There's not much to the ambiance here since it's mainly an ordering counter for to-go, but we did find patio seating outside. Service is counter service. This was our first hand pie in NZ, and it ended up being at the bottom of my partner's "Hand Pie Rankings" for all of the ones we ate during our NZ trip. We got the creamy chicken pie and found it to be mostly gravy/filling without as much meat or substance than we'd hoped for. Lots of people around us were getting shakes and they looked good if you're in the mood for that. As an American, I'm used to shakes that are served thick enough at least initially to be eaten with a spoon. With shakes like Snickers bars mixed in, you expect a thicker more frozen shake to evenly disperse the candy bits. The shakes here are more molten ice cream milk in viscosity which is problematic causing the candy bits to all congregate at the bottom. I'm still giving this a 4 out of 5 because I do recommend this place. If they ever redo the shakes to be thicker and more frozen in nature, it would elevate the Americana experience in Wellington even moreso.
