The bartender waved us in towards the back and set up our table quickly. He told us about the happy hour specials, and gave us a few minutes. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay, which didn't appear to be part of happy hour, but was a decent price at €6. I also ordered a side of fries to snack on, and they gave me quite a bit. I was expecting a smaller plate, but I'm not complaining. The location is very convenient to Gare du Est, which was also close to our hotel. Seems like a good place for dinner or just drinks.

The location for this pub is perfect, it has a beautiful outdoor patio and a great view of one of the stairways up to the Sacré-Coeur. However, the staff member that served us was hostile and angry when speaking with us. For a pub, the drinks were made very very poorly and tasted really bad. We were also charged 6€ for a bottle of water, which was much higher than any other restaurant or bar we had gone to. Wouldn't recommend, even though the location is ideal.

Seating is on fabric/ velvet probably with questionable stains but just deem it as an endearing detail of a fine, classical pub. Rather large establishment with roomy enough bathrooms that are not too disturbingly scummy. Workers are brash, surly... "serve-you-beer-is-my-main-purpose!" kind of attitude. Lots of perks really and overall just a great watering hole with an energetic, almost enriching atmosphere.

The lemon basil sour was by far my favorite, but the pale ale and the session blonde were also good. We stopped in by chance a few weeks ago while searching for a comfortable place to watch a World Cup match with a toddler in tow. Le Play caught our eye with its large Happy Hours sign on the outside and a fun interior with two large screens and literally no one (but the barman) inside. We settled into a spacious couch and ordered some drinks. I ordered a Vodka Martini even though it wasn't on the menu (when will I learn?!) and despite asking for barley a drop of Vermouth it was way too heavy on the Vermouth than I like, but I don't fault the barman as he was clearly doing his best to please and the serving was generous enough to last the whole match. There are many more cocktails to try and a great list of beers as well. While it's certainly not your hipster bar, I totally dug the vibe and friendliness of the staff and off the beaten path location and would gladly go back, even without a game going on.

The bartended didn't speak any English (not that she should, but it did make it more difficult as a tourist). Beers were on the pricy side, especially when it wasn't happy hour.
