Edward served me a local brewed Irish Mac Saint, an unfiltered and in pasteurized beer, and a shot of Method and Madness, a smooth local whiskey. An excellent pairing for a classic pub experience. They sell Thrones T-Shirts and have a stamp for the Journey of Doors Passport (season six) for fans of the show. Apparently fans visit the places with the doors, replaced after the filming of the each location, and have bragging rights. A brilliant way to see the sights of the north coast. Well recommended, we would return.

Then roll over to the Reel Inn (it's just at corner near the bridge) where they have live music every night of the week and usually a good crowd. As a local (or ex-local) going in here for the 1st time I felt like I'd walked into Deliverance (google it), some odd folk from the bogs, townies, rockers, and maybe a few fellas barred from all the other pubs in town, and then mixed in is usually a load of English tourists, and surprisingly it works! Everyone's having the craic, these bog critters are friendly and are trying to wind me up, we'll all supping our drinks and enjoying the music, the tourists are dancing away, and usually it's a great night, and everyone's good and drunk by the end of the night and I mean drunk. Sometimes the music is hit-or-miss, sometimes it's a bit of jam session, other times it's quite good. On quite nights there may not be many musicians there and the owner get's up and play. And both him and the missus are decent friendly folk. I just wish they poured a better Guinness or had a nice Heff-Weisse. ;)

Wide array of interesting items like Venison Pie you will see on the menu here. I did choose the Venison Pie, and it was sweet and tasty. The seafood soup was very good as well and was decorated with a puffy fish and I want to say a mint of some sort put in place of where an eyeball would go, very cute indeed! 5 stars for the Irish music…read more The whiskeys they poured at Peadar O'Donnels were probably the smallest I've had in the UK, and I had plenty of whiskeys during me 3+ weeks traveling there. The sign on the wall, if it was to be believed, made it seem like they were pouring between 18-20ml. Every other bar I had been to either used a 25ml measuring cup or the rare 35ml measuring cup (THE CEILIDH PLACE in Ullapool stands out in my mind as giving out 35ml), but this guy just poured from the bottle into the glass, and indeed it did seem a very wee dram. :) My wife got a beer though, and that was of a normal size. :) If you don't care about the music, I am sure there are plenty of other bars in Derry that can give you a good wee drink.

They are all very knowledgeable about the area and have some amazing stories to tell! The walls of the pub itself also tell a story, with lots of personal photos and trinkets collected over the years by the family. They also serve the best pint of Guinness in the land! It's a great spot to come with a big group of friends, there's loads of space and also a room with a pool table! The pub itself doesn't serve food, but they very kindly allow you to bring food in from the neighbouring takeaway while you enjoy your drinks which is brilliant! Always make sure to drop by when I'm in the area, it's well worth it!
