Yes, blame it for not been home in the native land for 19-20 years. First of all, I was amazed of the history that lies behind the story of the business. Amazed of it's selling point is a home grown coffee. Amazed of the business mission is to help local farmers. I couldn't deny the feeling to be proud local and thankful to whoever started this franchise. I'll support this business to anyway I can provided I am a resident of the country but sadly I am not, just one of the visiting "Balikbayan". I grew up drinking "kapeng barako" so I would say their coffee somehow will not be far from my expectation. Oh boy! They offer modified flavors that surprisingly tickled our taste buds. It was beyond to what we imagine. The alternative version of their cafe espresso made me enjoy coffee more than ever. I am pretty sure you'll agree with me that in comparison to nearby Starbucks pricing, this place is way reasonable. They offer more than coffee. Tried their local flavored muffins and find it tastes equally right with others. The atmosphere of the coffee shop is contemporary/ modern with Filipino touch which is for me is very appealing. I'd been a supporter of local businesses in my hometown in Queens, New York so it with full pride that trying their coffee was worth it and will support the business whenever I can.

Breakfast/Brunch is served between 6:00a to 10:00a and is complimentary if you're staying in the hotel. The line can get long at times depending on how many guests that particular day. Breakfast can have a variety of many choices between American and Filipino food. They have an omelette/egg station and also serve bacon, sausage, waffles and pancakes, donuts and cereal and could also have dilis mixed in with the others. The middle section are dishes ranging from pansit, roasted chicken, beef stew, baked bangus on any given day... yes, beginning at 6:00a you could be eating lunch LoL! They also have Filipino desserts. We also used the Cafe to entertain our family guests who came to visit us during dinner. For this we had different menus and we paid like we would do in a regular restaurant. The ambiance is always busy. The staff here are very friendly and polite. You will always hear a "Good Morning, sir or ma'am, as they greet you. We would see flight attendants of Cebu Pacific stay and dine here sometimes also. Review #3286

You know, the side with no Pares stands, Fishball vendors, and Taxi Barkers. Yey. Located at the ground floor of the newish Ecoplaza Building, it's easily one of the bigger coffee shops in the city. No, seriously, it's huge. The interiors are clean, bright, airy, and really opens up an already expansive space. The coffee is pretty good. Staple and Perk's coffee menu is familiar terrain to most coffee addicts as all your favorites are here. Staple and Perk is, surprise surprise, also a bakery, and they do have a solid selection of bread products on hand. Their food is pretty solid as well. If you're looking for something sweet but not too much so, try their Dayap Cheesecake. Sweetness, with hints of sourness and bitters make for a winner combination. Perhaps the most awesome thing about Staple and Perk is that it's open 24 hours from Monday to Saturday. They do close up at 10pm on Sundays because why not. Aside from that, they're mobile-friendly as well. Staple and Perk is perfect for late-night partygoers who need a shot of coffee for things to make sense again, as well as for midnight oil burners who are looking for a more comfortable place to hang out in.

Calligratherapy is Fozzy's way of bringing calligraphy enthusiasts together. It's not a class or a workshop. It's basically just a fun afternoon of eating, drinking coffee, meeting new people and well, doing calligraphy! Signing up was quite difficult. With all the Fozzy fans out there, getting a slot was like shooting the winning shot in the NBA Finals. I kid you not, I had to shoo away my boyfriend from his laptop, just so I could use it to sign up and it took me an hour! When I e-mailed Fozzy to confirm my slot, she mentioned that she was scared that people were breaking her website because a lot of people were having a difficult time signing up. Anyway, I got a slot. I came to Staple & Perk and I was like a kid in Disneyland seeing Princess Jasmine for the first time. I was star strucked. Okay, non-calligraphy enthusiasts may not get it, but seriously, it was like meeting your number one idol. She welcomed me and gave me a few sheets of paper, plus her special Awesome Practice Pad, which the calligratherapists were able to have a first look of that day. None of us wanted to use it. For some reason, we didn't want to waste the beautiful paper that smelled so good, I wanted to hug it. To start off, we introduced ourselves one by one and for some reason, Fozzy wanted us to tell everyone the one food we could eat every day for the rest of our lives. I guess it was some kind of ice breaker, which worked perfectly. Afterwards, Fozzy was open to questions from beginner calligraphy enthusiasts like me. We asked about different fonts, how to use certain kinds of inks and how to scan our prints. Remember how I said that this was just bring all of us together? Well, Fozzy kept saying, "This is not a class guys! Have fun!" Probably because we were all so eager to practice our new knowledge from Fozzy. We were served food and unlimited coffee (yay!). There was a little table set up also by Scribe for us to buy new materials for our calligraphy needs. I had enough self-control to not buy anything because I tend to hoard all these inks and papers. We ended with just chit chats with Fozzy and our table mates. I actually made new friends, Lyra and Deng. We shared different kinds of inks and tips with each other and Lyra even traded one of my inks for Fozzy's Notebook of Infinite Patience. I absolutely enjoyed Calligratherapy because I loved meeting new people, having unlimited coffee and of course, meeting one of my idols. If you ever want to join Calligratherapy, you can follow Fozzy on Instagram @thefozzybook or check out her website: www.thefozzybook.com.
