WIPEOUT This surfing-themed eatery in northwestern Puerto Rico showed promise, but we wound up drowning in the prices and disappointed by the portions. A quick search of breakfast places in the Rincón revealed a charming place called Café 413. It had good reviews, so I trusted the decision. Shortly after noon on 1/3/19 we got seated; they technically stopped serving morning fare at 11:30am but were gracious enough to extend those hours for customers. Nichole C got a glass of parcha ($3) and a latte ($3.25), while I went with a fresh banana smoothie ($5). We totally dug the surf boards used as light fixtures and the other surfing photos hanging on the wall. Truth be told, the beachy decor and relaxed ambiance was the best thing they had going for them. When the food arrived, my cheddar omelette ($7) wasn't fluffy in the slightest and the cheese was on the meager side. To make matters worse, the omelette itself (2, MAYBE 3 eggs) was really small for seven bucks. Her "eggs in a basket" ($7) were marginally better but a far cry from what we make at home. Not great. I got avocados as an extra ($2) which were nice, alas the side order of bacon ($2) left me scratching my head. Two little strips of bacon for $1/each (not thick-cut or anything, just your standard cooked pig fat)?? The toast that came with our orders was tasty, but the fresh fruit cups were pretty sad :( bendito! Bread = 3 Circuses = 4 Service was okay, though they had to come back to clarify our orders two separate times. Thank goodness they accept Discover cards or I would've been even more put off. * TL;DR * The cost of having breakfast here was no different than eating in downtown Chicago -- $35 for two people. Mind you, everything else on the island is totally cheap (we spent a total of $12 on lunch the previous day and ate a $6 breakfast the day before). Café 413 isn't a bad place but your dollar can stretch a LOT further just about everywhere else and for the cost, I expected much more in terms of quality. Considering the price point, no, I unfortunately wouldn't recommend. read more

Great spot in Rincon for breakfast / brunch. Cappuccino was good and the breakfast was great. I ordered the Avacado / eggs toast. One small thing, it took them a long time to get us the food. Cuban was delicious but it took forever!!!!! I would recommend the Cuban and the fries but definitely pass on the coffee. The group got three different types of coffee (black // iced with coconut milk // cafe con leche) and they all left something to be desired. Per reviews their chai is better so I will try that next time read more

Went there twice... packed on Sunday so the service was very slow but was fairly quick on the weekday. The food was fresh and delicious, which is why we returned. The caramelized banana waffle was way too sweet second time around. Coffee is delicious! read more

The brunch was good. My husband loved it even though my eldest daughter felt uncomfortable by the jokes of two waitresses (an older lady in her 50s with blonde hair and a very tall young woman with black hair) the waitresses were mocking everyone. Brunch baby! We started our trip in Rincon by having lunch at this spot and it was the best way to begin our adventures. We enjoyed the best cafe con leche we had in PR. I've been here several times on my visit to Rincon. It's one of the places that has vegan options and is open for dinner, many are lunch only. The service is always been very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I usually get their plant based burger on GF toast (extra $2 charge) which is a little oily but still very good. They have the option to add avocado which I've got burned on a few times- they charge $1.50-$2 for the addition and give a couple thin slivers, definitely not worth it. They have a few outdoor tables on the sidewalk and I'm glad for that b/c inside is blasted with AC and way more chilly than I prefer. I'll be back on my next trip and will remember not to get the extra avocado! read more

If your traveling in from out of town this is a good spot. Very clean with a surfer beachy vibe. Greeted and seated immediately. Breakfast was good. Started with juices and cappuccinos. Puerto Rican coffee is good to start so cappuccino was great. I had the veggie omelette and added cheddar and fresh avocado. I also had gluten free toast. It was served with a nice side of fruit. The omelette was fluffy and delicious. My husband had the French toast which was also topped with fresh fruit. He polished it off. So yummy! I came here on a Thursday morning and it was not busy at all. Our waitress was very helpful and our food came out very quick. I had French toast with berries and a cappuccino and I would recommend both. It's also in a very convenient spot down town. The seating is super comfy and it's a nice place so sit and enjoy. read more

Who the heck puts tortilla chips with their burger?!?! It says either fries or natural chips. I guess that's on me for not making sure they meant potato. Second time I've tried this place and although they do use quality ingredients as far as putting together a well balanced dish goes not the place to go. Also my partner got the breakfast pizza and paid for bacon and avocado on it. It did not end up coming out with those things but we definitely got charged. Not very impressed with the kitchen at all. Someone doesn't know how to run a kitchen, or doesn't take pride in putting out a consistent product. read more
