Went in for monster sized scones, boy, my friend wasn't kidding me that that was all I needed to order and a pot of tea. They have freshly baked goods, my only complaint is when you go in to go upstairs you walk past the vitrine with an array of heavenly baked carbs begging to be devoured by your face and belly. Do you understand how much confusion that place can have on your taste buds???!!
I only had so many days left on my visit, so I could go for that day, I couldn't make up my mind would be the Coronation Chicken salad on freshly baked wheat grain bread or the raved about scones. The daily board was quite enticing, my mind was made up for me when the table next to us received their toast and scones served with fruit filled jams and butter. How can one say no to a monster scone kicking you in the eyeball? So 40 minutes later with chat time involved I still could not finish that mountain of a scone. I enjoyed a slight hint of sweetness with light textured fullness of frsh baked goodness. Next time I am there I will have to order a pot of builders tea to get me of my own self induced coma. Their soup of the day was a fresh tomato. Next time I will have to try more the daily special. I enjoyed the service on that busy Saturday afternoon. The lady at the cash register reminded me of that southern cook Paula Deen and the patience of May West. Busy as it was she took time to tell what treats I missed out on at the vitrine while paying and ordering some more scones to go. The crew was fast on their feet, and left us alone until we made a tidal wave happen with a large cup of cappuccino. It is quaint, clean, hip but had a homey kitchen feel to it due to seeing and assortment of goodies being made and baked. read more
