Huguette B. Aug.04,2026…read more From our trip to Calgary from Vancouver ,we stopped by the store for two pies to bring to our son. I should have check the bill right away as it had an unwarranted charge of a tip of 30% that I did not agree to($13. 00 dollars for two pies). The final bill for two pies $65.00 dollars instead of $52.00. They were good but not for that price. And to make matters worst, on our trip back to Vancouver, we stopped on August 04 ,the store was closed. Why ?? The holiday was the 3rd not the 4th. This was the second time that this unorthodox closure has affected us. I just dont understand that during a busy TOURIST season that you would do this. And because of this rationale we will not be buying your products anymore. we did stop because family and friends were asking and at the same time ,I would have asked about the tip charge on my previous visit ..if that is a usual practice to add a tip like this over the counter purchase. Totally disappointed in Shuswap Pie Company.

If I was asked what to recommend to firstcomers, they should try the Spaniard Benedict, the Grown Up Grilled Cheese and their Daily Specials, which is always different from their menu. When you first arrive there are two parts to the restaurant. One part is just for food and the other is for cake and desserts. We knew we wanted food so we went to the entrance on the right. The menu is quite simple and they specialize on French pastries/breakfast items. I got the Westcoast Montreal Bagel. They really nailed it. I love the smoke salmon in it along with the alfalfa. The bagel was made the Montreal way. It was nice and chewy. It had the right texture. I loved it. B had the large poutine. It was a bit peppery but that was very tasty. They were very generous on the cheese curd which was really nice. Seating can be hard to find given the restaurant isn't very big. There are seatings outside as well. Most people eat and then leave. We ended up sitting on the sofa with the fireplace which was not bad. We do prefer a normal table that was ok for us. I tried a piece of my friend's sticky bun and that was very tasty as well. It is kind of messy to eat. So far the items I tried were tasty. They do have street parking and parking lot dedicated to their customer.

The same French guy was there every day, cranking out the crepes and playing French tunes, so I assume he was the owner (?) The menu was small but sufficient, with an offering of both savory and sweet crepes. I tried the ham, cheese and egg, as well as the smoked salmon crepe with spinach, cream cheese and capers.
