Finally visited Café Kuya after wanting to visit since they opened, and o boy was I missing out! The coffee here is SUPER GOOD. We tried their cortado with coffee beans from Peru and it was well balanced, fruity but still maintained an intense coffee flavour without being bitter. The filter coffee was also good, although not overly strong or thick it did have a fruity aftertaste. We were at the café for breakfast and tried the pork longganisa fried egg breakfast sandwich which was unique (on the sweeter side) and simply everything you would want in a bfast sandwich! The fried egg and pork sausage were perfect and sat toasty inbetween the slices of bread. We're sad we couldn't stay for the lunch menu! Service and hospitality are amazing too! The café is also super cute and modern! Highly recommend this café for all my coffee lovers who also enjoy food with filipino flair!

Finally another good coffee shop on the south shore. Best thing is that it is Filipino influenced and they serve food. I always order a cortado and a lot of times, I find it way too diluted. But not here...it had a good coffee taste to it...almost like Olympico which is my favourite coffee place. I went there for lunch so ordered their lechon sandwich. I really like the addition of the grilled pineapple for a touch if sweetness. I could have eaten a 2nd sandwich easily. Ordered their coconut pie and as a good Asian dessert, it wasn't too sweet. Even my friend who doesn't like sweet stuff liked it. Opted for a 2nd coffee and tried their cortado with ube...wow. I really recommend trying it. I will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. Very small place tho with just a couple of tables.

    Lechon sandwich! So good!

Really enjoyed our visit. The atmosphere is what makes this place special--it feels like working or…read morerelaxing in a beautiful historic library rather than a typical café. The space is spacious, quiet, and has a great vibe. The Wi-Fi also seemed fast, making it a great spot to get some work done. I had the flat white, and my wife had a decaf coffee. We enjoyed both. Definitely worth a visit whether you're looking for a good coffee or a unique place to spend an hour.

Housed under the vaunted ceiling of the grand, neo-classical former Royal Bank of Canada building, the cafe, we agreed, was most impressive when we looked upward at the marble and historic detail. It was just when our gazes gravitated toward ground level that we became less entranced. It was a zoo, a triggering tourist vacuum with an endless queue. There was nothing wrong with the attentive staff. What got on our nerves was the complete indifference of entitled customers in front of us, especially families that require constant attention and selfishly barricade every open table. It took us quite a while to find a space for us as we waited for our C$6.47 12-ounce Iced Lattes (Photo 9). It was the first time I saw a surcharge for ice, C$0.22. Anyway, despite the crowds and the middling coffee, it was worth the stop for the architecture. I wondered if the common workspace on the opposite side of the counter was worthwhile for locals. Obviously it meant little to us as tourists. COFFEE - 3.5 stars...rather middling considering the setting...what's with the surcharge for ice? AMBIANCE - 3 stars... historic architecture compromised by the crowds SERVICE - 3.5 stars...pretty efficient considering TOTAL - 3 stars...worth the stop but probably just once CORRESPONDING REVIEWS Dandy: https://yelp.to/91vXGUrXOo Centre de Commerce Mondial: https://yelp.to/ECo5MJJgGa RELATED - Exploring Montreal? Order at the counter, take a table number and food will be delivered. Several spots to eat but we chose the greenhouse and it gave you the picnic feel! After lunch, we wandered the shop, and found so many treats to take home. We found this on accident and we hope you stop in if you are traveling through !!! It will be a joy to visit - and the barista is amazing! The food was fresh, large portions, and delicious.

The cafe menu is limited mostly to sandwiches, quiches, salads, and breakfast pastries. I got the Jambon Bio: ham, cheddar, mesclun greens and dijon on a baguette. The amount of ham was really pitiful, I think 2 slices. The greens were boring, only lettuce. We did like the dijon mustard. The baguette was overwhelming for the amount of filling and not the tastiest. Rather disappointing and I thought pretty expensive at $17 Canadian. But it came with soup and salad (no way to order just the sandwich). We liked the soup though, a pureed squash with apple, assertively peppered. Salad? Lol no it was 3 cucumber slices each with a 1/2 cherry tomato on top! In retrospect I should have got one of the hot sandwiches, such as the Croque Monsieur, which looked good on another diner's plate. I liked the selection of soft drinks, and found an interesting fruity soda from a local company. While waiting for our food (order at the counter and they deliver it to the table) and after finishing we perused the grocery. An amazing assortment of gourmet items. I bought two hot sauces that I can't wait to try (didn't get the one made from ants though!) and some tinned smoked fish. Many of the items seemed insanely expensive though. The beer selection was truly impressive; wish I liked beer. Then on to the greenhouse. An amazing variety of plants of all kinds: cactus, ferns, carnivorous, much more. We just looked because we couldn't take them back to the USA, but some were hard to resist.
