A Great Local Spot Worth Visiting!…read more We stopped by this small mom & pop restaurant with a larger group, and everyone ordered something different -- and everyone left happy! The service was top notch, and the staff made us feel right at home with their friendliness and attention to detail. While the French fries were a little cold and a bit over-seasoned, the rest of the food made up for it. I had the turkey burger -- and wow, it was amazing! My daughter is still talking about her fried chicken sandwich. All in all, a solid local find, and we'll definitely be back for round two!

The great: Top 5 crawfish I've had and the appetizer was delicious. One of the only places i could find who boil for lunch (on a Thursday) The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly. The kinda disappointing: they do not serve beer before 4 on the weekdays and not before noon on weekends. their crawfish dip was "meh". But honestly, the flavor on the crawfish was so good that i didn't miss it too much. Go! It was amazing. Just know you may not get a cold brew with your crawfish depending on when you're there. Still, so worth the visit!!

Sydnie Mae, named after Sydnie Mae Durand, is the best restaurant in Breaux Bridge…read more Also, Sydnie Mae is related to me. Well, if you believe my mom's theory that anyone named Durand is related to us. To be fair, I have already found one actual relative using this exact logic, so who knows about ol' SMD. Anyway, this place is insanely popular, requires reservations, and there is a reason for that. The food is awesome. Gumbo? Awesome. Etouffee? Awesome. Steaks? Damn great. The pork chop? Hell yes. And then there is the Breaux Bread. Get away from me, Satan. That stuff is way too good. Like, lawd have mercy, why would you do this to me good. They also usually have live music on the weekends, often a solo singer, and every time we have been the music has been great. It adds to the whole atmosphere without taking over the room. The staff is super fun, the cocktails are great, they have a really good bourbon selection, and the wine list is better than you might expect. This is not some little place surviving because it happens to be in Breaux Bridge. Sydnie Mae is a legitimately great restaurant that would be great anywhere. If you find yourself in the Breaux, get to Sydnie Mae. And if anyone happens to know whether Sydnie Mae Durand is actually related to me, let me know. My mom is probably already convinced.

We opened the door and were greeted by the live music, we got a table quickly. I like the way they give you ice water in a large container that you can pour yourself. The appetizer we tried was the fried eggplant with lump crab, and it was excellent, definitely the best eggplant dish I've had. I went the chicken and waffles for the main, waffles crisp outside tender inside and sweet but not overly sweet. The chicken had a nice spicy kick, steen syrup would have put this over the top, but got regular syrup, however this was still very tasty. The star was definitely the omelette! Wow this was special light airy like a soufflé with lump crab meat so amazing and delicious, the addition of the biscuit with the strawberry syrup and the grits made this a complete experience, definitely recommend this. Great meal to start off the New Year.

Prejean's is truly remarkable and easily one of my favorite places for authentic Cajun food. One of…read morethe things I appreciate most is their commitment to using local seafood. In Louisiana, that matters, and you can taste the difference. They have one of the best gumbos in town--rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want a good Louisiana gumbo to be. Their fried seafood is also excellent. Everything is seasoned well, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. My only complaint is that this probably isn't the easiest place to eat if you're watching your diet! There are a few healthier options available, but let's be honest--you don't come to Prejean's because you're craving steamed vegetables. You come for good Cajun cooking, and they deliver. If you're looking for local seafood, a great bowl of gumbo, and genuinely good Cajun food, Prejean's is absolutely worth the stop.

The Lock-and-Load shrimp appetizer was huge - a big taco salad shell with a thin layer of cabbage in the bottom and a huge pile of shrimp with a sweet, spicy sauce. My wife ordered this appetizer as a meal, but still brought most of it home. The Doe Burger is NOT a lady's size portion. It's a huge grilled chicken sandwich with the normal toppings, plus grilled onions and jalapeños. Even though I set the top bun aside (I knew I couldn't eat it all, and I'd rather leave a bun than a piece of meat) - still got stuffed trying to eat it (couldn't eat all the golden brown, crispy tots - the sandwich was too good to fill up on other stuff). Lots of other good looking choices on the menu, and judging by overheard conversation in the dining room, quite a few local regulars stopping in. Four stars - definitely worth stopping if you are in the area and need a good meal.
