Blakes is the oldest pub in the county and 149 years, and farthest west giving it the claim to the site of Game of Thrones filming in the sixth season. Edward served me a local brewed Irish Mac Saint, an unfiltered and in pasteurized beer, and a shot of Method and Madness, a smooth local whiskey. An excellent pairing for a classic pub experience. They sell Thrones T-Shirts and have a stamp for the Journey of Doors Passport (season six) for fans of the show. Apparently fans visit the places with the doors, replaced after the filming of the each location, and have bragging rights. A brilliant way to see the sights of the north coast. Well recommended, we would return.

I liked the homely decor and well organised layout. Lots of snug/booth type tables and it seemed busy enough with other customers, but not too packed. Bar staff seemed welcoming. There was a lovely big woodburner fireplace, which looked super cosy on a wet day. They had a specials board for drinks, Daiquiri for £5, 4x jagermisters for £10 etc. We didn't have food, but i enjoyed the nice atmosphere of the bar.

However they decimated the salad with lashings of mayo and over-salted the chips. Service was lukewarm but probably owing to the fact the poor girl had to repeat umpteen times that alcohol will not be served until 5 pm. It was Good Friday when we visited ;-)

This is a traditional old school pub ith lots of little snug areas. There was a great buzz about the place. There are a good few TVs showing different sports football, Rugby and horse racing. There was a slight delay between one screen and another showing the football. This didn't bother me as I was watching the Rugby. Ok place to go for a pint. It has a very cool wine cellar vibe going on which makes the whole dinning experience a little better. The menu was small but good and the food was all really good. The staff was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Since we were traveling a lot when we stopped I was dressed fairly casual and I felt a little underdressed. I would have probably not worn sandals if I was staying someone close and knew a head of time. The staff didn't mind and didn't say anything to me. I think this is a great place to stop for food when visiting the Doors of thrones in Northern Ireland.
