Such a cute tiny cafe! They have a nice cozy hipster vibe. They have signs that say they don't want people to bring their laptops which was fine for me since we wanted breakfast. This was my second time here and at first I was disappointed because Shashuka wasn't on the menu... but I had the pleasure of trying something new. It didn't disappoint! The ingredients are always so fresh and you can see them prepare everything right in front of your eyes (well, nearly). There isn't a kitchen and it's quaint and small inside. But if you're lucky enough to snag a table, I recommend trying here once. In my opinion it's not overpriced but then again I live in Geneva where everything is overpriced. Visiting my old home city (Paris) makes life affordable again lol. Coffee is good, fresh baked items are good, food is good... catch my drift? I had a latte 4,2€ and a "not so" Lost In Cheeseland cheesesteak sandwich 8:45€. I love coffeeshops and one of my favorite thing is to try a new one wherever I am. The concept, the decor and the staff was very cool! But I wasn't happy with the sandwich. Two thick slice of already burned bread with a few thin slices of gouda and edam cheese wasn't satisfying. The saddest part is how can a toast like this cost 8,45€ ?????? It worth 2,50 on my opinion. Toast also had too much of a chili jam, what made it taste very sweet and override all the taste of cheese. This small cafe is located in the hip area of Oberkampf so if you're in the area and looking for a hipster fix of avo on toast make sure to stop here. Cool hip coffee shop. We came for a coffee and a light breakfast and were not disappointed. Keep in mind that it is a pretty tiny shop so don't come in a huge group and I bet on the weekend it can be quite the wait. We got two toasts and the flavors were delicious. As a coffee fanatic, I've tried a ton of coffee shops in north america and europe. I've tried about 25 in Paris. This is my favorite coffee shop in Paris. They get new coffee every couple weeks so the taste is constantly evolving, love it. The employees here are so friendly and welcoming, and the owner Guy is always so kind and remembers my boyfriend & I, kudos to him. I always get the Avocado toast, it's the best I've ever had. and my boyfriend always gets the tuna toast, which he says is very good. Tiny cafe and the food was ok. The cafe is bright and on the spartan side with a couple of barstool seating by each of the picture windows, along with four tables in the main area. The two end tables seat 3 people and the two center ones can be configured into 2 two seaters or a combined table for 4. Whew. When we came in, one guy was sitting at the first table (for 3 people) and the end table was occupied by two. Still with me? :) We were a party of three so we naturally took the only two center tables available and proceeded to put them together only to be jumped on by the owner who told us we couldn't do so. Hmm. I get it, but if space was such a concern, one should plan ahead and make use of all the space and have the other patrons sit accordingly. Right? The table we sat in was awkward and tight especially when occupied by cutting boards (that are used to plate the dishes), coffee cups, water carafe/glasses, and orange juice drinks. It was particularly annoying since the one guy occupying the three seater was sprawled out with his laptop and espresso the entire time we were there. A window seat or one of the inner tables for two should have been his. Good customer service would have been to make efficient use of the space while making sure that current patrons are comfortable. Now the food. The portions were good but the cheese sandwich, after all the review hype was a disappointment. The presentation on the said cutting board added to the anticipation and disappointment since it lacked in flavor. The banana bread was fresh but it was also just ok. The best thing we ordered was the fresh orange juice. Other than the initial encounter with the owner, service was professional, but a little more warmth couldn't hurt. read more

Great little cafe. Quite a large coffee selection and I was happy that they carried Guatemalan coffee, as it is my favourite, and almost impossible to find in Paris. I say almost because I found it here. The food was wonderful. I love the variety of flavours available on the menu. I find it difficult to locate something familiar in Paris as someone who lives in a very multicultural city (Toronto), so finding a menu with food that I knew what to expect was really comforting. I ordered the couscous salad with mint, pomegranate and almonds. It was really refreshing, light, and tasty. There is a nice combo menu available for 11.5 EUR, where you can get a sandwich and small salad. If you're a meat eater, the chicken sandwich looked very fresh and delicious. This combo menu is a very good value and allows you a main and a side. I also had the iced tea, which was tangerine and ginger, sweetened with maple syrup. It was quite nice and the maple syrup brought out the ginger flavours even more. Really refeshing, perfect for a sunny stroll. And lastly I enjoyed the cold brew latte which was stronger than your typical latte but if you like your coffee strong, then this is also a really nice cool beverage. The staff are really nice, and the main guy was really nice and helpful in what to order and explained what the types of coffee they had, where they came from, etc. Overall I had a great experience. The only flaw is that the space is tiny tiny tiny. I was lucky to only have to wait 10 minutes or so for a table, but I hope they open up a bigger location because the kind of food and atmosphere there was really nice, and I think they'll do really well in a bigger space. read more

I was conflicted about giving 3 or 4 stars (3.5 would be perfect I think), based on two experiences here. My first brunch at Cafe Oberkampf was really great- it was my first time trying shakshuka, and although we had to wait for ages for a table (the cafe is super tiny), it was definitely worth the wait. I came back again for brunch with my boyfriend, and we shared a 2 egg shakshuka with feta, a Lost in Cheeseland sandwich (3 cheese sandwich with chilli jam), and one of their toasted banana breads. The sandwich was great, super cheesy and the jam was good. It was actually the shakshuka that I was disappointed with. We were served completely hard eggs, which I don't think is ok. The first time I had this dish, I was served really runny eggs and was told that if you want them to cook more, you leave them for a few minutes, or if you break the yolks then they stay runny, so was expecting the same deal this time. We were instead given eggs with rock hard yolks. The dish itself is really tasty, but would be 100x better with runny eggs (unless you're into hard eggs, of course). The banana bread wasn't to my taste, but my boyfriend loved it (too banana-y, not bread-y enough for me) and he convinced me it was worthy of 4 stars. For 2 dishes, 1 shared dessert, and 2 coffees we paid around 35 euros. read more

An Aussie-style cafe in Paris! Mon Dieu! I had a lovely little piccolo, with perfectly steamed milk and mellow espresso. I noticed the espresso was Ethiopian and was worried it would be too bright but it ended up being perfect. Tres bien! The space is small but cute and the staff is very nice. My daughter would have kept ordering the banana bread (she had to be stopped after two because the café was closing!) - it was that good...toasted and served with salted butter...mmm. This spot is a great place to go for something a little different in Paris. The Shakshuka is very good and looks gorgeous, and the toasted bread served with it is excellent (do you expect anything less in this city?).
