They do not have extended hours as they are not a daycare. But if you can make their hours work for you, do it!

The faculty and staff members have all been great to work with and extremely open with communication when needed. We ran into a rough patch with our son at the end of 1st and beginning of 2nd grade with staying on task and completing work which was frustrating, but in working with Mrs. Salvatori (Principal) and Ms. Vernetta (Preschool Director/HR) we were able to work together to place him in a class with a teacher he absolutely adores (Mrs. Schaller, who he thankfully has again for 3rd) and he once again loves learning. Our daughter started kindergarten this year with Mrs. Haschke which has also been phenomenal! One other thing I need to add, especially after reading through some of the other reviews is that it's not just us (my husband and I) that love the Self Development family - our kids do as well. When the pandemic was at it's peak in sprint/summer of 2020, we kept the kids home for 6 weeks and every single morning they would get up and beg to go back and play with their friends because they missed them and the staff. It's not uncommon for our daughter to run to give the staff hugs or share her accomplishments in learning with them - and they help celebrate it! Seeing the smiles on our kids faces when we pick up/drop off each day reinforces our choice to trust Self Development Preschool/Academy with our little learners.

Being a first time parent and transitioning your child from being with you 24/7 to daycare is tough, for child and parent alike. What I found incredibly helpful was the time Ms. Penny took to answer all of our questions and make us feel confident in our decision. The transition was very smooth, our little one runs to the door every time we say it's time for school. He often just runs straight into the classroom, already busy playing, a true reflection of his teachers' supportive and caring nature. He is confident and at ease, and what's been most surprising is how much his knowledge and learning continue to expand. From watching him dance with his classmates to fun tunes, to seeing him replicate that at home, or hearing him point to our eyes and ears and say the words, every day feels like he develops a new skill. His vocabulary and social skills are both continuously growing. Although leaving your child to go to work never gets easier, I have full peace of mind knowing he is in the right hands. We are constantly updated with pictures and videos from his day, along with fun events, dress-up days, learning milestones, and classroom activities. They also have an amazing backyard with real grass for the kids to run around in, and even a splash area during the summer. My daughter has been going there for almost 6 months and I've never once seen a television screen or a movie playing. She is a very energetic child who is not always the easiest to deal with and yet the staff they handle her beautifully . They do arts and crafts all week long and she's always coming home with very cute projects that she made in school. The playground is incredible. Very safe, brand new and enclosed. We pay cash out-of-pocket and it's reasonably priced and includes meals and snacks . I honestly am very happy and most importantly my daughter loves going to school and she has tried other preschools where she was not happy to go to school. :) The vibes here feel really good.
