Good grief my last review of this location (or at least the last one visible on Yelp) was over 6…read moreyears ago when a cappuccino was £1. Today with my membership card (free) it was £3.16. We got two ice cream sundaes and cappuccinos and sat outside in warm sunshine. As we are at the start of our two month 'nice to know ya' tour we loaded up on chocolate. We'll visit hotel places that we've been before in the South of France, Andorra and Spain to say thanks for the memories, as I'm afraid out best before dates are running out but it couid be worse it could be our use before dates instead. We've never had a bucket let alone a bucket list but what we do have is a book it list. As an example of hope over experience I've booked a 40 day Caribbean holiday to start the first week in January 2027. I do have all year round travel insurance though as that's sensible. It's approaching dusk in Vatican City and as I write still no fumata bianca. It'll be habemus papam by Saturday and hopefully not a bloody Italian.

This branch of Hotel Chocolat is located inside the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet in Ellesmere…read morePort, despite being in a Designer Outlet mall, it isn't an "Outlet" store, and basically is a typical Hotel Chocolat store, it is a slightly larger branch than my local store at the Manchester Arndale and Manchester Market Street, yet it does not have a cafe which some larger stores have such as the one in Liverpool, which are some of the closest other branches this chain has to this one. The service here was lacking, especially compared to other stores which was a shame, based on past experience, more recently at a branch in Newcastle, and the Manchester Market Street branch, I've been impressed with the service and friendly staff, they were engaged and wanted to help the customer, offering samples etc and talking about products, sadly this was not the case here. The product range was fine, and basically pretty typical of the Hotel Chocolat brand, which is a premium chocolate brand which sells chocolates with a sort of twist, such as a chocolate infused iced tea, which I have not tried yet, having been put off by the price and the unusual nature of the product, and the fact I don't see them sell that many either in any of their stores. As mentioned, the location is okay in the Designer Outlet, yet slightly out of place, perhaps it would be better in the "shops" part, away from the Outlet stores, the service also is poor, yet the overall feel of the store is okay to warrant a two-star rating.

Works out about £25 a kilo. There's a rich melting smoothness to their processed chocolate and the mouth feel is delicious. Our favourites are the the gianduia baton and the cube shaped Nuxor gianduia with a whole hazelnut in each cube. The servers are always a smiling friendly bunch, handing out free truffle sweets as customers go through the door. The store was frenetic with people queued up to get in as it's black eye Friday weekend and its 29 days to Christmas so it was noisy hectic. You'd think there was an international shortage chocolate the way some folks were behaving. To me it was Lindt & Sprüngli. It was confectioner David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann who started it all being the first to produce chocolate in solid form in the German-speaking area of Switzerland. By 1930, the company's name changed to Chocoladefabriken Lindt & Sprüngli AG. Now it's a world wide super brand.

Well we can now, because they have a discounted outlet in Cheshire Oaks outlet village in Ellesmere Port. This place is soo good, it smells of chocolate when you walk in, they have a wide range of Lindt products, some of which are discounted up to around 30% off their RRP. They stock a massive range of their branded chocolate bars which range from 55% cocoa up to 88% (too bitter for my liking) cocoa! They occasionally do great offers like but so many bars get something free. Well worth a look for all chocolate enthusiasts and Lindt connoisseurs alike!

You can buy sweets or chocolates that you haven't seen for a while or stock up on all your favourites. I love the clear packaging your sweets are wrapped in to take home. They have a few sugar free items too so not everything is bad for your teeth. They have goody bags for kids and hampers as gifts. Located in the heart of the Chester city centre, a must for tourists or the locals.

Its also a great place to go to get those last minute gifts you forget about. they have sweetie gift sets made up, and some hampers, all at reasonable prices. these are usually seasonable so for example, at halloween, you can find little sets with halloween sweets and the same at christmas. It may be quite a small store, but the vast array of different kinds of sweets more than makes up for the cramped surroundings. the staff are really friendly and know everything there is to know about their sweets. which is ideal if you are buying fro someone with allergies.

They even sell reconditioned ones if somebody wants one at a better price. The best thing about this as a discount outlet is that the themes etc are always current so you're not offered Easter stuff at Christmas!

The hand-crafted jewellery is by mum and daughter design combo Kathie and Hattie Grimes. The jewellery has a very unique form and delicate. Types of jewellery iclude bracelets, earrings, necklaces and rings. The little showroom/ workshop nestles under the eaves of the Grade 11 listed shop on the first floor. Downstairs is the chocolatier part of the shop with a wide wide range of traditional sweets. My favourite are the chocolate farmyard including a milk chocolate owl, a white chocolate sheep, a white chocolate green frog, a milk hedge hog, two white chocolate pink pigs and two mice, one milk and one white.
