I had the patacon mixtos which get you three patacons of different varieties. This was so popular in NYC as it holds a lot of Puerto Ricans & Dominicans. I was sooooo happy to see it here I went wild. The only difference is that the sauce is right on top of the tostone and you don't eat it like a sandwich it's with utensils. Well it does and it's amazing! Which a hipster vibe and a friendly staff, the Matute might not be classic Spanish food but it does a great job developing flavors and presenting solid dishes. I tried three difference ones, pulled pork, pork loin and black beans/plantains. All three were excellent! Generous portions for the price. Thr only down side i felt was that the pork loin was slightly overcooked. Other than that, great sauces!! About 5euro per arepa but totally worth it. Bonus they dont charge for water here and have wifi! Overall, i really enjoyed my meal here. They have better arepas than some of the Venezuelan places ive been to in the states. I was informed with confidence that there were two options, the veggie or the Caribbean veggie. The Caribbean veggie was the BEST. My meat eating friend enjoyed a couple different selections but her favorite was also the Caribbean veggie. Complete with black beans, fried plantain and avocado, it was loaded up and delicious. (Yet!! :) ) They speak fluent english and are super friendly and welcoming. This was my first time in a Venezualian restaurant so I wanted to try new things. We had TEQUEÑOS and AREPAS as starters and PABELLÓN CRIOLLO for main meal. The food was delicious and the restaurant is a little small (in a good way) and feels welcoming kind of when you go eat at you're friends' or family's house. I totally recommend!

I saw the fresh fruit in the window and was curious about what this spot was all about then I walked in and they had a pretty extensive drink menu and it sounded fresh and clean. When I walked in I felt I got transported to a beach town as they had incense lit and jack Johnson rocking out. We sat at the bar and were in the mix of all the action that this little spot brings in. I ordered a fresh watermelon martini, sangria and then got an order of nachos. The topping on the nachos were full of flavor but the chips themselves were not that fresh. Better that way so I don't eat the whole damn thing, then we moved on to their take of a tamale(Hallacas) omg it was amazing and lots meat in there.. highly recommend and then we ended with a Nutella dessert, it's was definitely a way to close the night with. Cute spot, great for groups as they have a more proper restaurant upstairs. Definitely would recommend and I know they have other locations. Can't beat that freshness, the service and the food.
