I ordered spaghetti with garlic, and a side of fried potatoes. Wife ordered grilled chicken with fries. We shared one beer. We were both satisfied with the good portions and flavor and how our food was prepared. Bill was $37. Waitress was slow again to bring us our check after we asked, but again it got busy real quick around 5-6. We would definitely return to Toni's again for good food and fair prices, and a nice outdoor patio.

Really good food and large portions for the price…read more This might be the most Italian restaurant in Castelrotto. Plenty of pasta dishes and three pages of pizza on the menu in addition to the standard Tirolian fare. I went for the Tirolian food, while my (vegetarian) wife opted for pasta pomodoro. The only thing we didn't fully enjoy were the salads in a rather heavy cream dressing. We would have preferred a lighter dressing. The portions were rather big, especially compared to our previous night's dinner at another place in town. Service was a bit mixed. There were two people tending to about 9 tables, half on the inside, half on the terrace. The salads arrived before the drinks and they forgot about our check for a few minutes after I flagged them down. Overall though, the service was courteous and effective.

Popped into town after a day of hiking nearby and were looking for something simple for lunch…read more There's a strip of restaurants near the parking lot and we ultimately chose this one as it seemed busy with a large menu. We grabbed the soup of the day-orzo-which needed much much more seasoning. Grabbed one of their pastas, which was fine (better than the orzo), as well as a pizza that was probably the best part of the meal. It's unclear to me who gets baskets of bread as it seemed very random. The seating system is a mess. You get a number and they call out numbers randomly if you're waiting outside. Our number was certainly skipped but when I asked why I was told it had been announced a bunch (which I have a tough time believing since we heard all of the other numbers and were sitting immediately outside...). Once seated, the service itself leaves a fair amount to be desired as it seems like they're too busy for their own good. The bathrooms were nice, which was convenient. And there was free Wifi, which made the 15-20 minute wait not terrible. There aren't so many options in the immediate vicinity so I'm not sure how the others compare. Ultimately, it was a fine choice.

The vibe is eccentric, off season Christmas lights and sort of silly decorations, but everything we got was excellent. Its more comfort food style, and we ordered more than we could eat because we wanted to try too many things. No disappointments. Also, they had a fun list of beers from a nearby brewery that I really liked. If you're in the area this is a great choice.

We had walked by this pizzeria the night before and noted the line out the door, including locals, so we knew something was up. (We made reservations to secure a spot for the final night). Turned out we were not alone. As we were seated at the appointed time, we were thrilled to see the large table next to us was packed with a dozen people we had met on the trail (or in rifugios) along the way; The Canadian family, the tall Brit, the father & son from Singapore, "A" from New Zealand, the Dutch woman we hiked with on Day 3 and 5. They had all finished the trek the same day. Hugs and fist bumps ensued. Needless to say, it became a bit of a party at that point. The staff took a few group photos. The interior here: Sort of an upscale cafeteria vibe with some traditional Italian country decor touches, wood ceiling beams, and a few chandeliers. As for food: All pizzas were the same size - approximately 1 ft diameter. I don't remember my exact order. I recall mushrooms, arugula...perhaps some prosciutto. It was delicious. And of course we all shared slices, and ate way too much. And there was wine; so much wine. (Which may have impacted my memory ;-s). It was a fine ending to our Dolomites adventure.
