It was absolutely sublime! Th menu has so many great options, so I went with the special, chicken fried chicken with white gravy, mashed potatoes, okra and toast. I am not a huge gravy person so got it on the side. The proportions were the perfect size, not too little and definitely not overwhelming. Everything was excellent and cooked to perfection. I had the sweet tea and it was wonderful as well. My co worker had the fish plate, she is a connoisseur of fish and said it was wonderful. The booths were a good size and customers are able to write with chalk paint pens to leave their mark. The environment was relaxing and fun at the same time. Although the space is smaller, the speed of service and the wonderful staff made it feel big. Will definitely return when I travel through Teague!

I really wanted a donut and my husband was craving a Kolache so it was nice to find a spot that had both offerings. We walked in to the store and it seemed like your run of the mill donut shop. Looks can absolutely be deceiving! The first clue that this was no ordinary shop was the amount of regulars that were there for their favorite donuts. I ordered a glaze twist and maple donut for myself. 2 regular glaze donuts for my stepson, a kolache and a chocolate donut for husband. The service was friendly and fast! We got our donuts and headed to the car. I started with the glaze twist. When I tell you it was one of the best donuts I've ever had! It was one of the best donuts I've ever had! A flaky, buttery, perfectly made piece of heaven. We were silent the entire time eating. Lol. My hubby loved the kolache as well. If you find yourself in Palestine, TX be sure to stop by.

We went for the monthly steak night... Mind-blowingly good…read moresteak. We travel and eat on the road a LOT and it's not even close that it's the best restaurant steak I've ever had. My measure of a good steak is, "is it still good once it cools off or does it get chewy as it assumes room temperature?" This one was good to the last bite and I could've cut it with my fork. I would make more of the sides, but the steak was the main feature, but definitely it was also the best potatoes au gratin I've ever had. Rounded it off with my wife getting a piece of blueberry pie and I don't even like blueberries, but I got a bite of it and it was phenomenal. I got strawberry and it was excellent. The piecrust is really something to write home about because they make it with beef tallow in the store and it is perfectly firm. And I always get a half-and-half tea and I'm usually exasperated because either the tea is weak or it's still too sweet and the tea was strong and not "take your breath away" sweet. Very laid-back atmosphere and it was a great date night. Probably a good thing we don't live closer or we would go broke. Very well done and we will be back as soon as possible.
