It was simply shameful to make a patient in pain wil for a full hour and a half for the medicine. I dont equate it to good patient care.

The reception told me that it's $20 for with reading for each step. I even repeated on the phone if "$20 including reading?" She said yes! Other locations are $30 for each step. I need the 2-Step test so a $40 payment for work sounds good to me instead of $60. I come in, it was busy so reception told me it will be about 40mins wait (which is probably longer anyway) so to come around 1:30pm since I had my baby with me. So I did. I waited an hour for the dr anyway... how convenient to be seen for not even 5mins. 3 days later I come in but only waited 10mins (so nice even though my baby wasn't with me this time). I was seen for 5mins again to do the reading and the Dr (a different one) told me that I had to pay $40. I told him what I was told over the phone and he apologized. Said that it's $20 for the injection, then $20 for reading since it's usually different Drs each time. I could've just went to a different location.. How could they mess this up? I do like how they have pillows in all their rooms and the sliding doors.

The staff are very friendly. Pauline has the exceptional customer service by explaining to each customer politely and nicely who are anxious and irritable while waiting for their time. Was told that my doctor had not given me the correct paperwork. Had to call my doctor's office, only to find out that the paperwork I submitted was accurate (AFTER the lady on the desk checked with her colleagues). WTF. 2. I asked if I had to pay for the test. She said "no", then asked a colleague who said "yes". Okaaaaay. 3. I handed her my card, assumed she was swiping it (couldn't see beneath the counter top), she handed me back my card and said I needed to pay. WHAT. I thought I just did. No, that's done by someone else. 4. Constant, incessant interruptions by her colleagues left me waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally, I had enough and suggested she focus on completing my transaction to which I received a mouthful and to which I responded accordingly. They need to train their front-line staff AND they need an additional person on the front desk. All I wanted to do was hand in a specimen and it took waaaaaay longer than it should have with a lot of aggro. Go to another Dynacare if you can. This place is atypical of Dynacare's usual high standards.

However - EVERY time I have gone to Dynacare and had my blood taken by Cristina, the Lab Technician, whatever magic or needle sorcery she does - it's painless and over in seconds. And she has consistently taken it quickly and painlessly over the couple years I have gone, is always calm and pleasant, and puts me at ease telling me stories or jokes. I've been here twice now and both times they were overbooked. They get folks through fairly quickly…read moreand efficiently but their scheduling results in the clients waiting outside on the street. First time the wait was annoying but a little more tolerable due to warm weather. Second visit, just like the first, I arrived 10 minutes early as instructed. After 25 min waiting outside I finally got in out of the cold and was able to sit down. I'm a left leg amputee and standing for long periods is harder for me than most. There are no chairs or anything to sit on outside their office. Most disappointing is that the staff couldn't have cared less. I'm not looking for 5 star concierge service at a blood lab but I would have thought someone would have been concerned about the issue I raised. I just got silence and a too bad so sad look. It's conveniently located but for me that's all it has going for it. And be prepared that they will be well behind in their schedule.

Alpha Laboratories opened up here just a couple of years ago when the plaza was developed. There are a lot of parking spots that get filled up quickly, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. The lab is fairly small inside. The waiting room seats several people, but it's not particularly useful since the wait is extremely short. I haven't seen more than 2 others waiting when I come by. When you walk in, they give you a slip with a number on it. On the other side is a sudoku puzzle to help pass the time. How thoughtful. However, I rarely have to wait longer than 10 minutes. This is a huge contrast to some of the more popular labs, like Life Labs. I've been to multiple Life Labs locations in the past and there's always a line out the door and the wait can be an hour or more. The phlebotomists here also work the front desk. They're both skilled and caring. They get the job done quickly. Alpha Labs is my go-to place for blood work because I value my time.

I had the paperwork from my Doctor along with my health card ready for the person at the service counter. Some services are not covered by OHIP and you'll have to pay upfront out of pocket. There's seating for about 20 people. The TV monitor on the wall displays the wait times before you're seen by a lab technician. Staff were polite and efficient. I was in/out in 30 minutes.

I don't think laboratories are the kind of place that you read a yelp review about. This one just…read morehappens to be a convenient location for me. In the last few months (unfortunately) I've had to to several tests and can say I've got to know the staff more than the average Joe. They take care of you here, not the "in-your-face" kind of help you get from a salesperson at you clothing store. But they try to make the needle process as painless as possible. And this is what makes me happy here, they're not rushing. I've found out the best time to go is 4-5pm as most people try to go early in the morning as some tests require fasting.
