I came here with my partner to watch "The Butler Did It". It's a great theatre in downtown St. Paul. The show itself was excellent, although I didn't understand all the references. The actors were very talented and I could tell the writer had a love for this inverse detective genre. It is a bit sad how quiet downtown St Paul is now, but I appreciated that the theatre was trying to partner with local businesses with som coupons to encourage you to patronize not just them. The show also seemed to have great attendance! Parking was not too bad. There are many lots in the area. I would not use ParkHero if you're going on a weekday -- it's not too busy and it's cheaper to pay at any of the downtown lots rather than reserving through the app. read more

I was super-impressed by both the theatre and the fantastic performance of the Chorus Line! The acting, staging, and performing were extremely high quality and it reminds me how strong the theatre is in the Twin Cities. Although there were four understudies taking on roles the night of this particular performance, I think they all did a fantastic job. The singing was professional, as well as the dancing. What a difficult thing to pull off successfully. Congratulations. We had fantastic seats, but it appeared that the sightlines would be good from most seats because of the good banking of the rows. Intimate theater in a nice walkable neighborhood. Lobby area is large and the theater itself is quaint with good views from all seats. I saw Chorus Line, which was a fair production. Some of the songs were a little challenging for the actors, and the acting was a bit forced at times leading to unevenness in the performances across the large ensemble. But it was an entertaining evening with a solid finale piece of "One". And impressive that the 2+ hour show had no intermission. read more

My fiancé and myself saw the opening night of "A Chorus Line" at Park Squarr Theatre last night and it was incredible!!! All the performers were deeply devoted to their roles and the production went perfectly from my perspective!! The venue itself is on a super cute pedestrian street with old brick pavers! If you're thinking about seeing Between Riverside and Crazy, in June 2025, DO IT. 5 million stars for that play! I get their emails, which often have ticket deals. Check their social medias. They email me before shows to remind me that St Paul is trickier than anyone wants to admit. One way streets, nothing is straight, construction. But guess what? Parking is actually pretty darn easy! The Historic Hamm Building is also tricker than it should be. There are multiple entrances. There must be rules about posting signs, bc there are none. There's a theater around the corner, and one in the basement. You'll get where you need to be! Both theaters are very nice. read more

We really enjoyed the production of Holmes/Poirot. Finely acted and entertaining until the end, even my husband couldn't stop telling people about the play. We parked on the street and ate lunch at Wrecktangle. There are a few food options close by. Very happy with the seats too. read more

I saw Pride and Prejudice here last night. First time I have seen a play here. What a lovely theatre. It was small, intimate. Not a bad seat in the house. The play was creative, funny, and very well done. I liked how open the stage was, where you could see the sets and actors getting ready to 'enter stage right'. The cast was diverse and talented. I never get tired of Pride and Prejudice and strong female characters like Elizabeth Bennett (spoiler alert--she ends up with Mr Darcy). They definitely took the quirkinesses of the characters to an extreme that was laugh-out-loud funny. I ordered tickets online and that was easy with no issues. I liked the fact that I only needed one ticket for both seats. After the play, they had a party that had quite the spread of food. I don't think that happens after every play but it was a nice surprise. We parked in the Science Museum lot and walked over so not sure about parking near the theatre. I'll definitely be back for a future play. read more

Park Square Theater is one of those places you can drive by and never notice. But you should. This hidden gem is located in downtown St. Paul, only a long block and a half away from the Ordway. The entrance is in a little pedestrian-only street, surrounded by restaurants and retail stores. While there isn't a dedicated parking I could see, there is ample street or garage parking within a few minutes' walk. Once you get on the bricked street, the marquee makes the entrance easy to spot. Park Square is a small theater in the best sense of the word. The lobby is simple and straightforward, with enough flexibility to arrange as needed for whatever is needed. There are a few tables and chairs to recline, but be prepared to spill out onto the side walk if you and your twenty closest friends want to wait around after the show. Concessions offer a limited but creative menu. The interior of the theater is not large, creating a sense of intimacy with the stage and performers without feeling squished. The stage itself isn't large either but with creative planning can be more than adequate. Buying tickets online was simple and easy, though the ushers manually checking each ticket off the list (by name!) did back up the line a little. Not a huge wait, however. Definitely recommended of there's a show you want to see there. A good expert without being overwhelmed, simple and straightforward theater. read more

Blink and you will miss it, Park Square Theater is a nice little theater located right in downtown St.Paul. Close to many iconic landmarks and restaurants, you can really make it a night on the town. We came to see Triple Espresso while it was playing here. Theater lobby is basic but still looks nice. No large chandeliers, gold printed wallpaper, etc. It reminded me more of something you would see at a small local coffee shop for decor, which isn't a bad thing. We were in the box theater which held a fair amount of people and put on a good production and show. There is a small bar onsite to quench your thirst if you need. Concessions isn't too advanced so don't expect much. It isn't that big of a deal though since lots of good places to eat are minutes away. Ticket prices are reasonable and the shows have always been entertaining. Nice change of scenery and pace at times to go into St. Paul instead of Minneapolis and one of the bigger productions found there from time to time. read more

The theater is small and intimate. No seat is a bad seat. You'll have a great view no matter where you are inside the theater. The service was decent. People weren't exactly friendly, but also weren't rude. The entrance was a bit deceptive. Yep, that's the entrance. Keep going. Since it's downtown St. Paul, parking can be challenging. Especially if there is another event going on downtown during the same time . The show was great show! The theater was well maintained. The restroom was clean. Without a doubt my favorite theatre. I have seen several performances at both of their stages and have yet to see one that does not have me in stitches by the end. Their productions are a unique and refreshing take on how theatre should be. The concessions are admittedly small, but who goes to a theatre for the food anyway? There is no dedicated parking, but there is a lot and a ramp less than a block away, easy distance even in the worst of weather, and it is surrounded by excellent restaurants to dine at before (or after) the show. Give this place a try, I promise you won't regret it. read more

On a beautiful spring day, I decided to walk down to purchase tickets for an upcoming performance instead of online. Unfortunately the box office is closed on Monday's, although the website says Monday - Friday 12-5pm. I spoke with a very friendly staff member who was conveying messages from a not so friendly staff member in the ticket office that they wouldn't be able to help me until tomorrow. It was a little disappointing the ticket office couldn't help me since I was standing right there. Hopefully the website is updated soon to more clearly reflect the hours the ticket office wants to hold. Still, I'm looking forward to the show. If I can get tickets that is! read more

Conveniently located on 7th Place in downtown Saint Paul, with restaurants and parking within a block. The tickets are available electronically and seating is fantastic- not a bad seat in the house. We came here after Buca's to see Calendar Girls which I got some complimentary tickets through the MN library museum pass program. Well, I am glad we got this free since it was pretty average. I was more amazed by the Good People production which I saw when I first moved out here. Oh well, the production dragged out past 9:30PM and was worried about parking situation since the outdated sign said 10PM closing. Plus, I needed to rest before my business trip too. Overall, it was an average production with really thick British accents which made it hard to understand all the actresses. read more

We saw Hamlet at Park Square Theatre and it was wonderful! The diverse cast gave it their all. This production was a condensed version at 2.5 hrs with one intermission. Set in modern times, the backdrop was interesting and actors' really impressed me with their abilities to remember all the lines and believably emote their scenes. Our tickets allowed us to get into Vieux Carre jazz club below Maritage for free! What a great night of entertainment! read more

Went here for the first time last night to see August: Osage County. The play was spectacular and the actors were quite talented. We had gotten tickets that morning and although, I had certain seats in mind, the ticket agent suggested other seats (same price) that she thought would give us a better view and she was so right. Great customer service and friendly people working here. The Theatre itself is nicely laid out, seats are comfy, and its easy to get to. The concessions area at intermission was well organized and the lines went quickly. Tickets are reasonable if you are under 30- only $15 and Rush seats are $20 cash. I am looking forward to seeing more productions. read more

Park Square theater has two marvelous stages, the Andy Boss thrust stage and the proscenium stage. Their productions are well done with great staging, sets, costumes and acting. I have enjoyed several shows here. Located in the Hamm building in the heart of downtown Saint Paul, dining before or a drink or dessert after a show is an easy short walk; the Meritage and Great Waters are located in the Hamm building as well. Sometimes in the evening, strains of music can be heard in the halls; the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra rehearses and sometimes plays in the Hamm building as well. read more

We have season tickets because the productions are a great value for what we pay for. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The theatre is small and intimate. We have several actors that we have grown fond of. They do a very nice job with the sets and costumes. We have an enjoyable time and so do some of our friends we have brought along. read more

A nifty little spot in downtown Saint Paul that does theater that's a bit edgier and more interesting than the Guthrie but not so wild you can't take your grandma to a show. I've been to a number of shows here over the years, some I've enjoyed immensely and others not so much, and while none has stuck in my head as a fantastic experience, I always feel quietly content after a night at the Park Square. You've got your standard Shakespeare interpretations, a few Great American Classics adapted for the stage, and then the Twin Cities premieres of new plays (which I tend to think are the most interesting to check out). As a theater nerd, i always enjoy seeing productions at park square. I go with my school about three times a year, and park square has never failed to disappoint. The stages are both fairly small, which leads to an intimate performance, oftentimes with actors giving it their all and really getting the audience involved. The sets are always super impressive, I saws Macbeth there last year and the set design amazed me, I couldn't stop talking about it for weeks. Hamlet was also very well done, though it didn't wow me quite as much. The costumes are inventive and creative, and usually seem to be 'inspired' by the original time period the play is set in, rather than directly from it, at least for their Shakespeare. I saw Pirates of Penzance today, and the whole of act one had me chuckling, clapping, and completely engaged with the framing and acting from all the cast. The employees have a very open and welcoming attitude, and it really makes for a great experience. They have a very modern take on some classic plays, which I personally really enjoyed, though that's not for everyone. Their casting tends to be pretty good, though I'm no expert, and every time we do a post show discussion as a show, the actors seem to be very down to earth and fun to talk to. There are also a couple good places to eat nearby, and the concessions are very convenient. I always look forward to seeing shows here, and I hope they continue putting them on for a long time! read more

Saw Romeo and Juliet here last night. We liked how close we were to the stage and some of the acting was truly refreshing and wonderful. Kory Laquess Pullam was a wonderful Benvolio, Nate Cheeseman as Tybalt would have made a great Romeo and would have been the better choice. We were really disappointed in the choice for Juliet. I have seen Aeysha Kinnunen before at the Guthrie's Pride and Prejudice and found myself disliking the play because of her in that as well. Not what was expected out of a main character and for that I am very disappointed in my experience. Friar Laurence played by John Middleton was one of the best performances I've seen and is a regular to Parksquare theater. Because of that I may try it out again. read more

The show performed at the theatre was very good and fun to watch. I did have a problem, however, with one of the ushers who was working the night i went. I didn't get her name, as i didn't want to interact with her for longer than i had to, but it was an older woman. She was extremely rude and not at all helpful. It was my first time being there, and she didn't give me a good impression at all. She was very annoyed at the fact that i didn't know where my seat was, even though it is literally her job to show me to my seat. Once i got to my seat with my group, she asked if there were any more people coming. I said yes, but I wasn't sure where their seats were.
