I was welcomed with open arms, and everyone at the theatre has been a joy to work with. A lot of time and care goes into the productions which are put together primarily by volunteers (the entire cast, most of the crew, etc). If you have the chance, do check out a performance, you're almost certain to have a good time! :)

We parked about 5 blocks away because I had contracted parking in a ramp but there are plenty of ramps closer to the venue. Once we were seated for the show, I was entertained from beginning to end! Black Nativity was "black story telling" at it's best. Most people know the story of the birth of Jesus, which isn't a very long story in the Bible that lasts possibly 1 chapter. To make a story that you already know a two hour story, through narrator, holiday and church songs is AMAZING! The narrator, Jennifer Whitlock, had this rich, full speaking voice that captivated me throughout the show. Her speaking voice commanded attention, without taking away from the songbirds. Ms. Greta Oglesby had such an amazing voice. Her voice was so powerful, with depth and range and she and Mr. Dennis Spears were a great pair. Mr. Spears, a complete performer, with song and DANCE. You can see how much these two love music and sore in their field. Everyone was amazing and they "took us to church!" The dancers made us "feel" the story thru dance. Great seats no matter where you sit. Thoroughly enjoyed the Penumbra.

So intimate that the audience cannot help but to be immersed in the drama unfolding just a few feet away. There are no bad seats in the house. My girlfriend and I were late (took too much time at dinner at The Happy Gnome) and were seated in the back. We were able to move to our seats during intermission. I actually liked the seats in the back better because it was a look straight onto the stage. Our seats were to the right. Again, not bad. I just liked the other view a bit better. Everyone with whom we interacted were nice and welcoming. This was my first time here and I plan to return.

I recently attended the one woman show called "woman who drink"--by Leslye Orr who is also part owner of the theater. I applaud and admire the brave soul she seems to be and am in awe of people that can be so uninhibited and free to just perform on stage and be vulnerable. This was the second time I have seen this show and I love it but she did inform the audience that the "ladies" are retiring after this weekend! Boooo hooo. On a side note Leslye is legally blind and also authored a book called the "People on the Corner" that is a story for children to help them understand that just because others may have differences like race, disabilities, family structures, cultures, we are all human and want to be acknowledged. Coming up for the trick-or-treating season they are hosting a dress up event for children dressed in costume to bring along a stuffed animal friend that is also dressed in costume and there will even be a little tea party after the show. Leslye and her husband Zaraawar Mistry seem to be a perfect pair that want to offer an event space for unique events where everybody is welcome and at affordable prices sometimes even just a donation!

It's definitely my preferred theater in the Cities!…read more Parking is a bit of a toss-up...here are my go-tos: hope for a miracle and get street parking, pay a little more and get a spot in a nearby garage, get a bite beforehand at the St. Paul Grill and use their Valet :) The space itself is very modern and clean! I actually like that it is updated and not a "historic" theater. You don't have steep staircases, old bathrooms, or impossibly tight leg room! Tickets are usually reasonably priced, and my favorite "cheat code" is to buy the "limited view" seats in the front corners, as they are significantly discounted, and often only have a minimal disruption in the view. Staff is always friendly and excited to welcome you to the show! They have snacks, coffee, and alcoholic drinks available for purchase, but often frown upon you bringing it into the theater with you, so plan ahead and get there before the show to enjoy!

Hi! I took one…read moreof my daughters to the Historic Mounds Dinner Theater all night pajama party a couple of nights ago, and we had such a great time! The paranormal team there was very warm and friendly as well as accomodating (Thank you, Lisa, especially!) We experienced lots of scary moments, and the activities held our interest as well as our enthusiasm. We especially enjoyed the ghost hunt and investigation! I so appreciate the good time that the staff there showed my daughter. She said she still can't stop talking about it; said she's obsessed with it now, and tells everyone all about our night there! We're both looking so forward to doing it again and my daughter, Christy said, "And next time I won't be so scared! I'll be able to keep my eyes open through the whole thing!" (She's so adorable.) My husband and I had been to the theater back in October on a ghost tour and we, too, had so much fun there together! In addition to that, we attended the Twin Cities Gangs History movie there; we enjoyed it immensely! There's not only the paranormal part of the theater activities, but there is an incredible amount of history there to be enjoyed, and appreciated. Disney, Broadway, Sussical, and Spamalot. The sound and orchestra are great. The building is nicely laid out. Plenty of bathroom stalls and intermission goes fairly smoothly. They have a handicapped ramp and seating also. All seats are good because the stage and seats aren't far apart. They also have a black box theater that I haven't been to yet. Huge parking lot. Woodbury is growing, so this is a great spot for entertainment.
