Had a few bottles of white wine and their Legend red cab. We loved the flavor of Muscadine ( even though I prefer dry wines myself, this was a very yummy ). Host was very friendly and helpful and I will def recommend to try out their wine. read more

Cades Cove Cellars in Townsend was definitely by far my favorite winery visit of the wineries we went to in the area as the wines were great, along with service. They allow you to try 3 for free, but they also allow you to share. So here is what we had: *Firefly (Blackberry) - good with a hint of blackberry. *Sweet White Muscadine - Good muscadine flavor, nice and sweet. *Harvest Moon - sweet and very smooth, really good. *Ursa Major (Blueberry) - loved this one, sweet, great flavor with a hint of fizz. It had really good blueberry flavor. *Rustic Cabin Red - like grape juice *Sweet Red Muscadine - very good muscadine flavor, nice and sweet. My top 4: Ursa Major, Sweet Red Muscadine, Harvest Moon, and Sweet White Muscadine. My husband's top 4: Sweet White Muscadine, Ursa Major, Harvest Moon, and Sweet Red Muscadine. We got a glass of the Ursa Major and Sweet White Muscadine. My only complaint was that the price of the glass, was over the top. We should have just got a bottle to split as we did not realize how expensive the glasses were - no wonder it is not listed on the menu. Writing this review makes me wish we left with a couple bottles of wine as this ended up being our favorite winery, but now we know when we travel to that area. read more

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. The service was great. We tried 3 complementary wines a piece and were offered an additional 4 tastings each for $5. We left with a bottle of wine and mulled spices for a gift. Sit on the porch and have a warm...yes warm glass of mulled wine. Relax...you're in the Smokey's. read more

Very pretty spot, but beware ULTRA liberal. The ONLY spot anywhere that literally: 1) will not let you come in without a mask AND 2) I kid you not: asks you to pull your mask on and off between EACH sample. I honestly don't remember much about the wines because of the experience. I do remember them being fairly expensive though. read more

Stopped in after running past in the morning during the half marathon and seeing the "free wine tasting" sign. We walked in about 15 minutes before they closed so we were the only ones there, but they didn't rush us at all! Tasting sizes were no more than a sip or two, but you do get to try 4 different wines. I ended up buying a bottle of the blackberry wine to take home - it's made with blackberries instead of grapes. They had a couple of wines that are made locally and a cute little shop with some decorations and accessories too. They do not serve any food. read more

The wine itself tasted fine but everything else was not so nice. The young lady pouring the wine was brusque almost to the point of being rude. In my opinion the employee pouring the wine should explain what you're drinking and answer any questions. Ostensibly they are trying to sell you the wine. With other choices nearby why would I ever come back? read more

I guess wine tastings in Connecticut are different. In CT you pay for a tasting, but get 5 pours and a glass. Here you get 5 free pours and then after they charge you for the more "sips". That's fine but I feel that going to a winery should be an experience and did not feel this way when I came here. Our server was nice enough but I felt rushed which was strange as we got there when we they opened and we were the only one there. On top of that they source their grapes from all over so it is more if a sourced winery than a working winery. As for the wines, they were almost all sweet, even the reds. So be aware of that if you like a dryer wine. We did find some wines that we liked and purchased a b Couple of bottles to commemorate our time in TN. The space itself is nice and a nice stop on the way into or out of the Smokey Mountains. Just know what you are getting when you stop here. read more

I wanted to like this place as it's a local winery close to home but I just can't. All of their wines are sweet, which is just an individual preference I guess but the staff wasn't that friendly either. I felt like it was a chore to let me have a tasting. The storefront is very nice and if you like really sweet wines it might be worth checking out but expect to pay a little more than you would expect. read more

Although this place wasn't too busy, the employees were fantastic. Tastings were free for up to four wines and there was no pressure to spend money. I got the impression that their main focus was to educate us about their products and their community, which made for a wonderful experience. Some of the wines weren't to my taste, but there are at least 15 so there's probably something for most people. There's some merchandise around, but we didn't really pay attention to it. Cases cove is a little drive but the service was amazing. They have a wine slushy as part of their tasting. The peach Slushy was unbelievable. There were also multiple wines that my husband a non wine drinker liked as well. Take the scenic drive to this location. It is worth that. read more

We stopped in five minutes prior to closing unbeknownst to us. They still took care of us. The wines were all excellent and the shop items were unique. Definitely recommend a pit stop. read more

Their Tastings were free which you find at most wineries. The young girl was not as helpful with our selections. We are moscato drinkers but their moscatos were super sweet. We decided to order two wine slushees after the tastings. How can you go wrong with that, right? We usually pay $7 for a slushie so we didn't even question the price. They were $13 each and were not even good slushees. Will not be back. read more

Very disappointing experience. There was a nasty sign on the door saying to stay outside unless invited in. That should have been our first clue. Once inside the woman behind the counter continued to treat us rudely! Better to just skip it. There are many other wineries in the area that would love your business. read more

Nice initial visit - bought 6 bottles of lovely desert wines, they weren't outstanding but nonetheless interesting. I decided to call and order more and found the experience off putting. The person I spoke to was matter of fact about ordering online (they won't take an order on the phone) and while there are is a discount coupon it is for 1 specific wine only. I opined that I could find a nice desert wine locally and I was told that Cades Cove does not sell outside of Tennessee. Cute little winery store but they don't own a vineyard they buy their grapes from vineyards so, what is so special about Cades Cove Winery? Not the people skills. I would have given them zero stars if I could - that was the level of interest they showed in us. 2 associates with only 2 other customers in the store and neither associate made any effort to engage with us in any manner. A 'hello' or 'welcome' would have been really nice. A 'I'll be right with you' would have been appreciated. After 10 minutes, we'd have settled for even a glancing attempt at eye contact or failing that ANY sign that they had acknowledged our physical presence, proving to us that we were not, in fact, already sampling some of their (from previous reviews, mediocre at best) wines in some sort of alternate reality somewhere. Tried several of the red wines available. Was hoping to enjoy a hearty Cab or a luscious Zinfandel but found most of there reds to be in the flat side missing that aged oak barrel flavor. The tannins and acid of a good Cab were missing and the other reds were just a bit on the sweat side. If your heading to Townsend for a few nights BYOB. You really won't find what I would call a good wine. But stop in and see for yourself. They have tasting and your taste may differ from mine. read more

Visited Cades Cove with my husband. We did the free wine tasting. Good wine, friendly employees, and pretty decent discounts as well.

We have been to many wineries and this is the worst we have ever visited. All of the wines lack complexity. And the one note that dominates makes them practically undrinkable. We have never left a winery without buying a bottle--until we visited here. And, the experience was equally bad. Two different people helped with our tastings. The first ran our glasses under the faucet before giving us a taste of a new wine. Thus, pouring the wine over the remaining water. The second (who seemed to be the owner) didn't even bother with that. He just dumped new wine into the glass that still had remnants of the last wine we tasted. When another taster asked him about pairings, he basically told them all of that kind of thing is nonsense. We visit Townsend twice a year and would love to have a winery we can visit. I hope they hire someone to make this place worth the visit. read more
