    Bitterballen

Came here after a long cold day of shopping- decent choice of beers/snacks! This is in an old church- so, that explains why there are statues of "Jesus and Mary" looking at you! Odd, but the bitterballen made up for all of that! They were warm, comforting and surprisingly delicious!

On my first night in The Netherlands, my friends brought me to this place on a mild Thursday night after we had dinner at a nearby burger joint. The place was crowded as hell as it looked as if there weren't an open seat in the house. This was more of a night cap situation and we just wanted to have one (maybe two more) beer lol. We walked around to see if there was an available seat for 3 in the place and in the main area there was nothing. We stumbled upon a little area away from the huge main room. There were a couple of girls saying they were expecting some friends to join and we told them we would not be long. They said sure, go for it. We grabbed those seats with the quickness as others were looking around for places to snag. We instantly ordered and by luck of just skimming through the menu, I drank the best beer that I've had in 2018 thus far. I got the Deugniet which is a Abbey Tripel beer by Brasserie Du Bocq, a brewery in Purnode-Yvoir...simply delicious is what this beer was. I decided to have 2 of them. We were having a good time and our server was very cool. He laughed at me for awhile because he saw my excitement over the awesome beer I was drinking. The gals that let us take the seats friends' started rolling in so we wanted to be respectful and give up the seats and headed on home. I would love to come back here the next time in the area. I heard this place used to be a church....fascinating!

I am giving this place 5 stars just for the amazing atmosphere. This is where all the locals hang out and it's amazing. A converted church that serves 75 different kinds of Belgium beers.

Amazing service!! Hands down best service I've received since arriving. The food and drinks were also amazing, I had the Coffee Complete which is amazing, you get liquer, coffee, chocolates and a cookie, completely fantastic! For food we split the Cheese fondue and had a bread plate, it was very delicious, highly recommend the cheese fondue! The french fries in the cheese fondue are the best part! Totally can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu. Our server was completely attentive and knowledgeably recommended additional beers to my friend.

What can I say about this place.... It is located next to the exit of Hoog Catherijne. When you walk past it, you do see that it is a bar, but the outside only makes you think it is a regular bar. However, when you get inside, you find out the place actually used to be a church. They left most of the details in place and it just looks stunning. The staff was super helpful to us: one waitress saw that we were looking for a place to sit, but we couldn't see one available. She quickly looked in the computer system and told us that there should be a place available on the first floor, next to the organ. Really happy she did point us to this free table, as the atmosphere here is just great!!! This place has a lot of beers... Going through the menu that was on the table, the majority of the pages were about different beers, each with a separate and very clear description. Unfortunately for me, I was the designated driver for the day, so no beers for me. However, I did see some familiar names in the list of beers and for sure can recommend all of those I knew (and probably the ones I don't know are also good there :) )

Talk about beer heaven! There wasn't one Belgian beer I could imagine that wasn't available. The bar staff was knowledgable and super friendly! Food is simple but very good, particularly this Belgian fries! In all a great experience in a super location!

Fun and beautiful beer café in Utrecht located in a church. This place is very charming and the staff is friendly. There are many different beers on tap and even more on bottle. Ask the staff for recommendations if you're not sure what to get because they can tell you what suits your taste. Good place for something to eat as well. The prices are bistro like and the food is al Belgian inspired. I had the Salmon with veggies and fries and it tasted good, but there were a lot of bones in the fish, which was not so nice. Still, I really like this place and the fries were perfect. Real Belgian fries and delicious mayonnaise as well. This is a nice place to go to when in Utrecht. For a meal or for drinks, its both pleasant.

What an awesome place to be during the world cup games! My friends and I ate here on my last night in Netherlands and I was very much pleased. The setting is an old church turned into a beer hall. There were a couple screens showing the games. The ambience was generally loud but overall, perfect last night. First of all, I have to suggest getting the house beer olivier tripel. It's brewed by them and its worth it. Otherwise, they have a large selection of tap and bottle beers available. We started off by sharing the salad with goat cheese. It was so fresh! The honey with the goat cheese was so delicious that I wanted to lick off all the remnants from the plate! We also tried the Ham on the bone, Salmon Steak, Grandpa's stew and Roasted Chicken. Everything was savory and the portion was just right. After picking at my friend's plates, I would have to go with the Ham on the bone as my favorite. It was moist and tender. Service was okay for Europe. Coming from America, I'm used to speediness of wait staff. Here, they let you enjoy your meal and when you're ready, you should ask to pay rather than expecting them to bring the check to you.

Yay! I am so glad this new place opened, only a week ago. When I heard of this new place I got…read moreexcited immediately Because this a vegan brewpub! Yes! Beer and food! And it is all vegan! I have never heard of such a place before, and I guess there might not be a lot in the world. We are lucky to have it within 30-minutes driving distance. I decided not to go there on the opening weekend, because it might be busy or they might have some start-up issues. That was a wise choice: my friend told me the place was completely overcrowded the first weekend. That made me happy because it is great that people are interested in this new concept. The next weekend we went. The place is located outside the city center, in a big industrial space. It is huge because the brewing proces and the pub are both located in the same big space, which is fun because if you come early, like we did, you can see the guys brew the beers. I loved it all. The beers were good (only had a few sips though because I needed to drive), the space was cool, the people were super friendly, the prices were decent and the food....was AWESOME! Very, very tasty and nice dishes. The burger was very good, and the potatoes that came with it were also awesome. The bite I tried from the tempeh skewers were also very good. The dessert was just okay, and a bit expensive, though this did not even matter to me so much anymore because everything else was just so nice. I will definitely be back!

My hubby said fish. I thought chips. So fish and chips it was. But where? I looked at google maps and found a Brewery nearby. Nothing screams fish and chips like a brewery combined with a restaurant right? Wrong. But in a lovely surprising way. Because Oproer doesn't like the old adagio that "beer and meat" are basically each others twins, like salt 'n pepper, They'd like to change that into beer and vegan meals. Quite cool! Next to beers, they have a big variety in biological fruit drinks. I ordered a lemon/ginger lemonade and it was great. My love tried their beer and loved it. Many IPA's on the menu by the way. It's a cool place in an old industrial hall. Very rock'n'roll & vegan. We had a great appetizer, warm fresh bread with a beet dip. We read that the bread was actually made from the left overs from the brewing process. Neat! Our main was the Burgerine: a aduki bean burger topped with aubergine and a vegan mayonaise, with garlic broiled taters on the side and some salad. It was really good, loved the flavors! The waitress tried to interest us in their new desert: tiramisu with cashew instead of mascarpone and tofu! Unfortunately, it had just a wee bit of alcohol in it and I didn't dare to do that to our baby. So. We must be back. And we will. Because this is a great place and it reminds us of our "youth" hanging around in rock bars. Just the thing we like!

Chicken supereme and tasty beers! What more could a guy want on a Friday night? Fun and busy…read moreambiance? Check. Authentic and friendly service? Check. A tasty dessert? Check. In a world where gourmet chicken restaurants are becoming staple food and microbrewing is more popular than tennis, its getting hard to distinguish your chicken & beer place from all the others. Luckily, all hipsterism aside, there are still a few places that stick to the core and deliver tasty delicous chicken and not much more. Kloek has its own special method of preparation which guarantees a stable level of quality and a much more lean (the fat doesn't drip of your hands) piece of meat. They pre-cook the chicken ik a spiced broth. This is something that my mom (thanks mom!) has done for ages and although it delivers the good stuff, the meat always ends up dry inside. In case of Kloek, its only a bit dry, but not to a level that you'll be bothered. On the other hand, the flavour is spectacular and its not as fatty as the alternative method. What I also love about this place is that they don't serve fries as standard to your chicken (but coleslaw and salad), which is a concious way to treat your customers and keep the total calory level respectable. The dessert - also delicous, we had the milionnaire shortcake - was also modest in size. Last but not least, I've heard that they are also a microbrewery. I tried their dark blonde beer and it was very good, will definetely help you to moist up that chicken. But make sure you don't have to many as they are very strong (8,5%).

Five star rating for a chicken restaurant from a vegetarian?? *Gasp*…read more Yep, Kloek is just that much fun. We came here about a month ago now for our date night which is something we sometimes need to remind ourselves to do ten years into our relationship and two years into parenthood. Oops! Anyway, we remembered to have a special night and started things off right at Kloek. I wanted to make sure it would be something that the husband would love and what meat eating man doesn't love chicken? I don't know any such man. Kloek certainly delivers with their (so I hear) perfectly moist and wonderfully coloured chicken, super friendly servers and fun, hip vibe. I have to say the even looked tempting to me and I haven't eaten meat in about twelve years. Also, they may only have one vegetarian dish on the menu (so considerate) but it's a great one! I love a good wrap and have learned not to be offended by what europeans think they can pass off as falafel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, G&T, hooray! Loads of microbrews, hooray! Fancy sodas, hooray! Basically, you can just love everything about Kloek. So if you're looking for a fun dinner or even just drinks and snacks, Kloek is definitely something that should be very high up on your to do list.
