover of focaccia bread. The garden salad was the normal type you receive as a side. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and look forward to another meal at Cafe Torino.

Mushroom and black truffle pasta! Too die for!

I have lived in a culpeper for almost 9 years and have never been here. My husband and I went for lunch and boy oh boy, I'm so mad I haven't been sooner. We had the best service by the owners son and another young man. The mushroom/black truffle pasta was HANDS DOWN the best I've ever had. The bread? Whewwweee, so so good! My husband had the chicken Parmesan. Everything was so fresh and you can tell they put so much care into their food. I ended up leaving with a key lime pie and salted caramel cookies. TOO DIE FOR AS WELL! We will be back, no doubt.

Cafe Torino gluten free birthday cake

Their birthday cakes are like a big city Italian bakery. They are as beautiful and delicious as New York bakeries. My daughter needs gluten free (gf) and their's does not make anyone miss the gluten. The owner and his wife are very sweet and accommodating of special requests. I plan on supporting this Cafe as item as possible to ensure they stay open, profitable and local.

OMG! Fast, fresh, and fabulous describes the team and food here. Ordered the Salmon BLT. It was filled with fish and all the favors complimented well. My son ordered linguine marinara with meat balls. Everything was so fresh. Noodles homemade and the sauce was made from scratch. The bread complimented the meal perfect. My son who is a very picky eater licked the plate. Definitely recommend this place. Now for desert.

We ordered our entrees, I ordered the eggplant parmigiana, one diner ordered the chicken Limone, and the rest of the table ordered Linguine vognole (clams). Everything was awesome!! Whether I'm there for brunch, lunch, or dinner, I have to order the mussels in garlic white wine sauce every single time. I still haven't found mussels that beat Trattoria's, and I've tried quite a few, even in Maine. If you're indecisive about your entrée, don't worry. I promise, no matter what you order, you're going to love it. The pasta is freshly made, and you can truly taste the difference. Their espresso martinis are also one of a kind. The staff is always attentive, welcoming, and makes the whole experience feel special. From the outside, the restaurant may look small, but once you're inside, there are different rooms, multiple floors, and even an outdoor dining area that feels like it transports you straight to the streets of Sicily. This place is truly Italy on a budget, and if you get addicted like I did, don't say I didn't warn you.

When I called, they were not super busy and the hostess easily reserved us a table for our arrival. I ordered their signature dish, the homemade tagliatelle with Bolognese...I have to say that I was disappointed by the Bolognese. It wasn't made with the traditional beef/veal/pork mixture. It was made with an Italian spiced sausage. The flavor of the Italian sausage dominates the dish. It's too strong. I hope management reads this and possibly makes a change. The rest of the food was good as usual. Our server did a good job.

Burrata Caprese was very flavorful with the perfect amount of salt and peppers and the sauces combination was great. Bronzino special was great, sauce was so good and veggies were still crunchy. You'll see some criticism in this review and maybe wonder if a 5 is really warranted. First of all,…read morethis is the best restaurant I've been to in Manassas. It might be the best Italian restaurant I've been to outside the beltway. So while they could do a couple things better, yes, I think 5 is the right number and we will be back, probably often. We were debating an appetizer and our waiter actually suggested we skip it to save room for dessert. We were there on Valentine's Day after all. We were originally going to start with 2 different salads and again our waiter informed us that 1 salad between the two of us would be enough. A restaurant NOT upselling? What? The salad was delicious. Lightly dressed and everything on it was fresh. We got the arugula and fennel salad and that's a combination I really enjoy. The bread service was also good. The focaccia was maybe a touch overworked if I had to find a negative but the olive oil and pepper to accompany it was a nice simple and relatively healthy way to start the meal. My wife ordered the salmon and I ordered a halibut that was a special. Both dishes had amazing flavor. The potatoes had a smoky flavor and were not overly seasoned so the potatoes flavor came through. I like broccoli, but holy cow I wish I knew what they did to their broccoli to make it taste so good. Really really amazing sides. And the fish was seasoned really well, too, and very fresh. My first complaint comes in at this point, though. Both dishes were a bit over in terms of the doneness of the fish. Still, a great meal but it could have been a little better if the fish had been cooked perfectly. On to dessert. My wife got the semifredo. It's in the restaurants name so you figure it will be good. It was very good. I got the creme brulee. When we asked the waiter what dessert to get, he didn't mention the creme brûlée. But I figured it was a special and so I wouldn't necessarily get to try it again. It was just ok. The custard was good. Slight hint of orange. The the topping was not good. It was over brûléed in spots to the point that it was almost burned and then under cooked in other areas so that the sugar hadn't quite set. The flavor overall was good, but I definitely regret my dessert decision. As I mentioned before the staff were delightful -- not enough words to express how great they were. The decor was upscale. More so than I expected for where the restaurant is located. Lots of touches of wood with understated lighting. It felt really elegant and perfect for a Valentine's Day date.

When we were finally seated, we told the waitress at the top of the night that we had a gluten intolerance in our group. When my friend ordered specifically gluten free pasta, she was served pasta with gluten. This is a serious disease and was absolutely unacceptable and unsafe. We got to send the food back luckily, but by the time it came we were all done eating, and her pasta was undercooked. Additionally, we order two appetizers, they didn't come until significantly after all our entrees. We had to ask multiple times for them to take this off our order, but they refused. After multiple attempts to fix this, we finally got them comped. When we ordered drinks, my friend didn't get her drink until 10 minutes after everyone else got theirs. Overall the staff were very difficult to work with and speak with them. The waitress ended up hiding from us and asked a different server to serve us, even though we were being very even tempered and reasonable with all our requests. Through all of this, the food was good (minus the gluten spike) and the ambiance was nice. Becuase of all these mistakes, multiple mistakes, I just cannot recommend coming here. We tried to be so patient, but I just cannot with this service. I think the servers name was Jasmine, but I'm not sure. Should out to the wonderful hostess though! She was great and very sweet.
