Do yourself a favor--take a bike ride from more central Amsterdam and drink a nice cool beer when you're done. Take your ride in the early afternoon and take your time. Try to arrive around 3:30-4. If you do, you'll not only get a fantastic beer, they'll also be doing jazz in the front (at least in the summer).
