This place is a little off the beaten path but it is well worth the drive. The pizzas are phenomenal. I would characterize it as New York style... a thin crust that is soft enough to fold. They use fresh, gourmet ingredients to create some interesting flavor combinations. Though I believe the owner is a native Italian, there is definitely some local (ie Mexican) influence. Would I like jalapenos on my pizza? Um, yes please! Since it is a very new restaurant, there are still some kinks to work out (hence the 3 stars). This is definitely a mom and pop operation. Still, the staff is friendly and our Sangria glasses (ok, plastic cups) were never empty. It is worth a visit just to check out the funky decor. Murals, woodwork and pottery from local artists are on display and the furniture is very electic. The building was formerly a wine cellar for the adjacent winery but it has now been completely transformed - the original wood and stonework is all still there but now there's tons of color everywhere and not a blank wall in the place. So, if you ever find yourself driving along the highway that runs between Patagonia and Nogales, keep your eyes peeled for a large cement building that has been brightly painted with strands of Christmas lights hanging from the eaves... and in front of that a small sign with an arrow that simply reads "pizza". read more

Ok, we were planning to drive to Patagonia and stop at the Velvet Elvis pizza place, but when we arrived.. it was closed. All set for pizza we did a mad search on yelp and found Cafe Kino.. Well this time I called ahead and got Tino the owner.. who said.. that they were also closed, but he was there and 'what the heck' come on over. We arrived and Tino was outside with his arms up saying "you made it, Welcome!" his family and friends were outside having a little bbq, and he opened the restaurant for us.. we could sit anywhere.. we told him we wanted pizza he asked if we like wine (this is a winery too) he then brought us a big pitcher of Sangria.. yum! and then some chicken wings (they were chicken breasts with raspberry chili sauce) he said he had made it for his family but that he could make more and he gave it to us. Then some more wine tasting, a hand squeezed lemonade for my son and he started up a pinball machine for my 6 year old to play. Tino then said.. you guys like food, I'll bring you some salads and then make the pizza. He brought a plate of russian salads, beets, peas, potatoes and fresh bread with pesto.. double yum! He asked what we liked on our pizza.. now remember.. he wasn't open, he was doing all of this himself! amazing! we asked for cheese and veggies.. Well, the cheese was amazing.. a white pizza with pickled vegetables, best ever! We could hardly fit any in after the first couple of courses! So, we had some leftovers. Tino brought a box and I realized.. we never saw a menu never asked the price, and I had to ask.. so.. "how much?" he said.. "whatever..." so we pulled out what cash we had and gave it to him and he said.. "that's good" We not only had an amazing meal in an amazing place, but a crazy story to tell. BEST PIZZA IN ARIZONA! I've been to a lot of places for pizza in Arizona and this one wins! It's a big place but there are not many people there (maybe it's because I always go there late on sunday evening). I had the border bandit pizza and the raspberry sauce chicken wings...AMAZING! The wings were very different but had crazy amount of flavor. The crust was crisp and the inside was soft and chewy. The pizza was really tasty too. The crust was crispy and ingredients were so fresh and flavorful! The next time I went, I got the same pizza and deep fried chicken breasts in raspberry chili sauce...and it was even better than the wings! The alcohol they serve is great too. The owner came up to us to talk and he was very friendly! He sent us a complimentary macaroni and coleslaw salad- which was really tasty too. He talked to us about indian food and how he was such a big foodie. We planned to have an indian food cookout with him too. :D Overall, the food and drinks here are excellent and the owner is very friendly too! He doesn't care about the money...he's just there to provide people with great food. Love this place! read more

Dropped in on a day trip with 2 other couples. We had a fabulous experience. This place is hard to describe, but atmosphere was like a movie and pizza was fantastic. Highly recommend to try this and see what goes on...this aint your daddys pizza hut.... read more

I don't know what planet the 3-star-rating person is on, but, to ME and MY party, this place is phenomenal! We were introduced to it by one of Tito's "old friends", who wanted us to try something "different" for our dinner...! The pizza was one of the best I've had in my whole LIFE and I'm pretty darned-near "ancient" and consider myself a true pizza expert, i.e., I eat it a lot! The "atmosphere" can be called no other word but "eclectic", if not "other-worldly"...there's a little bit of an Old-West-Alice-in-Wonderland feel to it--such fun!!! Tito was the epitome of the "charming host" and we even had a tour of the kitchen while he made our pizzas and wings (to go). The wine was superb and the bottles were corked "to go" (in the trunk, of course). The photos we took there were hilarious. I'm recommending this place to EVERYONE, as it's truly more than a Pizza place--it's an EXPERIENCE! read more

Love the pizza (thin crust, delicious sauce, fresh toppings) but the raspberry chicken wings are SO GOOD. A little spicy, a little sweet and hint of raspberry- so different than the buffalo wings we are all use to. Tino and Cecelia, the owners, are wonderful, and really just want to make you happy with their food. This is a hard to find place on HWY 82, just outside of Nogales. The sign reads "Pizza Winery" and is located between the fire dept and the Royal Road gas station/mini market. GO!!! read more

My goodness! Took a minute to find (rhymes with the address not being in reality where mapping application algorithms think it is in cyberspace), yet completely worth the hassle to discover friendly, tasty food. After calling for the exact location, I found the place: garishly painted exterior, painted sign by the highway with two words only, "Winery Pizza." Walking up to the porch on a surprisingly quiet Saturday evening (rhymes with that time just after dusk, with gentle rain showers from scattered local thunderstorms), I was immediately greeted by the proprietor and his wife, who invited me to sit and take a look at the menu. Hardly a moment passed after I'd joined them on their porch before I was presented with a glass of wine, just to try, to see what I thought of it. It was his pride, a 2000 vintage red, which I found pleasantly dry and complex (rhymes with mellow tannins, tart berry notes and a smooth oaky finish with just a little sweetness (this also rhymes with an excuse to pour me another glass when I ordered)). I ordered my Border Bandit pizza (pesto, jalepeños, sausage and some other toppings) to go, so we talked amiably as old friends might while it was being prepared. After a short (too short: rhymes with time flies when you're having fun) time, my pizza was ready and my glass (just a taste or few, but very generous tastes) was at last empty. Before letting me head off though, they insisted on popping a cork into the bottle my samples had been poured from and sent it off with me as a gift. A fun experience topped off with a loaded pizza (and a loaded me, good thing I didn't have to drive!) with a unique flair, presented by outgoing hosts. This completely made my day. read more

Although I have eaten their pizzas before, it has been takeout. But, recently I decided to take my staff to lunch there. Talking to the owners, it is a two-man operation, as they call it. the place is somewhat haphazard, but I think it adds to the experience not detract, though there are some things that need to be worked on (again, two-man operation). As for the food, we had the border bandit pizza and the anti-pasto salad. The salad was huge and very tasty. It easily served three of us, with seconds, and still ended up leaving some. On the menu it does not read like the ingredients work, but we were wrong. The pizza was also very tasty, it had pesto and jalapeños and the crust was just right - crunchy and chewy. next time I will order the same, sans jalapeños, though - I think the peppers cancel off the pesto. They don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own! With some more work, this place could be a great post-work dinner stop. It is off the beaten path and there is one little sign off the highway that simply shows pizza. I gave it four stars because it still needs some work to earn the fifth - but the food is great. read more
