Update: we had not gone here in a few years. My husband and I stopped in for dinner. My husband ordered street tacos and I got enchiladas. My husband's taco's meat looked unappetizing and dry. He said they had no flavor. The salsa bar is not what it used to be for sure. My enchiladas looked and tasted like the frozen tv dinner ones. Not good. The queso was watered-down canned cheeses. Had a craving for Mexican food today, but I am extremely picky and had not found a place in Enid I was happy with. Had not been into Cafe Garcia in a very long time, but I always loved their Salsa Bar. Went in today and ordered the Cheese and Onion Enchiladas that came with a sauce and wonderful, fresh toppings. Loaded up at the Salsa Bar--my favorite item was the whole pickled jalapenos. My server was lovely--cheerful and accommodating--nice to be helped by someone who loves her job! This restaurant was so good! Our server was great and very accommodating; he was patient when we took our time ordering. I decided to go with the two soft tacos (served with rice and beans, of course). It was delicious!! I was so full afterwards. The biggest reason for going here would be the queso- the restaurants I usually go to only have chips and salsa, but in Oklahoma, you get to enjoy queso. Also, they have a salsa bar, so if you're feeling like go-getter, feel free to make your way through the tables to grab your salsa of choice. This was the first Mexican restaurant I tried when I came to Enid. I was very underwhelmed by the food. They start by giving you this cheese dip which my friend and I did not touch after trying. The chips were fine but the queso and salsa were unbelievably terrible. The queso was watered down and didn't even taste like cheese. The salsa was so sweet it tasted like a desert. After waiting nearly a hour for my food it finally got here, I got a chimichanga. It was smothered with the watered down cheese all over it. The refried beans were just out of a can, UNSEASONED. I'm giving Cafe Garcia ONE more try today. I really, really want some yummy nachos. The last time I ordered from cafe G, I was disappointed in everything except the gracious server. The time before that the server was rude as heck. I could not read the menu because of a medical issue so I told her I was looking for the plate with a taco, cheese enchilada, beans, and rice. Instead of putting in an order for the plate she charged it all as a la carte and was rude about me not being able to see the print. Well, as a matter of fact, now that I think about it.... This is great food and great salsa bar. The food was soooo good. Will have to come back and bring the family. Had 5 different kinds of salsa. The deep red was pure chilies, one dip of this with cheese sauce was enough to knock you out. The salsa with cilantro was as good as I make, and I make a great homemade salsa. Solid Mexican joint in downtown Enid. The food has flavor, it is cooked with appropriate amounts of spices and salt, the ingredients used are correct - I know this is super basic stuff I'm mentioning, but Oklahoma restaurants suck at those basics. Cafe Garcia is a rare exception of quality ethnic food in a region painfully devoid of such pleasures. The staff is friendly, service is fast, prices affordable. Stopped here hungry for lunch on a Saturday after the Tour de Trykes cycling tour and wasn't disappointed. They have an excellent selection of typical Mexican dishes rellenos, fajitas, tamales, tacos, etc. We tried spicy chicken fajitas, an enchilada and a tamale. All were excellent and satisfying. Served with refried beans, rice and trip to the salsa bar to pick your own salsa. We tried their guac too which was fine but needed a bit more heat for my taste. Had a very disappointing, nearly 1 star, lunch at Café Garcia. Given how crowded this place was during a weekday lunch, plus the other Yelp reviews, the rest of Enid doesn't agree with me about this place. But, my lunch was subpar in nearly every aspect. To begin, the restaurant was very hot. It seemed as though it doesn't have an air conditioner, or if it does, it wasn't working. And, some of the ceiling fans were off. If the joint is this hot, they could at least turn on the fans. It took a few minutes before I had a menu, which was about par for the course for my entire meal. I only saw the server two additional times: once to get my food and once when I flagged her down and asked for my check. When I asked for my check, I also asked for a to go cup of ice water. She took so long with that I asked another server, who got it for me. You are given a very bland cheese sauce when you sit down, along with chips and hot salsa. I don't mean hot with spice (it had none), I mean hot with heat. It was very warm, and it was shocking, as I was expecting the salsa to be cold. Also, the chips, which were store bought, were stale. Fortunately, there is a salsa bar with several types of salsa, peppers, onions, etc. This is the only thing that saves Café Garcia from a 1 star review. Everything I had from the salsa bar was good. To eat, I had the chicken fajita quesadilla. For $8.99, you get the quesadilla, beans, rice, sour cream, and guac. So, it's a good value for the amount of food. But, the food isn't any good. The tortillas appeared to be store bought. So, we have a "Mexican" place that buys both its chips and its tortillas. The chicken was decent, it was grilled, so I'll give Café Garcia that. But, the veggies were only cursorily grilled, they were still nearly raw and very crunchy. The tortilla had almost no crisp, but it was greasy. This made me think the flat top wasn't hot enough or they didn't leave it on there long enough. This was a quesadilla you could make at home. And, if you were at home, you wouldn't have to sit in a hot restaurant and be ignored. I will not be returning to Café Garcia. read more

Garcia's is hands down my go to!! Every time I go, the service is excellent and the food is even better. If you're new to Enid, America i would definitely recommend their huevos con chorizo, it is delicious!!! They also have the best queso in town with a great salsa bar! My wife and I have a long history of dining here. It has generally been my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Enid. During a visit a few years ago, our server brought us warm salsa for our chips. Later we complained abut the salsa, which in YEARS of patronage, had never been brought to our table WARM. Not room temperature, but intentionally heated. The server explained that they "always" served it that way, and customers liked it that way. Despite our protests and request for cold or cool salsa, the waitress would not relent on her story or bring us what we asked for. We STAYED AWAY from this place for about three years because of this. When a new owner bought the place, my wife and I again became steady patrons for a long while. That ended tonight! My wife ordered a Chile Verde Burrito. What she got just didn't seem right. After she ate about a third, she discovered the meat inside was not chile verde (pork) but some type of beef. When we brought this to the attention of the (young) waitress, she told us there was a choice of either pork or beef for that menu item, and my wife didn't specify! The choice on the menu was Chile Verde or Chile Colorado (both pork), not beef! My wife clearly ordered Chile Verde. There was no "I'm sorry, let me fix that" moment. The server took no responsibility and instead tried to BS us with a poor explanation. So begins another few years of boycott. When will business owners learn the old lesson of "the customer is always right"? Why must the staff argue instead of assenting? We choose to dine elsewhere. read more

Yummy food! Servers are always friendly and I love their salsa bar! I'm not quite as fond of their complimentary queso but I LOVE their white queso and definitely willing to pay extra for it. Every time we drive by this place is packed. I have no idea why. The cheese dip that comes with the chips and salsa is oily and yellow which is abnormal for Mexican cheese dip. It tasted old. The salsa was spicy and flavorful but weirdly warm. Our waitress was polite and peppy. No liquor or beers on tap, only bottled beer. The restaurant was slow but our food took an unusual amount of time to make. Beans had no flavor and the rice was yellow and hard, more like rice served in an Indian restaurant. Grilled chicken was ok and my husbands fajitas were ok. Very unprofessional to watch the entire waitstaff behind the counter, just a few feet away, taking selfies and eating food near the register with their hands...major health code violation. Just prefacing by saying that I am a Mexican and Tex-Mex food connoisseur, so take my "meh" rating with a grain of salt because I have been on the greatest hits tour of Mexican food, and Cafe Garcia doesn't even qualify to be a roadie on this tour. Wait, that's harsh, maybe they qualify to be a roadie for the opening band. Okay, that's fair. Roadie for the opening band. This was the first restaurant I experienced when I moved to Enid last month, so I had no idea what to expect. Walked in and I thought the place looked pretty cool, authentic and rustic feel to the whole place. Here's where I almost walked out of the restaurant. Our waittress comes up, asks us for our drink order.... Me: "I'll have a margarita on the rocks with salt." Waittress: "... We don't sell liquor here, only beer." WTF MATE!!!! No tequila?!?! WHYYYY!?!??! Anyways, I recovered from that shock soon enough and ordered a Tecate and a salted glass. Salt was NOT course salt, it was table salt, so I would stay away from any salted glasses at this joint. I ordered the mixed fajitas (shrimp, beef, and chicken), as did everyone else at the table, and everyone seemed happy with the food. The fajitas weren't especially flavorful or unique, but they were definitely edible. The menu had alot of options on it, so I'm sure there are some gems hidden in there somewhere. Alright, I sound like a hater, so I will admit that the one redeeming quality of this restaurant is the salsa bar. Probably seven or eight kinds of salsa, all fresh and various levels of spice. The three or four I tried were all great. They also have fresh cilantro, limes, and japs, so that's nice to add to your meal if you choose. I have not yet been to any other Mexican restaurants in town yet, so I have nothing to compare this place to, only the best and most wonderful heavenly mexican food places in Texas. I ordered the carne asada salad, it is basically carne asada with a plate dressed with shredded lettuce and a few tomatoes.
