If you are planning to rent a cabin in Payson, AZ "DO NO FROM CABIN FEVER, AZ" We booked the Wolf Den 9/3/21 to 9/6/21 Once we arrived, something told me to take pictures, so I followed my gut, started tooking pictures of the cabin, driveway, trees, the steps the porch even the frniture on the front porch along with a bucket that was used as an ashtray. Once inside, yes, more pictures. But I was disappointed because it wasn't a true cabin layout; it was like the fake plastic wood to look like logs. Nothing really exciting happened because everything was closed because of a holiday weekend. So we had a pretty good long weekend with family and friends. As we were packing up that feeling came over us, take pictures. Thank goodness we did a few days later. I got a voicemail/call from the owner, Robert Brucato. That he's going to charge me for damages. (Hot tub was torn, couch pillow on the front porch had a cigarette burn, We did not take the trash out to the end of the street.) I'm not going to explain myself in this review, but I do have the pictures. I texted Robert the pictures, and he still charged us, so we put a complaint in our bank, and we got our money back. read more

I have forever longed to going to a cabin with a hot tub just my wife and I! After 18 long years of searching, I found this place!! We first arrived and the followed the easy instructions from Robert. I opened the cabin door and walked into paradise! The Fire was going, as it was cold outside, and the warmth welcomed us in. It is everything I dreamed and more. Even my wife commented on how this would be a perfect dream home to retire in!! Our first night had one hiccup though, we got into the hot tub and I thought I broke it! . But Robert (owner/manager) and Richard (maintenance) was on top of it! Fortunately, it was the breaker that tripped!! (I am an idiot, I should have checked that!) but no harm no fowl. The hospitality and professionalism of the owners and staff were top notch! The cabin was perfect! As a matter of fact, my wife commented on how we just found our tranquility and wants it to be an annual trip if not more! This was our first time staying at Cabin Fever. My husband and I wanted to do something special for our first year of being married. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: -lots of space inside the cabins -friendly customer service -each cabin has private jacuzzi -most cabins offer wifi -reasonably priced Cons: -the price for a cabin per night on their website is for weekdays only, it's $20 extra weekends and $40 extra for holiday weekends -the website says the cabins have wifi, but they don't tell you that there is a $10 wifi charge and the wifi is extremely slow) -my husband and I found fleas in our bed and I woke up each morning with more bites -we rented the "end of the trail" cabin, thinking we would have a bit more privacy, and we found out that there is no privacy in any of these cabins, they are all lined up next to each other and even our back porch is facing another set of cabins read more

It was nice and clean. I found it very easy to check in and out. There were a couple of down sides though most of them did not impact me much. 2 things i would ask others to consider- ensure the hot tub water is clean. Ours was cloudy and a slight tint though i could smell the chemicals. Also, the fire place had poor ventilation so at times it would smell like natural gas. If you keep it at a low flame you don't smell it. We rented in April and though the cabins are very close together, there was no one there so it was very quiet. read more

We booked 4 cabins over the New Years weekend December 2015. The property is nice, located directly off of the highway, which is a bummer. Our front porch was facing the street. The cabins were nice, well stocked. However I'm giving it 2 stars because of their bad customer service and lack of attention and poor handling of an injury. They have these insanely big fire extinguishers hanging by a hook, no security latches, next to the front door. My mother was opening the front door and slightly bumped it and it fell on her foot. She was unable to move or do anything the whole weekend. Not to mention she was in excruciating pain and her vacation was ruined. After returning home and getting X-rays she found out her left pinky toe was fractured!! I emailed Robert Brucato the manager or owner (not sure what he is) he never replied. My parents called spoke to him, he was very rude and never apologized or showed interest in my mothers condition, he just gave excuses and blamed my mother for bumping the extinguisher. He proceeded to have a woman call my mom, she acted nice over the phone but she did the same thing, excused themselves saying they were not at fault and that it was my mothers fault. I get it, accidents happen! People are negligent and don't think things through to avoid hazards like that of the poorly located and poorly fastened extinguisher. HOWEVER, there's always a way to resolve and make things better. Robert and Carla, don't care about anyone. They have been unpleasant to deal with a nothing short of a headache. We only were asking for very reasonable reimbursement of medical bills. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is unfortunate that a nice place like this, has such bad management that detours visitors. Save yourself a headache, there's plenty of other cabins in AZ!!!!!! read more

Do not rent or do business with these people! Con artists and thieves is what I use to describe Cabin Fever AZ and Robert and Carla (owners). My wife reserved and paid for a weekend stay. $500 was the cost. I came home on leave from overseas and within 3 days I landed in the hospital in ICU. Obviously we couldn't make it and when I called when I was well enough to get a refund or rebook the room I got nada. Robert played dumb which I am sure wasn't an act and Carla was a down right wench! These two are as low as you can get! Avoid cabin Fever AZ at all costs! We rented "Cabin Fever" cabin from the website cabin fever and had a fabulous time!! This cabin had a little bit of everything we were looking for. It had a very nice hot tub, a great star gazing deck upstairs, a front porch for sitting and it is close enough to some "in town" fun. It was very comfy and well done. I would give this business no stars if i were able to! We booked a room here for New Years and a Birthday which we had to book 3 nights as a minimum because of the holiday (we were more than understanding and happy to do being it was a popular holiday!) Out of all the Cabins in the area we chose this one in particular because of the older cabin feel in the woods and the access to a Hot tub for each Cabin! Once we arrived we notice these cabins are not in the woods at all they right on the highway with the front porch facing the road. Also they are not individual cabins, they are duplex cabins that are shared with other people separated by a very thin wall! We could hear any and everything said and done next door! Then the Hot Tub (only real reason we picked these particular cabins) is not working! We called and left a few messages and finally got a call back explaining it is broken and the maintenance man isnt going to fix it until the following week because it s a holiday!. Now we are very understanding people and can see how things happen. But now we are stuck with a cabin for 3 days without any of the amenities we were promised... We asked to be able to use another hot tube or possibly be moved to another cabin if one were to become available... in which her response was "those cabins are more expensive than the one you are in and you would have to pay extra for it!" REALLY? I wouldn't recommend these Cabins to ANYONE! Even if they offered us a few free nights back I wouldnt go! I was very disappointed in the experience and even more disappointed in the lack of customer service! Save your time, money, and make sure you enjoy your experience by booking other cabins than these! *the restaurant/ bar across the street how ever is a great place to hang out and are ran by very nice people! read more

We stayed at the homesteader on May 2nd and the cabin was pretty good! Clean and had cutlery, plates, bowls, kiddie plates, cups, a coffee machine, seasonings, a small supply of coffee, pots, pans, and a good amount of cooking utensils for inside and the grill. The bedrooms each had a space heater and there were extra towels, shampoo, body wash, and a spare fluffy blanket. There were even some books, games, and old DVDs. The beds were very clean and nothing was ratty or worn out. The spa really made the trip. We had a few things that didn't work but maintenance was very responsive. The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is because it's not very kid friendly. The Homesteader Cabin is one of the closer ones to the entrance and there's not much of a yard to play in even though there is a little play house. In the instruction email you receive you're told not to wander around since the other cabins are pretty close to each other. That's understandable but when you have two little ones that means you're probably going to stay busy herding them back to your tiny yard instead of kicking your feet up with a cold one. The nearest lakes are a 20+ minute drive from here and there's nothing else terribly fun to do since you're not allowed to drive any quads around the property. So the cabin, its staff, the spa, and the amenities get 5 stars in my opinion. But if you have little explorers who hate long car rides to the lake and love running around this may not be the place for you. read more

In my opinion... I believe i got a serious staph infection from their spa. I tried talking to them to tell them what happened. On Saturday we got In the spa at dusk. When the the lights turned on in the gazebo we saw how nasty the water was. We got out. 3 days later I am in the ER with sky rocket blood pressure, fever, and some insane infection on my leg that looked like a bug bite gone mutant. MD said it was due to cellulitis. Break out the mega drugs. I asked the MD about the spa. He said, more than likely I got the bug from the dirty spa. I had a mosquito bite that had healed over and most likely the staph got in that way. I have photos of my leg and the murky water. I brought it to their attention. First they said they don't have records of treatments and water levels but they have a guy that goes weekly. Then they say he goes and treats the water between uses. Then they show me a water test showing perfect ph. (Wow....miracle) then they said they keep meticulous records. I show them the dirty water photos and ask about particles per million levels. Very different than ph leveks. I have owned spas and pools...I know what I am talking about. They come back with "the water looks like you had used it " Really? 3 clean freshly showered girls did that in 20 min? No...just no. They spent all their time trying to prove me wrong. The owners wife said she worked for a hospital and said bacteria can't thrive in a spa... .really? I want them to admit they messed up and apologize. Then I want them to make sure they improve their facilities. Hospital bill is 203.00...gotta love insurance. Not worth suing over...but I will keep this post up until they apologize to me!!!! But if my medical bills go up, because I don't recover, I will call my lawyer. These infections kill and they don't care!! read more

I am quite surprised with the bad reviews as well. I just got back from a weekend stay in the "Elk Run" cabin with my boyfriend, best friend, and her boyfriend. The cabin was spectacular. It seems to me that these low star ones seems to be due to their own negligence. (Sorry but who goes into a random hot tub with an open wound, chemicals can only do so much.) But we had an awesome stay. The cabins were pretty close together, which I could understand dropping a star if privacy is important to you, but it was super quiet the entire time so the distance between houses wasn't an issue at all. in the cabin we stayed in, there were doors from each bedroom leading to the back patio and spa which was really nice. The spa definitely was the highlight of the weekend. Yes, the water was cloudy but if you've ever owned a spa, you would know that's not easy to prevent when it's in high use. It is right off the freeway, like RIGHT off the freeway but not much traffic out there so it wasn't too loud. Also, there are two gas stations and a couple dollar stores fairly close which is nice for any forgotten items. One major downfall for me is that there was no place for a campfire and there is a rule against them. When I go to cooler weather, I'm always expecting to be able to make some smores! I'm not sure if the cabins behind these are part of the same company but we drove through those and saw a little run down park that had a firepit but there was no lighting at night so I was too scared :D All in all, we had a fantastic stay. The cabin had everything you would need for cooking, extra blankets, clean beds, and lots of places to relax! We got an awesome deal on it and most of all, and a lot of fun! read more

I'm shocked to see all of the bad reviews. We are currently staying here and couldn't be happier. Customer service has been excellent. The cabin is clean and has more than enough privacy. I feel like all of the bad reviews are from people who didn't do their research (duplex states it's a duplex in the description) and who were maybe looking for something for free. Highway traffic is almost non existent. This is a small town with literally nothing to do here except relax and enjoy your loved ones so there's not a lot of cross traffic. The fire extinguishers are not in any way insanely big! I actually chuckled at that. They are standard size and for what we can tell, securely fastened. My boys (2&6) were wrestling and bumped into one of the fire extinguishers and it didn't budge. The cabins are relatively close to each other but are set up so they have optimal privacy, nobody is looking at someone else's porch unless they're putting some effort into it! Overall, this little gem went way above our expectations and we feel 3 nights just wasn't enough. We can't wait to come back. read more

I had booked a cabin with my fiancé on July 25th. I received an email indicating that my payment had been made at time of booking and nothing further. My fiancé and I have never been to these cabins before, and first timers in the area as well.When we arrived we were confused, we did not see any signs directing the guests to the main office. First thing we saw were cabins that happened to look like they were privately owned and not the actual cabins we were supposed to stay in. So we're driving down the road and end up turning around and parking by the entrance where a private cabin is located. As I am trying to find the number to call for directions and some assistance, an older gentleman approaches my vehicle asking if we needed help. I replied that we did not because we were going to be calling the number for the cabins we are looking for. I had spoken to a woman informing her we are trying to check in and do not know where to go. She had asked if I had made reservations. I said yes,I received a confirmation email. I was told that there were directions in that email to follow and that I was supposed to call before arriving so that they were able to giveback me the lock code. ( per their website "At which time we will e-mail or call you with the code for the lock box on the front door that has the keys to the cabin 5 days before you check-in." I did not receive any). I simply replied "oh okay I did not know that". The woman then said it was right there in the email and I said "okay well I apologize I did not see it". This woman then goes on saying well there are the terms and conditions that you must agree to. I told her "yes I have read the terms and conditions on your website but I did not see anything in my email from them indicating how to further proceed". At this point I was starting to get irritated because I am just needing help and I did not appreciate the way she was talking to me. She was RUDE. A few minutes later I was still having trouble finding the cabin due to there were signs indicating different trails and I did not see the name of the cabin we were assigned to. We then turned back around to the privately owned cabin and asked the gentleman from earlier if he could help us because we are still having trouble and confused on where to go. We had told him we are renting out a cabin. He handed us a business card and told us to call the owner Robert . My fiancé then called the number and the same woman answered the phone. My fiancé had indicated we are staying at the wolfs den and looking for the owner can we please speak to him . The woman says " No. he is in a meeting right now. What do you need?" My fiancé says"well were staying at the wolfs den..." and cuts him off "didn't you just call"? I grabbed the phone and started talking to her firmly saying "YES. we just called you , you gave us the name of the cabin ;however we are seeing that there are Multiple signs for different trails. We do not know which trail to go down that has our correct cabin." At this point I was very annoyed and upset, mainly because the way she spoke to me.. unprofessional! Another issue was that per their website it states that there is wifi there. Little did we know upon arriving you had to pay $10.00 in order to obtain wifi. The website needs to be more thorough and indicate there is a fee so guests are not blind sided. Also, Two days after we checked out I had emailed the owner because per their website it specifically states that " A $150 hold deposit will be charged the day you check in and released the day you check out as long as there is no damages to the cabin or spa". I had cleaned the cabin and made sure everything was put back to the way it was when we first arrived. I never heard back from the owner nor received the $150.00 they took. The place was very relaxing and cozy; however the quality of customer service was not fulfilled. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or family. Providing excellent customer service to your guests is one of the MOST important things to ensure and the key to success of a business. The way that woman spoke to me did not sound professional at all and I honestly did not appreciate it. I may have called her a few times and she probably got annoyed, however you cannot expect your guests to assume and know where to go. By you being one of the employees , it is your job to make sure your guests are helped. I hope no one has to ever encounter what my fiancé and I did. If I read the reviews prior to booking, I would of just booked a cabin elsewhere. read more

My boyfriend and I recently took a trip up to Heber to play in the snow and spend some time together. I was really surprised when we got to the cabin because we thought it would have been a little bit more secluded BUT, that really had no impact on the amount of privacy we had. We stayed in the city slicker cabin, it was so cute and perfect for just the two of us,we were really happy with how clean the cabin was. We did have a little trouble using our phones but that was not a big deal to us, the whole point of the trip was to spend time with each other and not on our devices.I really enjoyed myself and I will definitely head back up there next January read more
