I last minute decided to change up my hair. I called Cabello's two nights ago to see if they had any appoints available for the next day. A nice woman picked up the phone instantly and I was able to make an appointment for that following morning. I walked in and was greeted by a welcoming and friendly hostess! The ambiance of the salon was clean, chic, and cozy. The wait was short because I was the first appointment for the day with Valerie Young. She made me feel very comfortable and offered suggestions to the hair cut I showed her to fit my hair type, face shape, and look I was going for. I think she did a wonderful job and it looks just like the picture!! The price for the cut and the glaze is amazing too! I highly suggest going to Cabello's and making an appointment with Valerie Young! read more

Today, I visited this salon for a full head of highlights with some lowlights. I showed clear reference photos and explained that while I typically receive a bleach and tone, I wanted to add subtle dimension so the grow-out would be softer. I explicitly stated that I still wanted my hair nearly all platinum. After the service was completed and my hair was washed, I immediately mentioned that the color was much darker than expected. I still paid and left because I wanted a second opinion before reacting. When I arrived home, I discovered that bleach had been left on the back of my neck and in my hair, which is unacceptable and concerning from a safety and professionalism standpoint. Upon further inspection, I also realized the final result was significantly darker than my hair was before and did not resemble the photos or description of what I requested. I had specifically asked for the front to remain fully blonde, which it no longer was. I returned to the salon and asked to speak with the owner. I was told she was not present. I explained the issues to another employee, showed the same reference photos again, and pointed out the bleach that had been left on me. I was told the salon does not offer refunds and that someone could redo my hair. I explained that I was not comfortable having the service redone, and I was told they would "wait to see" if the owner responded. While waiting, the employee returned visibly frustrated and stated she "didn't understand what I wanted," despite me calmly reiterating my concerns and showing the photos again. I again requested to speak with the owner directly and asked when she would be available. I was told no--not tomorrow, not later in the week, and not next week--and was informed the salon would be closed for Christmas. I was told I would not be able to speak to the owner at all and should speak to her instead, as she was "like a manager." During this interaction, she dismissed my concern about bleach being left on my skin by saying "that's something that happens." At this point, I felt increasingly uncomfortable due to her tone and behavior. My sister was quietly on the phone for support and did not speak; nevertheless, the employee accused me of involving her and asked me to step outside. I declined because I did not feel comfortable. I was then told I was being combative, which was untrue. Overwhelmed by the hostility and lack of professionalism, I became emotional and began crying. The employee responded by stating she was "done" with me and walked away, leaving me alone and visibly upset in the salon. I have never experienced such unprofessional, dismissive, and hostile behavior in a professional setting--especially one involving chemical services. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Board of Cosmetology and pursuing additional actions as appropriate. read more

First time customer. Brooke did a wonderful job cutting my hair! The shop is beautiful and clean.

Completely botched my friend's hair, left bleach on her neck, and manager was extremely rude when she was balling crying because of what they did to her. Paid over $200 for a terrible job and did not help her in anyway and would not let her speak to the owner of the salon. Whoever the owner is does not actually participate in the salon and leaves her terrible employees to do damage control for her. Don't go to Cabello's unless you want to encounter disrespectful stylist that are not trained, waste your money to be unsatisfied, and leave the salon crying. Absolutely terrible. read more

I've been working with a highlighted/balayage style for a couple years now and was ready for a change. The last visits to other salons left my hair in bad shape and weren't what I had originally asked for during my consultations. I'm not from the area, so finding a trust worthy colorist was very important. My visit to Cabello's Salon was wonderful in every way! All the staff are kind, accommodating, and attentive. The space is clean, organized and comfortable, which is important since you could potentially be sitting in a stylist's chair for a long time! I'm more than happy with the result and my stylist was extremely knowledgeable. I'll definitely be back! read more

Had a horrible experience here with Ashley Lamon and the owner did nothing to fix it. I was quoted $160 to $180 and charged $227. She was extremely rude when I said I didn't like it then she told me to go upfront and she'd be out with my "ticket" and the counter girl checked me out. She knew she did a bad job and she didn't say anything after I told her it looked swampy. She rushed me out the door and barely stayed up front long enough for me to give her a tip (which she didn't deserve) and I ended up giving the tip to the counter girl to hand to Ashley. I hated it so much being charged $227 for something I didn't like or ask for. I cried and everyone told me to tell them it wasn't even close to what I asked for and so I called and after calling four days in a row trying to get someone to help me I got an appointment and they tried to get me to pay ANOTHER $177 MINIMUM to FIX what I already PAID for. They're a joke and the salon is dirty. I was supposed to have a blonde balayage done and I ended up with dirty looking swamp hair and even my boyfriend said it looked like she gave me bad highlights. They looked like DIY at home highlights. But I paid $227. DON'T GO HERE FOR A SHOULDER LENGTH BALAYAGE UNLESS YOU WANT RUDE HAIRDRESSERS AND TO GET RIPPED OFF. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went three weeks ago to get a cute cut and color and they BUTCHERED my hair. I cut my own hair when I was five and did a better job than this girl did on my hair. She literally cut my hair two inches shorter on the right side of my hair and left many strands of hair that were different lengths. My biggest request, which I emphasized so many times, was that I did not want my hair fried. I have naturally beautiful dark chocolate hair and I left there with horrible blonde streaks. I have tried calling for three weeks and the manager won't call me back :) seriously these people are the absolute worst. do not come here. Definitely not worth the $230 I had to spend on a haircut that I wouldn't even spend $5 on!!! read more

After years of going to Cabello's I'm very disappointed to say I will never go back. Ive gone to an awesome stylist for years and unbeknownst to me my appointment was rescheduled with someone I've never gone to before. Not only did she completely do the opposite of what I wanted color wise, the haircut was equally egregious. The receptionist was as good as she could be but the owner barely seemed to care or bother trying to do something to fix the problem in a timely manner. Instead of waiting a week to be "squeezed in" I went somewhere new and am completely satisfied! Really hope no one else has to pay a substantial price for horrible hair at Cabello's. read more

Cabello's Salon - What my hair looked like before getting it fixed somewhere else - Hair Salons Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

Cabello's was recommended to me by a friend. I needed a quick wash and blow dry for an event that I am going to this weekend. I booked an appointment on their website with Nazanin! The Salon itself was beautiful, it's upstairs above the Wine Bar (it took me a few minutes to figure that out). Nazanin was lovely, she did my hair exactly how I wanted it and I was in and out in less than 45 minutes!!! I will definitely be coming back any time I need a haircut or styling for an event and I will also be looking into their spa treatments!! read more

My name is Ivonne and I called a yesterday to schedule an appointment with a stylist for a balayage and cut. I ask the receptionist for a same day appointment. She was friendly and was able to schedule me at noon. Stylist was nice. When scheduling I asked for an estimated time for the service which was 3 hours. I am well aware that it does vary client to client, however I was growing impatient when it had been almost 5 hours. The pictures that I showed her was of a chocolate brown color and we discussed that for the better health of my hair we stay in that range of colors. In my experience I know it was achievable because essentially that's what I has and just had grown out and just a few of my grey hairs we're starting to show in the crown area of my head. She asure that my greys would be cover which was essentially what you want out of a color. Towards the end my appointment as shes drying it I noticed that here are much lighter patches in the back of my head near my neck. She tried adding more color and insisting that she leave it in that certain area with she finishes drying the rest of my hair. I knew she had left the foils in for too long for when she continued to dry and comb through my hair it was not silky but rather course. The entire back of my hair has a different texture that the sides for reference, that's were the color was left on the longest. I was devised but wanted to get out of there since it had already been 5 hours. It was that bad that a before picture was taken but not an after. When I got to my car and after paying and a generous tip for the stylist's time I noticed that some of my gray hairs on the crown are intact. I am very disappointed in the way that my hair was treated, I feel that the inexperience of the stylist and the inability for her to work through my hair in a timely manner damaged my hair and left it looking dry. read more

I honestly had such a hard time looking for a good hairstylist (since I moved to Tallahassee) but the staff and Mad are the best! I hadn't cut my hair in two years and knew it was going to be a challenge as my hair is thick and heavy and not many people like cutting it. But the moment I walked in, I was swoon by how nice and welcoming the staff is. They even offered me something to drink (water or soda...sorry no alcohol) and the place itself is super clean (in case anyone is concern since it is a pandemic). The whole process Mad was careful and gentle. She kept checking on me (regarding comfort) and even sanitize the space we used after washing my hair and so on. While she was cutting my hair we had small talk and she was really nice and boosted my self esteem. 10/10 would do again. read more

Nice salon, I loved the unlimited wine. I needed to get my hair blown out before a big interview, so I wasn't picky about which stylist I had (and honestly can't remember her name because they changed her last minute). Service was good, they had my hair blown out in 30 minutes and if you've met me you know that's a feat. One thing is, it's upstairs, and kind of difficult to find at first in the dark. Maybe get there a few minutes early! read more

I definitely like to pamper myself every so often. Am I one to get her nails done every two weeks so my manicure stays forever flawless? Not quite, but nothing says "treat yourself" like getting three paychecks in a month. ;) I like to keep things mostly simple. As an Asian woman, my hair is incredibly low maintenance and requires minimal to zero effort to look presentable. A few years ago I had an ombré done by my cousin and that was the last time I had any sort of color added to my head. Balayage is the new trend and after hours of perusing Pinterest for ideas I finally decided that my hair could use some dimension so I booked my appointment at Cabello's the next day. Unfortunately, dyeing hair as dark as mine can be very damaging and can take an ABSURD amount of time. Thankfully I already knew that it wouldn't be a possibility so I wasn't terribly disappointed. Instead, my stylist (Ashley) recommended peek-a-boo highlights to somewhat mimic balayage and it came out wonderfully! When I came in with my Pinterest picture of this grayish-blonde color I wasn't sure if my hopes were too high, but once she blow dried and styled my hair.. There it was. In all its glory. Grayish blonde streaks on MY head. It was love. Thanks for doing a killer job, Ashley! read more

I have not received a response to the e-mails sent below or to two phone messages requesting to speak to a manager and the owner. I removed the name of the stylist from my review because honestly I am more disappointed in the response of the salon or rather lack thereof than the job the stylist did. With more time, training and experience she will master color. Good Afternoon, My name is Jennifer F and I sent the message below to the salon almost 2 weeks ago on 11/20/2020. I know we just had Thanksgiving week so I really wasn't expecting a response until this week. I did call the salon to confirm the e-mail was received. I just wanted to follow up. I hope I didn't miss a response sent from another e-mail address. I do appreciate your time and consideration. Sincerely, Jennifer F Good Morning Cabellos Salon & Spa Representative, My name is Jennifer F and I called a few weeks ago to schedule an appointment with a stylist for a full foil color and cut. I explained to the receptionist that I am new to the area and looking for a stylist and that I have a lot of hair and typically use more color than normal. Together we figured out a day and time that worked with my schedule, Wednesday November 4th at 10:00 am, and that put me in the chair of your stylist __________. __________ was super sweet and professional throughout the appointment. I enjoyed visiting with her while I was getting my hair done. I typically expect that a full foil appointment will run about 2.5 hours and was quite surprised when I was in _________'s chair for almost 4.5 hours. Based on my experience with my stylist in Hawaii I am under the impression that ________ is a newer stylist and I imagine that doing my hair may have been a bit overwhelming for her. I showed her pictures of what my hair typically looks like before she started and explained that it had been 4 months since I had had my last color and cut. I told her that my previous stylist would do low-lights in combination with highlights to ensure that my hair didn't get too light, but that I wasn't sure if that would be necessary this time since it had been so long since my last hair appointment. She agreed that there was enough dark hair to render the low-lights unnecessary for this appointment. At the end of my appointment the first thing I noticed was that my hair was much lighter than I am used to, especially the areas framing my face. I really did not have the time to request her to fix it since the appointment was longer than I anticipated and I had to get to my daughters' school to pick them up. I decided I would go home and give it some time and figured it would grow on me. Since I have been home and working with my hair on my own I have noticed that it feels damaged or what I imagine it would feel like to have damaged hair. For instance, after washing and putting conditioner in my hair in the past I would be able to comb through it easily. It would feel silky. Now I notice even after conditioning my hair it is difficult to get the comb through it and my hair feels course. Also, the color does not go through to the roots in some areas of my hair making it appear that a color treatment is necessary. There is about a 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch of dark root in some areas and it has been 16 days since my color and cut with ________. This is not something that I am used to seeing so quickly after an appointment. The last thing is that when I pull my hair back there are definitive streaks in my hair and it just doesn't look like it is blended well. I have been contemplating what to do and how to move forward. I decided that I needed to write the salon to let the management know about my experience and provide them with the opportunity to resolve the issue. I am asking that a senior stylist take a look at my hair and provide recommendations on what can be done to fix it. I would like to have my hair fixed at no cost, but I am willing to provide a tip for the stylist's time. I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter. Thank you and have a blessed day. Sincerely, Jennifer F read more

Kelsey is fantastic, knowledgeable on cut/coloring, and is so nice . She is easy to chat with as well. She's my go to lady for my hair upkeep and care, my hubs and I drive from Valdosta to see her... that's how talented she is! She makes my platinum hair glow! She lifts my roots and makes me stunning...I never leave with orange hair, which can be a battle for less knowledgeable people when it comes to blondes. Keksey keeps the shape of my hair looking great too. I'm growing it out from a super short cut and Kelsey has kept it easy to style and looking great when I'm keeping it casual. She cuts my hubs hair too and he leaves looking great. He knows how he likes to keep his hair. It's curly and can be a problem for other hairdressers but he walks out looking very handsome! Ashley is quite skilled on ladies' hair and cuts for men. She subbed for Kelsey while she was away. My and husband and I needed our hair done before vacation. She did my platinum with the silvery glow that I love. Sge trimmed my hair a tiny bit. I'm growing my hair out she told me I didn't need to cut or trim it except once every 2 months, because I keep my hair very healthy, their Redken products are the best. It's good to know that it's finally at a length that it can just grow out for a while. I completely trust her with my hair. She's easy to talk to and very talented. (I apologize I forgot her name) She was a sweetheart and very good at her job! Meredith came up and got me and took me back shortly after my arrival. She did a fantastic job! She was a delight to converse with, very gentle, she took her time, and is a true perfectionist at her craft. She has her own private, quiet room and it was truly relaxing. The salon is just beautiful, calming, and total spa feel. The price I felt was fair considering the level of services offered here. This is my new favorite spa/salon! I will be going back to get my hair and lashes done! Highly recommend!! read more

I've known about Cabello's for years and now with their new owner, Anna King - boy are they taking off!! I go in there about every 6 weeks and receive the same great service and the same wonderful style. The environment is very modern and all of their products are top of the line. I've made friends with a lot of the gang there and it's always cool when we see each other out in public. Did I mention that they provide complementary beverages? If you plan on getting your hair colored here, save your money and do not go. I went in for a cut and color and I left with an alright haircut and a horrible dye job. This was my first time getting my hair dyed and I asked for a gold balayage, but what I left with was orange and streaky hair. I called back the next day to see if I could get it fixed with another stylist, but I would be charged again.
