Arriving at 6:40pm, the restaurant was only about halfway filled with a placard at the entrance announcing that this evening's Roast is sliced sirloin. I was hoping for lamb but this will do. I sat by the window with my laptop and used some wifi before and after dinner. My meal arrived after about ten minutes, a good portion with sliced sirloin, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, roasted potatoes and yes, a Yorkshire pudding. A light gravy over all and the only point off is that they did not have any horseradish for the beef. Perfectly cooked, nicely presented and absolutely delicious. Hooray for tradition and thank you, Southern Cross. A lovely Sunday evening meal. [Review 352 of 2024 - 8 in New Zealand - 21385 overall]

When checking out the menu I ordered the green smoothie and the French toast. When our food arrived, they actually brought out a different dish however I told them I ordered the French toast they were extremely apologetic. We went up the pay and the man apologized again and removed my Smoothie from the bill. Highly recommend! Sweet people and friendly atmosphere.

I stay and eat. The food was ok but not the 4+ star food I was expecting. I ordered Potato & Bacon Hash from the menu. It could have been a great dish. The weakness was with the potatoes - they were under seasoned, they were days old from the fridge and barely heated through. Also, a couple came in and sat at a table. They weren't greeted or acknowledged. They sat for a while (no menus, no water) and then left after 5 minutes . Was I the only one who noticed?!? Wait staff eventually cleared my table, asked if I'd like coffee, which I politely declined. Then left me to work out that I needed to go to the counter and pay. Bummer!
