Stopped here on a whim after the restaurant I wanted to go to was closed. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Parking lot is ample for the seating space inside. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered a mushroom Swiss omelet, which came with French toast. I also ordered hashbrowns and link sausage. The French toast was good; although it had a hint of meat from the grill (there was even a small piece on top of my toast). **Please clean the grill between orders, that was a turn-off.** Anyway, the crust was a little crunchy and the interior of the toast was perfect. The hashbrowns were good as well. I liked that the omelet was full of mushrooms and the cheese tasted good. I didn't eat much of it due to the runny egg white which frankly freaks me out. I didn't care for the sausage and only ate one bite. The meal totaled $17 and some change. A little much for a meal that I didn't even like 75%. I would try this diner again if in the area. For a first time visit and spur of the moment. We had a great breakfast. Decent sized, cleaned, newer styled Coney in Dearborn Heights. Good attentive waitress who went above and beyond. Went for breakfast and was not Dissapointed. Had a HUGE menu with interesting sandwiches and hot dog combinations (like dorito). Breakfast was GREAT with the Big Breakfast and options for French toast or pancakes with it. Mom said she wouldn't eat it since shes a slow eater, waitress packed it go with powders sugar and cinnamon and syrup in lil cups on the side. Beef Bacon or Turkey Bacon..i paid 1.50 extra for beef and it was great. Ham is turkey ham with a hickory taste. Also good. Left this place laughing at the service and food. Food is what you'd expect from a coney joint. However the way they plate is hilarious. I ordered a side of fries and mozzarella sticks as appetizers. The fries are given to you just thrown onto a plate. A normal dinner plate. The mozzarella sticks (6) is where I lost it. The waitress sets them on the table with a slight bit of force and again, on a normal plate, they go rolling off the plate! The sticks took up 40% of the plate. This is a really homey, welcoming spot with a multicultural clientele and staff. 99% of the menu is halal & the one thing that's not halal has a halal alternative. This is authentic American fare. Tried this place out for the first time since the ownership changed; it was a Sunday afternoon. The menu is very broad, including an entire page of breakfast items. My "go to" sandwich in a coney island is the tuna melt, and I consider myself a connoisseur with decades of experience. This is why I rated the place a 2; the sandwich was cold and had lettuce and mayo on it. That is, mayo on top of the mayo that is already in the tuna salad. There was barely any cheese, and the tomatoes had no flavor. The fries were hot, but tasted like the oil was rancid. Overall, one of the worst I have tasted. The place was very busy, and it seemed the workers knew everyone coming in. Lots of families (very loud) So apparently they are doing well, for which I am happy. Being a halal meat eater, I like going here and ordering authentic American style breakfast. The turkey is taste soft and low on sodium. My favorite is the chicken pita and Buffalo pita at Caesars, which taste fresh and marinated with not too creamy saucy. They have variety waffles and toast, but my favorite tend to be the Nutella ones. Also, Caesar's is known for their salads. I recommend trying the Greek with grill chicken. First let me tell you about their decor, it is absolutely beautiful, I love the colors they used, it looks so clean and modern and I loved it, you don't even feel like your eating at a coney! The food was really tasty and clean. I had the chicken strip pita, and instead of mayo I had ranch dressing. The sandwich was very flavorful the tomatoes and lettuce make the sandwich fresh, and the cheese makes it creamy. I also had the chicken lemon rice soup and was very delicious. On the other hand, the service was okay. There were three waitresses and it took 10 minutes just for our Greek salad and soups to come. Amazing!! We have been searching for a coney since the one we used to go to had dropped quality significantly.... this place did not disappoint! The place to begin has great decor and looks super clean. We were greeted by a super friendly hostess and were seated immediately! Our server Joel, came by soon after and took our drink order. He also asked us if it was our first visit and when we said yes, he took the time to answer all our menu questions. We placed our order! My Greek salad with pita (extra charge) came our quickly as did our side order of onion rings( they were yummy and crispy). Then our main meal came out. Grilled cheese with the best seasoned waffle fries, and a loaded omelette with a side of hash browns, turkey sausage links and toast! I honestly feel bad for the place... TLDR: Badly designed and feels like the employee break room on the Death Star, the menu is geared to a specific customer base (Halal only - No bacon) so many seeking a regular breakfast won't like it, and it's overpriced. You'll be more satisfied at Leo's or Ram's Horn. ----- When word closed that Pete's Stardust was bought and someone was going to renovate it, there was hope and optimism for it. Not just from me, but pretty much everyone I talked to who knew the spot. Months went by and we'd see the trucks for those working on it; the time and energy they were putting into the place was apparent. The sign went up, and it was.. okay? The color choices were odd for a diner. I had a bad feeling about it from there. Whomever designed it needs to retake their color theory graphics design courses. Since they've opened, I've been in a few times to see if my initial thoughts from walking in was an over-reaction due to the change, but.. unfortunately I've realized they weren't. THE DECOR: First, as I thought before, the interior looks like there was a LOT of work put into it, so my compliments on the elbow grease guys because it definitely shows... but whomever designed it just doesn't get that a diner is supposed to be someplace you can be comfortable in; this most definitely is not. The color scheme is variations of black, white, and grey, with a blue neon highlight across the ceiling. The walls and floors are grey tile, and the tables are a hard, black slab marble which (no matter how hard they try) will never, ever look clean. And with the table set up in the front being as open as it is... it just doesn't feel inviting. Translation? This place feels more like a morgue than a restaurant. With there being no real decor and with the open middle, sound isn't controlled. Either it's extremely quiet, or you can hear the conversation of the table across the room. I noticed one TV by the kitchen, and they may have more on the back side of the dining room, but with how cold it feels in there, I never stayed to enjoy a program. BUY SOME PLANTS! Get some color in the room. Maybe hang some things from the ceiling to soften the feel! Seriously.. I feel like I'm in the employee break room on the Death Star. 0.o THE MENU: They have a pretty wide selection on the menu, and you can tell they based it off of competitors in the area... but that's where the similarities end. For a place that is touting "Hot Dogs, Breakfast, and Brunch," they're ignoring the fact that for most people in the U.S. (let alone this area of Dearborn), those three menu groups are synonymous with BACON and pork products. With the owners being obviously Muslim (and hey, more power to the owners for making food you and your family can enjoy), the effort to make the menu halal and inclusive for their community alienated everyone else. They don't get how important that umami flavor is to soooo many people (and a vast majority of restaurant goers in the area), and it's undeniable that they will lose a LOT of potential business to it. To this day, I've never seen their parking lot full. Even worse, their menu doesn't clearly state that there are no pork products, so my first attempt to order the ubiquitous 'Club Sandwich' had me wondering what the hell they placed in front of me until they explained it AFTER the fact. -_- Overall quality of the food that I did wind up eating was passable, but I've never been able to go in there and order what I wanted/what I could get at any other diner in the area; everything I've eaten here is an 'alternate version of the real thing'. It's like you're craving a burger and you find a cafe, only to find out they only serve tofu. PRICES: Expect to pay at least $2-3 more per meal here than you will anywhere else. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the inside of the restaurant was. Very clean and modern with tables and booths. Four of us sat in a booth and it was comfy and roomy. Bathrooms were equally clean, although there is only room for one. Orders ranged from a hamburger to a quesadilla, chili and chicken kabob pita. All portions were good size. The standout was the chicken kabob. Nicely chargrilled with fresh red & yellow peppers, onions and mushrooms. Tender pieces of chicken cooked to perfection. So now I got 3 cold sandwiches waiting for my order to get made. I also ordered soup ( which they didn't even offer a hot one after waiting again) and when I told them this was a bad service I got the " oh we said sorry and made u another sandwich ".
