This is a great cafe in my neighborhood. Situated just in heart of Dulwich Hill in very quite area. The place serves excellent breakfast, lunch coffee and anything what cafe can have. The staff is very friendly and you never have to wait long for the table as they will always help with that. Very family friendly. I have eaten there few times and the food was always so yummy and fresh. The place wins every year some awards and they do deserve them. This is how hospitality should look like in Australia. Just like in this cafe. This is my local place for coffee on Saturday and Sunday morning.

In the suburban streets of Dulwich Hill, away from the noise and air pollution of the city, Sideways Cafe is packed full seven days a week. This popular cafe, which has won the Inner West Outstanding Cafe award for the past four years (2008 - 2011), is clearly the inner west cafe of choice, as every table in the large cafe is filled, even at 10am on a weekday. The staff here are warm and friendly and despite the cafe's close proximity to the street, the only noise around the alfresco area is the general buzz of content coming from your surrounding tables. Inside is filled with even more people including a small population of children playing in the kids corner of the cafe. Sideways is extremely kid friendly, with stacks of high chairs sitting outside the cafe and dotted around the tables. The food here is good and reasonably priced too. The Salmon bagel was delicious and their gluten free, wheat free and yeast free bread is light and fluffy (somewhat akin to banana bread) and is an interesting alternative to the tiny, crumbly, dense and stale-tasting gluten free option provided by many other cafes. Whilst I can't comment on the coffee (I'd already filled my daily coffee quota by the time we arrived), the cakes display looked well worth coming back for, as was the quality of service. Whilst it is a little far away from home, next time I want to escape the city stress for breakfast I will be sure to head to Sideways Cafe.

The corn fritters were very tasty, served with a tomato relish and the sautéed spinach.

What a little gem! This was worth the travel to Dulwich Hill! All day breakfast - a good choice of salads - even a couple of soup options! The coffee was also very good, both the piccolo and my dining companion's long black. The corn fritters were very tasty, served with a tomato relish and the sautéed spinach had a little fennel if I wasn't mistaken. Delicious!

Corn Fittas. Yum! A great alternative to eggs

Friendly service, gourmet pie leaves something to be desired. I wouldn't go if you like peace and quiet, it's full of kids.

This is an Eastern European inspired/infused cafe. Meaning that the food here is great. If you don't know what Eastern European food is like, trust me, it is meaty goodness. Now, they also serve the stock standard breakfast and sandwiches, but don't shy away from the different - as that is the best thing about eating here. The Corn fritters here are great! But don't go past the huevos rancheros, seriously worth the try. The coffee here is good, not great, but good. But this is not the reason that you come - you come here for the food. Now, the space is small, so you might have to wait. Or just get take away. They do a special if you order one of their rolls (get it is with the spiced tomatoe sauce) and coffee takeaway, so that is always an option.

Was told this place won the world best gelato in 2014, so have to check out this place. Luckily we…read morecame at the dinner time so there wasn't a line out the store and down the street as warned by the locals and reviewers here. The gelato was creamy and light, so it delivered the flavor but not too heavy that sat in stomach. We ordered the award winning flavor - Mandorla Affogato (a twist of Affogato) which has bits of caramelized almond within the creamy vanilla background. I didn't get a strong espresso flavor as it would have, but the ratio of almond bits and gelato was just right - occasionally crunchiness hidden within the creaminess of gelato. The second flavor we ordered was the poached strawberry with balsamic vinegar. The acidity from balsamic vinegar and strawberry was muted yet complimented the gelato base. It was not too sweet, yet there's a hint of the balsamic vinegar and strawberry. We were too busy getting into the gelato before taking a picture, but check out this place if you are nearby. Here are some pictures of the store, which also offers coffee and cakes.

We got lucky because after we waited to order, there was a huge line behind us. They have a variety of ice cream flavors plus other items on their menu like cakes and teas. The staff was very patient with us as my sister wanted to order a milkshake which is different in the States compared to Australia. My sister wanted to make sure that what she expected in a milkshake would be understood and reciprocated to the staff. Even though they don't normally make a milkshake like the States do, they did their best. I enjoyed my ice cream and it was perfect to end the night.

We literally followed our noses (just like our beagle) and found it. It was late in the day, we had already had lunch but the smell was just too good so we had to order. There was very little left in the cabinet and we ended up with a Beef Brisket Pie to share. OHHH MYYY GOD! Possibly the best pie I have ever tasted, I cant say eaten because I literally got 2 bites - my husband pretty much devoured the whole thing within minutes. So happy to have stumbled across this little place and will be back for sure. **After reading other reviews of this place and it's sister properties, I feel it's important to note that I have been living in Sydney for less than a year and at the time of writing this, I had not heard of Bourke Street Bakery, nor did I know that other locations existed**

The muffins are crispy at the edge, and gloriously fruit-packed in the middle. The varieties of sourdough bread are stunning, and always deeply delicious. Have it as a breakfast treat with some ricotta and jam and you'll smile all day. The croissants are good, too, as are the brioches. Look, if it's breadlike and you can bake it in an oven they do it best here. Their coffee is exceptionally good too. It's warm and welcoming, with tables and colouring materials for kids (it's popular with families). There are outdoor tables for smokers, or for sunny days. Staff are great, even in the face of cranky customers who don't know how to queue properly. Every visitor I've brought here adores it, and asks to go back.

So I only tried 2 flavors and ended up with a berry flavor (names elude me weeks later). Not only did this ice cream taste amazing, but the person who'd packed the ice cream cup was super generous. Hakiki was a highlight of my tour, and I wished I'd had another opportunity to visit before my trip to Sydney ended. I'll return for sure if there is a next time!

I was psyched when I came across a deal for Hakiki--reading the great reviews on Zomato made me even more excited to try Turkish ice cream. On my last full day in Sydney, I was visiting Newtown and just couldn't wait to come here. My friend also told me great things about this place while on our way here, so I was even more excited. It's obvious this place is pretty new but has been a hit and I can see why. There are lots of Mediterranean-inspired flavors, such as Baklava, Mediterranean Mint, Turkish Delight, and date ice cream, this place easily stands out if you're looking for a sweet treat in the area. I had a scoop of the Melon & Feta and Mango & Coconut and I really enjoyed both. Both were very fragrant, and though I never thought of melon ice cream and feta cheese as a combo, having cheese in my ice cream was definitely something new (and something I don't think I'd like again), but the Melon ice cream was very delicious and perfect for a summer day. I also really liked the Mango & Coconut, especially the coconut flakes. The texture of the ice cream was really something--thick, stretchy, gum-like that is like no other. Try it for yourself--you'll really like it! Plus, the owner was very nice and gave me no problems redeeming my voucher.
