I visited on Mother's Day after seeing online that the café closed at 2 PM, though upon arriving at 12:50 PM I learned they were actually closing at 1 PM for the holiday. I completely understand adjusted holiday hours, but the interaction from the moment I walked in was incredibly uncomfortable. All three employees immediately exchanged looks when I entered, and before I could even properly order, one employee abruptly told me, "We only have iced coffee." Trying to remain pleasant, I asked which iced coffee they recommended and was told the s'mores coffee, so I ordered that. I had originally wanted a breakfast sandwich as well, but because of the atmosphere and the clear feeling that my presence was unwelcome, I decided not to order anything that required preparation. Instead, I asked which baked item they recommended since those were already pre-made, and they suggested the banana bread. Unfortunately, both items were disappointing. The coffee was honestly one of the worst I've had -- extremely watered down with virtually no chocolate or s'mores flavor whatsoever. The banana bread may appeal to some people, but it contained walnuts, which I personally dislike. Normally I would have chosen something else, but I felt somewhat pressured to order quickly and leave. What bothered me most, however, was not the food or drink quality but the service. I worked as both a barista and server throughout high school and college, so I fully understand the frustration of customers arriving shortly before closing. Still, there is a professional way to handle that situation, and this experience felt openly hostile and dismissive. I never leave negative reviews, but this interaction genuinely stayed with me for weeks afterward. It's unfortunate because there are limited breakfast options in the area, and I had initially hoped this would become a place I'd return to. The first time I went, the employee working the cash register/ taking my order was so rude that I ended up just cancelling my food order half way through because he made me feel like an idiot. I ended up just getting iced coffee. The iced coffee is really delicious, so I had been wanting to go back but hoping that it was a different employee. Unfortunately, I finally got to visit again this morning and it was the same guy... still so unfriendly & rude! Not what I needed at 7am... would it hurt him to least pretend he cares about your customers? I would go here all this time if it wasn't for this employee. Hi so the sign that said open fell on my friends head. There was a fly in my straw. the Bagel tasted like the pepridge farm one you can get at the grocery store, and the coffee tasted cheap. Seating was as limited as I could not fit more than 2 too a table (I came with trio). Could have utilized air conditioning. Everyone who came in seemed to be a regular as the women working immediately got started on their orders as they walked through the door. Such friendly and funny conversations with each of them. My friend and I stopped by Cafe Delite on Saturday. What a truly pleasant experience. We wanted an iced tea, as it was so hot outside and something cold would hit the spot. The cafe was actually buzzing with activity. There were a few patrons seated at tables outside and a few customers inside. The staffer behind the counter was so nice; polite, friendly, smiling, etc. It felt good being in the physical space. The iced tea was cold and very good. Just what we needed! I have been going to this coffee shop since I was in the 5th grade. They have so many coffee flavors and the like is always out the door on half school days. I'm not a coffee snob by any means but I love good iced coffee and Cafe Delite has THE BEST iced coffees in the Boston area. Trust me. I've been here a couple times and it's worth the trip out to Winthrop. Initially, the staff seemed rude but that's more than likely because they're familiar with most customers and have a style that can be put-offish to outsiders. No worries. As soon as we placed our orders and the line dwindled down, one barista was super friendly and even gave us the leftover extras from a frozen coffee drink. And here I thought my drink was DELITEful. Nope! My sister's drink took the cake and my nephew was thrilled to have a taste of coffee. Most places aren't that considerate to offer the extras for a $4 drink even though they'll just throw it out. The token of generosity makes this my favorite coffee place in ALL of Boston. Hell, I might even go this morning! (Also, try their breakfast sandwiches. We all went for the egg & cheese bagel. Yum Yum). read more

I haven't been here in so long, I'm overdue for a visit. Yummy muffins made with yogurt (obviously from Costco or something, but who cares). Yummy iced coffee. Good Coffee. Service could be better, I've seen servers have personal conversations on their cell phones while behind the counter, tacky. Bagels and muffins are just ok. They also don't make anything on site. Most of the food comes from large warehouse stores like Costco. read more

The low-fat muffins are yummy and $2. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and you can read the house copy of the Winthrop Transcript while you drink your coffee. I wouldn't come for the coffee especially. (Their cappuccinos are made by a machine and when I asked for a hot mocha, they started with a pot of coffee....) The staff are very friendly, and they're open really early, so you can be a hero and come back with muffins for breakfast. read more
