#78 for 2021 Our…read moregroup came here after church service.  It's not a very big place.  They did have some interesting desserts like the cherry slices. I wanted to get one to take home but forgot all about it. Service was better than usual from what I've gotten here in Australia.  Could be because the staff knew the group I was with.  I ordered the Famous Eggs Bene on a ciabatta bread.  Wait time took longer than expected.  It was busy but  not that big thing. We were a party of 12 and lots to talk about.  When the orders started coming out it was not consistent.  What I mean is there were some long waits between dishes.  By the time the last person got their order some of us were done except for the coffee. My bene was very good.  Eggs were poached to perfection.  The hollandaise sauce was nice, gooey thick but not over cooked.  Wow.  I did like the ciabatta better than the English muffin.  I chose to have the smoke salmon and spinach which I thought was an excellent combination.  It certainly tasted that way.  When the egg poured over the salmon that was tasty.  The lemon from the sauce brought out more of smokey salmon.  It was a nice contrast too.  The spinach didn't do any thing for me there but it was fresh.  Maybe order a side of bacon next time to raise this to an even higher level. For a small place, sort of out in the woods, it does have a nice selection of food offerings.  The drink selections are not slacking either.  You can get smoothies, hand crafted sodas, tea, frappes, juices and bottled drinks.  Other food selections include bowls and salads, burgers, a selection for Signature Breakfasts and Lunch Favorites with all day Brunch menus.   If you want to peruse their menu check it out online.  Better yet, download their free Rewards App to get a point for every $10 you spend.

They use the croissants to make sandwiches called Toastiest that are pressed in a panini press. Whatever cheese they use is delicious. This used to be called the church of Glenbrook and was actually a church at one time. Now it is actually called underground coffee ever since the new owner has taken over and made it into a coffee roasting location.

The second star is for the venue itself ...... it appears to be a converted small church with tables inside and outside .... it's well decorated and feels homely. Unfortunately, the service was just a little below average. As we waited outside and reading a menu practically in front of staff, no one bothered to approach us and update us on the seating situation. As we had our little four legged mate with us .... we needed an outside table ..... and any idea of waiting time would have been helpful. I'm ok with no table service ..... but then ordering was a little hectic and I didn't feel like I was enjoying any part of this experience. As pictured, the food was uninspired and average ..... lacked any real flavor ..... and ended just being a snack as we proceeded to another cafe for something more filling.

The waffles are fresh, with all the trimmings, coffee is improving also. It is a quaint little dining area with only 10 or so seats and no bookings are taken. Food and drinks are always delivered to your table within a reasonable time frame. I am not a hot coffee drinker, but asked my coffee-fiend friend what she thought of hers (I believe she had a regular cappuccino) and she couldn't fault it. I had some of their famous waffles which are SO DELICIOUS. The fruit is fresh and they make the waffles right there (no re-heating). I also tried a cupcake and a macron and they were yummy (it was a big day for my stomach). I also like how they've started to introduce gluten-free and dairy-free options, as some of my friends can't tolerate gluten or dairy. The interior is quirky and vintage land which makes it stand out in Penrith. Waffle Co reminds me of one of the funky and hip cafes you'd find down a back alley in Melbourne, except it's in western sydney! It really does make it stand out from the regular run-of-the-mill cafes around here.
