Staff are friendly and the menu is very diverse. In fact, this is one of the few restaurants I know that have an all you can eat bistro special where the food actually tastes good. The restaurant looks quite nice on the evening too as it is all lit up nicely and the bar area looks well decorated. There are many different items on the menu that I like including their spring rolls (which taste really good), mongolian steak and lemon chicken. All of these are my standard Chinese cuisine favourites and this restaurant all does them rather well. Pricing is perfect with a $10.50 price tag fetching you two not-so-modest-sized portion of any of your two favourites from the buffet menu with a serve of rice. There are lots of tasty vegetables that are served with each dish and the rice they serve meals with is well cooked, not too watery like some other Chinese restaurants I have been too. It does get quite crowded and a tad noisy though but with the food quality, price and the bistro configuration, the restaurant does Chinese food with a modern twist. All you can eat is also offered at the restaurant for around $18 a head however I haven't tried the all you can eat (probably a good thing as I would most certainly overeat.)

It's such a shame that most reviews only happen after disappointment…read more I'll try not to follow that formula. We are staying at the Stamford in Glenelg so it only made sense to try their restaurant. After driving all day, we were rather exhausted, so happy to sit down for dinner early and a superficial look down the street did not seem to bode well for a quiet dinner. Probably a little too early and with the restaurant empty, I opted for their Singapore specials. Very quickly started off with entrees of vegetarian spring rolls and Singaporean curry puffs. Both nice and the curry puffs very well spiced but not exceptional. Then, although waiting staff were quite pleasant (perhaps the lovely young lady might have stopped chewing gum during service) and reasonably efficient we now waited almost an hour before the mains were served. As I was already exhausted this was quite a struggle but eventually my Nasi Goren's arrived. It was actually lovely. Well flavored and nicely prepared. Had an LPA to wash it all down and then retired for a good sleep

One of life's pleasures is an indulgent high tea. How about a Guinness World Record breaking…read moreattempt high tea, with 549 other guests, al fresco, on Glenelg pier? Who would dream up such a thing? The Stamford Grand as it turns out. With no advertising, the event sold out within 2 weeks. Sun shining and sea breeze blowing, we signed the Guinness World Record register for the World's Longest Cream Tea, found our seats, and were offered a glass of Jacobs Creek bubbles. Everyone was jolly, despite the increasing sea gusts, as we were all in it to support Novita Children's Services. We were dutifully informed that there was a contingency of Guinness World Record officials monitoring our every move. The defining act - taking at least one sip of tea and eating at least one bite of scone each - to secure the record. A tantalising glimpse at the menu tempted us as we sipped bubbly and were offered refills of our tea by a smiling steward. Before too long, and surprisingly quick given the huge amount of people to cater for, a two tier stand arrived laden with sandwiches, hot savouries including the Stamford Grand's signature curry (chicken) puff and tandoori chicken skewers, scones, and teeny cakes. There were fruit tarts, banana cake squares, mixed berry mouse, and mango pavlova's. Awaiting a special meal (vegetarian) I was informed that I would get my very own plate. Well given the chill wind I couldn't wait and did my bit for the Guinness World Record and sampled the scones and other sweets. The scones were perfectly warm and short, accompanied with a variety of jams and whipped cream. My favourite sweet was the fruit tart with lovely pastry, custard and glazed fruit. Having been marked off the register for the Record, my individual vegetarian plate arrived. It is most impressive that dietary considerations are accommodated for such a large scale event. Plus everything on the plate was delicious! A vegie skewer of barbequed veg had nice smokey and sweet flavour, there was a tasty samosa, finger sandwiches including pesto sun dried veg, guacamole, and salad, a piece of orange syrup cake, and carrot & walnut cake. It was at about this point that a particularly gusty burl of wind air lifted my mother in law's hat and sent it soaring effortlessly across the jetty onto the beach below. Justin Higgins, General Manager of the Stamford Grand shouted "I'll get it!" and so he did, collecting some sir lifted napkins and glasses at the same time. We had the opportunity to ask if the long high tea would happen again, and all signs point to yes due to the success. As the weather was closing in, once we had supped on the delicious goodies, we took to the promenade back along the jetty. Smiling staff, as on arrival, farewelled us, welcomed us back soon, and told us that if the world record bid was successful, that we could expect our certificates in the mail.

You don't really have to dress up and the kids can make a little noise or eat their chicken wings with their fingers without being frowned upon. In fact I like this place so much because it always has properly cooked food and the ice cream machine actually works (not like a lot of the all you can eat places). They have a great selection of chinese, roast meats, vegetables, seafood (Charlie's don't have seafood!), chicken, steak, salad bar, soup, pizza, pasta, rolls and garlic bread and that's just dinner. Then there is a dessert bar with delights to suit every flavour. Plus our all time favourite soft serve machine!!! (We have family competitions on who can build the tallest / biggest / higheat ice cream tower in the tiny little bowls they give you). There are dishes to suit anyone's likes which makes it easy with fussy eaters, there is always something for everyone. They also have tea and coffee and the premises is fully licensed. If the kids finish and you are not ready to go yet there is a kids area they can play in with a few hames consoles to keep them occupied. Best thing about this place - one entry price for an all you can eat buffet!!!!!

OKie, My first ever Korean barbeque in Australia. Not bad. But the experience didn't blew me away…read more I was there with a couple of friends along with my family, no prior booking, but we managed to get seatings anyway since it's a Monday. The place have about 10-15 tables, a decent size place. The Koreans are polite, even though initially I have some issues understanding them, but they were polite and patient to explain how to order and stuff.. For our barbe, as we have a Muslim friend around, and he can't consume pork, we ordered a plate each for all the rest of the meat (Beef and Chicken). I like the marinated chicken, both versions are really tasty. And the good thing about them is that they provide a scissor for you to cut those chunky meat. A nice touch there. There were other pre-prepared food near the entrance, much like a buffet spread. There wasn't alot of choices, but at least you are not just limited to eating barbeque food if that isn't your thing. Overall, I think the experience is fine. I feel that the price for an adult is reasonable. However, I paid half price for my older daughter, and I felt that it is really expensive when her portion is included in the overall bill. I mean at age 4, she didn't really eat that much to justify even $10, let alone $15(or $16, can't rem the actual cost). I will probably visit other Korean barbeque joints before considering returning. Need to eat out at other joints before I really know who is better. :)

Some of the highlights included the japchae (sweet potato noodles) and the ju mok bap (rice balls) (which you roll yourself - you'll get given some plastic gloves to do this - definitely worth it!) The meat was really good too. Staff were friendly and efficient. It's worth checking out if you like Korean BBQ.

Omfg!! This place…read moreis my new home. Love love love. Cannot even think of any other word to describe this place. I was reluctant to start with as some reviews had said it was hard to order as a lot of the wait staff were hard up on English which usually doesn't bother me at all but with some really random menu items I didn't want to chance it. BUT I thought hey lets dive on it and by heck I am glad we did. It was just two of us so we ordered a split soup of chicken and sweet corn and laksa. The laksa had amazing flavour and I could've just had it as is, but we got some fried tofu, cabbage, bok choy, garlic chicken, enoki mushrooms, prawn ball and handmade noodles. You get to get any amount of condiments from the wall of condiments all the chili items were hot on my list and were amazing. They constantly refill your soups when they start to get low which if you are person who needs to eat everything in front of you, you will fail because it never ends. I realised I would've probably just been happy with a vego selection without the garlic chicken because it was epically garlicky and did change the flavour of the soups. Ordering was easy and we were able to get takeaway containers which was so good because the amount of items they give you is more than plentiful. This place is to die for and I will definitely be returning again and again and again especially in winter!! Take me back now!! So happy!

I didn't get to try the saki but the range looked fantastic - I will have to come back another time when someone is happy to give me a lift home! The atmosphere was very calm and relaxed and quite dignified without being pretentious about it. I was quite happy with the service too - the staff kept their distance but whenever we looked like we needed help they made their way over quickly. My husband & I chose to go to Ginza for our wedding anniversary because we are going to Japan later…read morethis year & wanted to experience some Japanese food before we went. I don't eat seafood & am not a fan of sushi, so I wanted to see what other Japanese dishes there are that I will be able to find when we travel. We had booked in the front restaurant section - there is also a BBQ section out the back which looked like a lot of fun & a bit more relaxed. When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant which always makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, like we are being watched a little too closely, but our booking was fairly early so I guess that's our own fault! I have to admit, the menu was a little daunting! It went on for pages & pages and while some things had pictures & a bit of an explanation, other things didn't which put me off of ordering those. We found what looked like a banquet-esque meal for 2 people (called the 'Course Menu') which specified 'one choice of main meal'. We enquired as to whether that meant one main meal for us to share or whether we each got a serve of the same meal & were told it was the latter. However upon trying to order this, we said we'd like the 'Course Menu' and the waiteress went to walk away. We called her back & said that the menu said we got a choice of the main meal & could we tell them which main course we wanted? I think the poor girl was new, as each time had a question, she disappeared and a new waiter would appear. In this case the new waited came over to inform us that there was no choice and it was a set menu. As the set menu contained nearly all seafood, it was back to the drawing board! Eventually we ordered & the food arrived within about 15 minutes. Overall it was what we expected from the menu and was very nice. There seemed to be a lot of Japanese patrons coming in (most going out the back to the BBQ area) so perhaps for Japanese or people who are familiar with Japanese food, the experience would be a bit better. However, while the food we eventually ordered was lovely, we felt the service could've been better to made us feel a bit more comfortable with the ordering process & to familiarise us with the menu. Wish us luck in Japan!
