A hunter's paradise. Cabela's is a well-known hunting brand that we unfortunately don't have in Hawaii. Yet somehow we shop here just enough to receive magazines from them via mail. They aren't limited to just the needs of hunter's. Cabela's sells fishing and camping gear, boating, and other outdoor hobbies (ATV, etc). This store reminds me of Bass Pro but without all of the activities. I very much appreciated the huge fire to keep warm after being outside in 30 degree weather. Such a cozy spot to relax and let your other half go ham on hunting accessories. I eventually got warm enough and toured the store myself. Found the boys shopping in the gun section. In order to purchase any rifle or gun, you have to be a Washington resident. Some dude was helping them out but Dad and hubby pretty much new what they were looking for in a rifle. I didn't see too many associates around and only a few registers were open with about 5 people in each line.. I didn't run into any other store that carried Washington Huskies college gear until I went into Cabela's. Quality over quantity and you sure get what you pay for here. Almost everything is a bit pricey, but the quality is well worth it if you plan to reuse it over and over. They have lots of hunting clothing for men and women too! read more

We had just been to the premium outlets and were looking for a frying basket (don't ask...). Someone in a kitchen store suggested this place and we were like "what's that" as we had only moved to the area (Eastside at that) and hadn't even ventured up this high. Headed to this store with visions of some everyday sports shop with a small camping section. My oh my was I wrong! This place is enormous. Need a tent? They have a huge section, fishing gear? Could there be anymore choice than what they have? Let's not forget the comforters, lamps, candles, candy, guns and clothing amongst the many things they sold. We spent a good hour in here and only purchased a water bottle for our daughter. There is an enormous fireplace. Many stuffed animals all over the place and a ton of fish in two tanks plus a waterfall. It kept my almost two year old entertained for ages! So why only four stars? Some of the stuff is pretty pricey, it's a long drive up from Redmond and the registers have long lines! Will we back? Yes probably in spring when we think about having a camping trip! All in all an amazing store and much more than I was expecting. read more

I gave a three star because I typically get good service here. Saturday 6/27 was horrible. I was in the shoe dept and could not find anyone to help. After waiting for awhile I decided to call the customer service desk. Their phone rang for 2minutes and 30 seconds. NO ONE picked up. I waived down an employee in the main aisle. He called on his radio for service and NO ONE answered him either. This was at 10:15 am. I finally paid for the two items I already had and left. read more

Cabela's might be a big store with lots of stuff and a nice decor in it, but that is nothing that will bring me back. There is a ton of staff, but no one is really willing to help you or knows what they're talking about. If I have questions about an article group I don't want to hear "Oh I don't know, this is something I don't really like and I don't really know anything about it." from the person who should be helping me (Don't get me wrong, I don't say everybody should be an expert in everything they offer, but at least don't waste my time). Coming here was a real disappointment and a waste of time + gas. You can get almost everything for a better price someplace else, and if they don't provide any customer service (besides that they want you to sign up for their credit card) you can also just buy your stuff online because you will find much more information there. read more

I stopped in to purchase a black powder pistol. I knew exactly which one I wanted; two hours later and I was still waiting in line just to look at the damn pistol! When I arrived, I asked to be put on the waiting list, the unpleasant old man at the counter acted as though I was intruding upon his time and very rudely demanded that I take a picture of a barcode and go through the process of checking in. For whatever reason my phone wouldn't connect, so I was unable to sign in. I went back to the man at the counter and told him I couldn't sign in, he sighed heavily, rolled his eyes and ordered another employee to "Sign this lady in!". I should have walked out, I know the employee's don't get a commission, but someone should tell them that showing outright disdain for their customers is what leads to bad reviews and a dwindling customer base. By the way, at Sportsman's warehouse, they have a manual machine from which you can take a number, it takes two seconds and doesn't require internet access nor an employee being rude to customers. Cabela's can learn a lesson from Sportsman's. Once was put on the list, I began my mind-numbing wait. Although it did give me an opportunity to observe the staff. Most of them hid behind the "employee's only" door. And when one would grace the customers with their presence they were rude. I've been to many a gun shop, I've bought many guns and know the process and what it takes to complete paperwork. In some cases it took multiple employee's over half-an-hour to check out one person. One. That's ridiculous by any standard. I also was able to observe the customers. To quote one whom stated, "This is a thoroughly unfriendly environment". I couldn't have put it better myself and I was relieved to know I wasn't the only one. I later observed that customer relaying their disappointment to an employee before storming out -- WITHOUT making a purchase. They didn't even get served. They weren't the only ones, half of the people who'd spent over an hour waiting walked out without even so much as touching a gun, and of course made no purchases. I would avoid this place at all costs, thanks to the internet there are plenty of places to buy the same guns online for a fraction of the cost and a big savings in time and frustration. If this is what it's like at all Cabela's, I can't see them continuing on without major restructuring. read more

Wide variety of outdoor gear and guns. The aquarium and mountain display are cool attractions. I agree with another reviewer, that the gun counter service was on extended breaks. I very respectfully walked up to a gun safe sales person and said I'm interested in purchasing a safe, the guy gave me the "grumpy old man with poo in his pants" look and told me to "move over there and wait, I'm helping someone." At the recommendation of a buddy, I drove up from Seattle for my 1st handgun purchase. After taking a number, I waited close to a half hour to be waited on. After explaining that I was a first time buyer to the clerk and indicating my limited experience with handguns ...I got mostly a yawn and casual indifference. All the handguns had trigger locks on them so I was unable to assess the trigger pull on any for comparison. But forging ahead I decided on gun (with minimal clerk assistance) and filled out the requsit background check. I was told it would take about 2 weeks for the background check and that they would call me when it came in. After almost 3 weeks...and no call, I called them to check on the status. The clerk answering the phone asked when I had placed my order and then informed me that as I had ordered before July 1st (when some new laws had gone in to effect) that my order had been purged/deleted from their system...and I would need to come in again and re-place my order. I asked if maybe they should have called to advise me of that and they indicated they were "working on it". What a waste....indifferent/terrible customer service. I purchased from Lynnwood Guns...smaller shop...good selection of handguns...no trigger locks...competant/friendly sales person. read more

The Good; As others have reported, the interior décor is cool, with taxidermy and live fish. This is a large store with lots of items I haven't' seen elsewhere. They have numerous departments in the store with many good brand name items and a lot of employees. The Bad; The store is Large, but there is no signage up showing where specific departments are located. Which brings up the Numerous employees, they are everywhere, clustered two by two for the most part, sometimes more. You, however, are invisible to them, you can walk by them within feet, and they will not acknowledge you in Any way. I was looking for specific items from the sale, signage is not clear on the clothing racks. I asked for assistance from two women working in the clothing section, they pointed in the general direction of the rack and said the sale ones were over there....then went back to what I can only assume was a very important conversation they were having? Sure it says something on sale on the rack, but there are numerous brands on the same small rack and you have to decipher which one is one sale. I gave up trying to find the vest I wanted, and wandered the store trying to find the shoe department. I wasn't having any luck and asked a male employee who was walking past me, he told me the general direction. So I wandered in that direction until I found the department, but I had to go through the entire men's section to find the Much smaller women's section. Again, there were employees there, but no one offered to help me. I found a pair of boots I wanted to try on the wall, and there was a sign that said "find on aisle" but no number. So I managed to catch the attention of a young man working in the department. I pointed at the work boot and asked where to find it, he walked over to an aisle and held up a...fashion boot! So I brought him back and showed him the right boot, again, and he asked what size and went into the back room (so Not on the aisle) and came out again and told me they only had two sizes in stock! I found that to be true in the clothing section as well, very limited stock on hand. So if you want to go exploring a big store to get ideas for your next adventure, or to spend a Lot more money on items you can get else where so that you can say you got it there, have at it. Otherwise save yourself time and go to a store that actually teaches the value of customer service, Or shop on line. read more

Bad gun counter experience like many others that have been here. Walked in, having placed an order over a week prior, and never been to this location before. When I got to the gun counter, stood at the counter near some employees for a while waiting for someone to do something and guide me in the right direction. The employees just glanced over and resumed whatever they were doing while other employees idly stood nearby. Stood there uncomfortably for a few minutes before one of the employees asks me what I'm doing, like I am inconveniencing him. I explain that they are holding an online order for me and I wanted to know where to go. They tell me to go scan a QR code on a sign that isn't even visible from the counter. When I scan the code however, it puts me in a que to pick up my order that I placed over a week ago.. why? I feel like I should go to the top of the que because I already know why I'm here and I ordered my item before any of the people there and I still need to do a BG check which will take a while. I don't really care if I don't go to the top of the que, but they should definitely have a separate line for people doing in-store pickups and BG checks. I would feel a lot better waiting for 45+ minutes if I was at least running a BG check in the process. Especially since everyone in line before me either spends 30 min talking to the only representative about which gun they want or they want to know if they have a specific model in stock, which could have been done from a smartphone in about 10 min. This is for the rude lady who "helped" me to find what I was looking for. I first asked two different attendants about an item in clothing I was looking for, both of which said I'd have to ask someone in clothing, neither of which offered to radio someone from that department. I then walked around the clothing areas for 20 min searching for the item as well as an attendant and no one, not even someone helping someone else. So I then finally saw someone and I asked if she worked in the clothing department and she huffed and said "I guess... what do you need" (sorry if my question is inconvenient, I don't really love just walking around aimlessly much either) I didn't say that I was just appalled that she didn't even hide her annoyance. I was looking for a child's clothing item... so she points to the sign and sighs as if I'm an idiot... yes I know that there's a kids section but I can't find it in there. So I just walked away. It wasn't a busy day, I understand bad days but I'm just looking for an item and would like a little more appreciation as a customer to even just direct me to someone who can help. Probably won't return. I'll just go to Sportsman's, better pricing and nice staff. read more

Their Boat Repair shop customer service has gone downhill, bought a 9.9 Merc. went in for simple Service was initially told they could get to it in 3 weeks, Service manager shows up and stated it will be 2 months I got the impression they didn't want to bother; I will not shop at their stores or Bass Pro Shop again, I will cut up my Cabela's card and go elsewhere for boating needs !!!! I honestly wish that there was a way to rate this place LOWER than a 1 star. There is nothing whatsoever on the shelves here that isn't on the shelves at a half-a-dozen other places. The location is an asinine mistake in city planning, and the parking lot is a nightmare. If you are into the outdoors in a "lets commune with nature" kind of way, there is literally nowhere in the store for you. While they have lots of stuff for the kayak community, the hiking community, the camping community, and the backpacking community, every single one of these departments is overshadowed by the taxidermied corpses of once-beautiful creatures. Most of the items in the store are DRAMATICALLY overpriced, and could be found at any number of other stores for a significant discount. The so-called "help" would far rather entertain each OTHER with tales of their weekend plans than actually assist the customer and habitually suffer from the need to be interrupted from whatever pointless conversation they are having so they can actually DO THEIR JOB. One gentleman (I use the term improperly only out of a desire to avoid being rude), when asked where I could find a specific size and power of shotgun ammunition, insisted that my desire for said ammunition stemmed solely from a lack of skill and that not only my ammunition choice, but also my gun itself (a standard-issue 12-gauge) were "unnecessarily powerful" and existed only "to help inept hunters feel like real men." So if you want to be ripped-off, ignored, or out-right insulted, feel free to shop at this worthless heap of decaying fecal matter that somehow got called a store. I will NEVER be seen darkening its doorstep again. read more

Bought my first pistol at Cabela's; went through the mandatory 10 day hold. I got the SigSauer p365, the guy behind the counter said I got the last one just in time as there was a 2nd amendment sale and they would still honor it when the 10 day hold was over. So, super excited about that & Fast fwd to today; I go pick up my pistol and they did not honor the sale as "the rep did not write it down." So that was lame. Everyone was nice though but I guess money talks. It's not so much the $, it's the principle. But I got my Sig and I love it. I only bought my gun there because I had a lot of giftcards, I wont shop there after that. read more

Tourist Trap and Gimmicky. If you are an outdoorsy person you probably already have a favorite shop. There is nothing at Cabela's that you can't find at any other place. Prices are the same as anywhere else so don't burn the extra fuel. They did have a few "cheaper" items but it was the kind of stuff that breaks easy. If you want to see fish, go to the aquarium. If you want to see animals, go to the zoo. If you want to see taxidermy visit a museum of natural history. I'm not going to whine but I can tell you that I had one of my worst consumer experiences and paid $30 in fuel to get there. I just don't see the value... read more

I did not mind an hour wait for the FBI background check at this store on Saturday. While the "delay" in the transfer to me by the FBI was totally irritating, was not Cabelas fault, so that does not contribute this rating. This poor rating is for calling me Tuesday morning to come get my gun, and when I get here, they make me wait again even though the store is dead quiet. There are almost more employees here than customers. While standing here waiting, I have seen no fewer than three employees browsing the aisles or BSing. The employee who sold me the gun was very helpful, very nice. The gun checkout process, and the supervisor who works in that area, ruined the experience for me and damaged their brand in my perception of them as a brand. (I don't like to shop where the people who work there behave in a manner where think they're better than me.) It is unlikely I will be back, there are many other options in the area for the acquisition of firearms. read more

Not that the measly 5% was life changing but, CEO John Morris's message to the military community that our service is NO LONGER VALUED at Bass Pro or Cableas. Now you know why John is smiling with 4.2 billion personal wealth; he is good at taking from those who least can afford it. Screw you John, Cabelas and Bass pro shops. I don't need your 5% discount, I will keep 100% of my money because I will NEVER buy ANYTHING at our stores ever again. The only time I've ever been in Cabela's was to follow the boy around as he looked for stuff (I honestly can't even remember what he was looking for). On one of those occasions I purchased a gift card for my dad but that was about it. Of the few times I've been in there, I have made a few observations: Cabela's is huge. I can't imagine you *not* finding what you need here for hunting/fishing/outdoorsying. That being said, you lose a lot of the appeal of smaller sporting goods stores like the idea of customer service. We've never been asked by anyone working if we were finding what we needed while we were searching. The inside is certainly a feast for the eyes. Even if you aren't shopping for yourself there is tons to look at from all the gear they have to the display and fish tanks in the back that seems to entertain plenty of little ones (and admittedly, myself). I've taken a peek at hiking gear which can be a great deal if there's a sale, but I'd just as well save the gas money to get to Marysville and shop somewhere local. It's big box. I will be honest in stating that I didn't want to come here at first 'cause I thought that I would be bored for 45 minutes and that it was a man's world. The first thing you notice when you come in as how pretty it looks on the outside, like a cabin mansion and how well organized it is in the inside, aesthetically pleasing. It's like the Wal-Mart of outdoor sporting....without the trailer demographic. They have large sections and a good selection of everything. The cost of the stuff is at least 1/2 the cost than what you get in Vancouver with better selections. I have been eyeing a certain brand of rain boots that here were $80 cheaper for a similar pair. In addition to walking out with a good deal on boots, something I didn't expect, I got some freeze dried ice cream sandwiches. I love ice cream sandwiches, however, now that it's winter, I want my sandwiches sans the cold. Most of the staff were warm, happy and friendly, however, some need to get a clue. The guy helping the guy I am dating was completely unaware of the obvious and I had to be the heavy and do the job for him while he continued to help my partner. Than again, it's the Wal-Mart of out door stores, therefore, I guess you will get staff as such. I used to do retail in a mall, therefore, my expectations are a little higher with sales associates as I go above and beyond. As for my shoes, it took me forever to find help, therefore, I had to help myself. They need more floor staff, especially in a store in which 60% of the demographic who come in aren't experts. This is why I can only give 3 stars instead of 4......they have a long way to go in the customer care department. I love their stuff animal display and the aquarium was a nice touch. Came here looking for hiking gear and found what I needed. I thought the store was laid out in an organized fashion. The only downside is that being a one stop shop type of store, everything was marked up. Thus be willing to pay for the convenience, hence the mediocre score. read more

I realized I was out of my element when I first walked in the door, 3 guys in bright orange vests standing in front of a sign that said, "Gun check"....sorry sir no coats, just guns....eeep! Came in here twice looking for a bow string, should be a simple purchase. They were out of stock on the size I thought I needed. I hadn't done much with my bow for many years, but granddaughter wore out the old string - no not because of Hunger Games popularity, she started using it before that. I told the sales girl I had a 60" bow and she was trying to look for the 60" strings which was their shortest and they were out of. They have the stuffed native animal zoo and a walk through aquarium, but if you want the real experience, go to the Lacey store. This is half the size with half the sales space, half the stuffed animals, half the aquarium, and missing the shooting arcade of the Lacey store. (I finally found what I needed at The Nock Point in Mountlake Terrace and was told there that a 60" string was way too long.) read more

I have always wanted to come into Cabela's because I have heard so many cool things about it. I had no real purpose in coming into the store just to check it out and see if anything caught my eye. I went and looking at the camping gear first and while i am sure the gear is high quality, it seemed a bit over priced...in fact that is how I would sum up this store in general. - over priced. I guess they have to pay for all those stuff animals in their display some how. I did end up buying one this, a map. LOL. This Cabela's is so disappointing. In the other Cabela stores, I've always had top-notch customer service. This store is horrible! Even the front door greeter doesn't greet people. He just stands there staring at his toes or chatting with his co-workers not even paying attention to customers. I am not a local but rather here in town on a workshop for my work... it's a 2 week workshop so I was here last week, went home for the weekend and returned this week. I stopped in this store last week and was specifically looking for a holster. I saw them online but wanted to ask which ones would fit my handgun. There were 3 guys working the gun area and every time they made eye contact, they would turn around and go help another customer, talk to each other and walk away from me, or go to their back room area to disappear. There was 1 other customer - male, who was being helped. I could not find anyone to help me. Every time I looked around and saw someone, he would run off. I decided to purchase a holster online but if the holster didn't fit, I'd have to pay shipping for the return... so I went back today. I found 2 holsters on their website. I wanted to see if it would fit my handgun. The first guy I found was in the ammo section. He walked me over to the holster area and told me this is the place I needed to look... extremely condescending. I told him I know this is the area - which holster fits my gun. So he told me to read the label. No shit Sherlock! I told him I read ALL the labels and it didn't list my handgun. That's why I was asking him. And he had NO CLUE what to look for. He then told me to go over there and pull a number and someone will help me. I pulled a number and had to wait but they weren't calling numbers. A guy just walked up and asked for help. So the next counter person I saw, I snagged him and asked for help. He also had no clue and told me I needed to go on their website and order it. I told him, I was here in person because I don't want to spend money on return shipping. Since I'm here why don't you help me. He told me 3 more times to go look online. Basically, he didn't want to help me. If you are a white male, you would definately get outstanding customer service. I saw this happen last week and I saw it repeatedly today. Any other race or gender - it totally sucks to be you... which is why they are getting a 1 star. How can you work in the gun section and not know your product? I am disappointed with Cabela's. It seems that if I was a white female I could purchase a weapon however since I am a black female it seems that I cannot. Especially since my husband is white. They chose to allow me to do one thing ( put the weapon on layaway under my own name), but refused to allow me to make the final purchase. And they have blocked me from purchasing weapons at the store again I feel it is because I am a black person. As for the background check, they allegedly state he has to complete, because he will use the weapon as well as I. It is crazy, sense I cleared the state background check , I cleared the federal black background check and I cleared the department of defense background check. My bf sometimes takes me here on our date night days for a quick pit stop..which I actually secretly don't mind yet give him a hard time about. I'm a city girl, the least outdoorsy female ever YET I enjoyed checking out all the different guns, bows, salt lick, and random other stuff I never knew existed. I love Cabela's! I live in CA so I have to shop out of state to acquire the ammunition I need for my guns. $40/box for .50 Rifle ammo buuuuuuuuut at least you can buy it!
