Beer selection was solid, regionally representative and decently priced. We drank mostly beer, but the shot pours were generous. Spent the better part of my one day in Amsterdam shooting the shit with the bartender or watching the boats go by on the patio: couldn't be happier with my choice. It's a spot I would be thrilled to return to at a future date. What a pleasant surprise! The bar is quaint and attractive with amusing and antique signs tacked up in different languages. The locals pile up at the bar and converse with the bartender. Tourists (myself included) stumble in and orient themselves before finding a perch at one of the dining tables. The dining tables are worn wood tables with traditional decorative rugs (taffelkleeden), like you would see at your Dutch grandma's house. I'm not usually a beer drinker, but when in Amsterdam... So I enjoyed the Herfst Bok. To eat, I ordered the cheese tosti with a cup of vegetable soup. The soup had clearly been prepared that day with fresh ingredients. It was great and perfect for the recent December in which it was consumed. The tosti was a tosti, but what more do you expect? ;o) Definitely visit this establishment. If you like really divey squatter-ish local bars, with spinning lady mannequin heads, pinball machines, stuffy small smoking rooms, and a small floor for Interpretive Dancing, this is your place!!! So put on your shimmering silver leggings, fox fur scarf, lumberjack hat and come on over for some beers. This is one sexy vrouw in de buurt dat jij moet kenen!!! P.S. If you prefer taking shots, loud drunk screaming people, and smoking too much weed, you best stick to the main streets of the Red Light.

It wasn't a complete rip off in terms of price of drinks either, if I'm every back in Amsterdam and want a place to chill, I'm sure Hunter's will be my choice!
