We went crazy and got us 2+ lbs of salt water taffy. We threw away half of them after suffering from sugar level roller coaster by having1 lb of the candy within 30 mins... Oh well, it was good while it lasted. Then, we went back the next day and got ourselves 1.5 lbs of fudge... this time, we paced ourselves and finished them over 2 days - so we could keep our sugar level elevated for 48 hours straight... not a good idea for our health but we were very satisfied. read more

1) One word: fudge. I ordered simple flavors of fudge- chocolate and vanilla. You wouldn't think walking in there that by the fun and fresh atmosphere and by the mostly friendly staff that the fudge would be awful. But it was. I received cold, stale, bland, hard pieces of undesirable and unappetizing fudge. It was, to say the least, disgusting. I spit it out and, needless to say, I did not further partake in consuming the aforementioned nasty fudge. Also my friends hated it too. 2) Two words: Gum WRAPPER. All I wanted for two days was a pack of gum. The level of excitement in me going into this store was beyond exuberant. I bought a simple pack of strawberry gum oooohh yummy. Plot twist!! When I opened the pack of gum, ready to enjoy the strawberry bliss the wrapper on each and every piece would not come off. As a frequent lifter of weights I know I am quite strong enough to open a piece of gum. So when I could not and stuck the piece of paper covered gum into my mouth, I quite literally wanted to DIE. While I'm not a fan of fudge, I do enjoy a good piece of taffy. I come to Provincetown a couple times a year, and each time, make sure to stock up on my taffy supply from Cabots. Sold by the lbs in boxes or bags, they have a variety that rivals almost no one else's. Some basic flavors like watermelon, raspberry, plus a few odd ones that you wouldn't have really expected. You can make your own assortment, or pick up a pre-made box. Prices aren't exactly cheap, but they won't break the bank. Nice little selection of some other sweets, and interesting products, such as jams. They've always had a few samples of fudge or the like out when I've gone in, although I've never cared much to sample it. It can get somewhat crowded, so I recommend going at a quieter time (morning, Sunday, etc). Staff (the one that I've seen) has always been friendly in that typical Provincetown way. Taffy is a little on the harder side of what I'm used to, so if you don't enjoy that, either look elsewhere or keep it warm right before eating. read more

Some of the best taffy I've had for most flavors I bought. The almond flavor tasted so strongly chemical almond flavor is wasn't that great. I picked up some fudge...... Mediocre fudge and we were shorted on the amount we asked for. Their 1/4 pound is not a normal 1/4 pound. Beware. In fact go up the street and get the real deal at The Fudge Factory. 10x better and they will sell you an actual 1/4 pound of fudge. read more

FYI Ingredients of the salt water taffy include but are not limited to, margarine. Gross (also i'm allergic to soy). Using margarine is just a cheap cop out. Use butter man c'mon. Cute shop! Love all the salt water taffy flavors; a bit on the pricy side but fun for seaside candy store. Fudge galore for all you chocolate lovers! They've got fudge, (yay!) salt water taffy (made on the premises), and quite an assortment of classic candies you'll be likely to remember from your childhood. Though the shop is small, and, in season, likely to be overflowing with treat seeking tourists, the service is quick and friendly. Don't fear the line, it goes quick and this stuff is worth it! YOU MEAN I CAN MAKE MY OWN 1lb BOX OF TAFFY?! I was in heaven... There wouldn't be those random taffies that never get eaten by your co-workers after I brought this box back to the office. You're given free reign to choose the taffies! You load the box, weigh it, pay, and go. The flavors I got were all consumed within 20 minutes of returning to my office - Peach, Strawberry, Blueberry, Cranberry, Raspberry, and Lemon Lime! I'm so use to Atlantic City where the boxes are all pre-packaged. The choice of flavors was astounding! And at one point I think I squealed I was so excited! read more

4.5 stars... Cape Cod is one of those places where everywhere you turn there's either a taffy and fudge place or an ice cream place. Cabot's Candy is one of those taffy and fudge places (they also have more types of candy there) that have made a pretty big name for themselves as they've produced some of the area's best sugary treats since 1927. They're located right on Commercial Street not too far from the Pilgrim Monument. The shop is super clean and light and open feeling and the guy working there was very friendly, just what I like to see in someone selling candy. Prices are pretty standard and if you're one of those people who love saltwater taffy or homemade fudge I'm sure you wouldn't need to go any further than Cabot's. In addition to the candy they also have a door in the back that connects to a pretty good neighboring souvenir shop that stocks mostly shells of all types and sizes (rarely do any of the shells actually come from the Cape but you usually have to go to a beach town to find shops that sell those kind of items). read more

I had a craving for taffy. Walked in to Cabot's and was immediately offered help, and was invited to try any flavor I wanted. After grabbing a few handfuls of different flavors I went to the register nervous about what the damage would be... only $4.25?! Awesome! Plus a free bottle of water. Win. Such a great experience even in the off season.. The service was great and super friendly. He was very patient and super stoked about the product on a freezing winter day even while everyone asked for samples (cause we all know how annoying that gets.. Well, everyone except the people sampling). We got a pound of the Fudge which was some of the best homemade fudge I've tasted. Definitely recommend the Cranberry pecan, pistachio, and lemon flavor for a unique flavoring of fudge! This store literally has EVERYTHING. I was so excited to see the selection and unique flavor of the salt water taffy, fudge, and bulk candy. Made me feel like a little kid! I came in for the loose gummy candy, I guess they are more famous for the fudge and taffy but they still have a large selection of candy so I thought it will be good, well it was pretty mediocre and expensive and also very small selection. They also had a hot (spicy) chilly pepper shaped gummies, turns out they were really hot... Seriously Who does that? Especially when every other candy they have was sweet. It ended up contaminating the rest of the gummies in the bag and my son started crying. Beware. read more

Every time I'm in Provincetown I visit this place and go wild like a kid in a candy store. As a result I end up with a bag of taffy that supplies me for the next few months. I'm always tempted to get just a few of each interesting-sounding flavor. But there are so many interesting flavors I always end up with a bursting bag! Nothing I've had is icky - though I do like things sweet. Most are pretty tasty; lots of good fruit flavors. In my latest round of taste tests, pumpkin was actually kind of meh, but the salted caramel was amazing! Don't miss out on the extra set of flavors in the back! I go to Cape Cod annually with friends (been doing so for better than 15 years) and my kids and I stop every summer and get a big bucket of taffy and fudge. My son absolutely loves the penuche fudge. The taffy is the best I've had, so much flavor. When I get taffy from other places in other beach towns, I'm always disappointed. This year our friends couldn't make it to the Cape and my son leaves Monday for Basic Training, so I had a shipment of fudge and taffy sent to Atlanta, GA before he leaves. I downloaded yelp for the sole purpose of writing a review for the fabulous candy and staff of this candy shop. First off, I accidentally left my wallet there and after 3 days of nail biting anticipation for someone... anyone to call me, I gave up hope and thought someone must have taken it. Just then, I got a call from my school that said the candy shop had my wallet and they would send it to me! (They found my school ID). Just two days later, I received my wallet with a few pieces of candy as well. My second reason is less personal, but it matters just as much. The taffy that is made right in the candy shop is simply amazing. It gets stuck in my teeth just the right amount! Not so much that I have to get my toothbrush, and not so little that I could just use my tongue and scrape it off. It is perfect. My third and final reason for loving this shop is that it was the only place in a long time that I found to sell two of my favorite candies that I have trouble finding anywhere else: sky bars and gold nugget gum. It is impossible to write a nice enough review about these guys so I'm just going to say that I implore anyone who has actually taken the time to read this review in its entirety to head on over to an amazing candy shop in a really fun town... seriously! I'm sorry to say this, but I got 10 different flavors to bring home to friends. I even made a mixed bag for myself. I found out that most of taffy was not good at all. They tasted like alcohol. I just think the taffy was rushed and wasn't mixed well. After talking to the owner, they seem to understand what happened. Thank you. I would most definitely go and try it again. read more
