I asked about ordering a gun. they were vague with the response. then waited on a person not of color right away I felt so disrespected I feel if I were not the right color I should not get their service. This Cabela's seems much larger from the outside, but I swear it started shrinking as soon as we walked inside. Lol. The staff members on Christmas Eve 2022 were all fairly busy, so no help was offered. The person who checked me out on my first ever visit to thus store was not too friendly. Most items were organized & in stock. It's not anywhere near as big as the Bass Pro Shop I used to go to, but I suppose Lubbock is lucky to have one. Costco (including a gas station) & several other shopping opportunities are nearby. So is easy access to Loop 289. read more

I went to this store yesterday afternoon to replace some lost sunglasses. A girl named Alex helped me and kept the glasses while I looked around, but I ended up taking so long to look at other things that she was debriefing another girl about me as I walked up. I wish I had gotten the other's name, but I do remember her being brunette. Not only were they super helpful and not pushy at all, but they were both so incredibly kind and respectful. I'm not trying to tell Cabela's how to run their business, but those girls deserve Christmas raises or bonuses. read more

The two "men" at the firearm counter on 9/24/24 at 6:30pm didn't even ACKNOWLEDGE when I went straight to the counter looking directly at a firearm that I was obviously interested in. They just looked at me and kept on with their out side of work conversation. Don't know if it's because I'm a female and they assume that I was just "looking" But what I needed was a firearm for work purposes which would have been very nice to have some input on. This is why Academy Sports will always have my business, as soon as I walk to the counter there someone is right away to help! Never going to Cabela's again. read more

We worked with Leslie in the shoe department and she was friendly, conversational, and very patient while he tried on LOTS of pairs of shoes before he made a decision. I had always wanted to go to a Cabela's, this last weekend, I finally got my chance. I must say, I am greatly disappointed with my experience yesterday. I bet my son and I passed within arms reach of 10-15 employees, not one of them acknowledging us in any way shape or form. I went to the Rifle counter, there was a young slender blondish girl speaking with a much older gentleman, also an employee, never once speaking to us, even after looking me dead in the eye. We moved down to the red dots, pretty much the same, there were 2 guys leaning way back against the rear counter and wall, looked at us, said nothing, just looked at us. I understand that customer service maybe difficult for those with a massive BMI score, but that shouldn't keep anyone from speaking. Bottom line; you want my money, then show me a we bit of courtesy and maybe some appreciation for choosing your store. We left empty handed, returned to our room at the hotel, my son grabbed his laptop, I got mine and proceeded to order 500 rounds of 300blk and 500 rounds of .223 online, and one red dot for my Echelon. I purchased a .380 pistol yesterday from them. Brought it home and showed it to my wife for Christmas. She said it was to big and to check and see if I could swap for a smaller gun. They said that their was no returns and if I wanted to get another gun they would give me $300 for the gun that without tax I gave $567 for. Never even pulled out of box! What a mark up they have! I've visited Cabelas.com dozens of times to scout when an item is in stock (for whatever reason they weren't allowing the item to be back-ordered). After watching like a hawk for weeks the item showed to be available online! I quickly ordered it and received a confirmation email! Days later I received another email from Cabelas stating the order was canceled because the item was out of stock. I repeated this same process 5 times now! It's no fun getting your hopes up just to get let down over and over again. If an item isn't really in stock and they don't allow back orders, then why put it for sale on the website and take the order? read more

First, it is a small footprint store, compared to the "mega-store." It is complete! All departments are there, well stocked for the day after Christmas. People were shopping, all departments. Well staffed!! They could help in every department. Most folks were near the gun department. Lots of folks were selecting weapons, well staffed counters. Plenty of ammo, all calibers. Got my ammo and went to check out and a long line of people waiting and two staff standing at the entrance again selling credit cards... would love to go through the line faster. We bought a generator from the local Cabella's. During our Elk hunt, it lasted for about one week before breaking down. After we returned home, we visited Cabella's for a return / replacement. The first manager told us there was nothing they would do, and tough luck. After speaking with the GM, we were referred out to a third-party retailer "that might be able to help you." Be careful buying big-ticket items from them. They clearly do not back up their products like they used to. read more

I needed 3 items before tomorrow morning. When I ordered it said they were in stock and I could curb side pickup, same day. Paid with credit card. Found out order would not be allowed to be picked up until tomorrow afternoon, even though it is in stock. The lead person said I could come into customer service and pickup, but I would have to pay again. I told them I had already paid. Too bad, call customer service to cancel order. I called customer service and was told I had to wait until tomorrow afternoon when I received the email for pick up to cancel and have money returned. I certainly will not have this problem again because I will never shop there again!!! read more

My husband and I walked into the store with the sole intention of buying a scope for a gun. As we had already looked online, we knew what we wanted. We went to the gun bar and stood for 15 minutes and no one waited on us. We went to look at ammo to give someone time to get to the gun bar. The ammo was so low to the ground that we both had to sit on the floor to see the ends of the boxes. Again, not one sales associate came to assist us. We went back to the gun bar and still no help. We ended up leaving with no scope. I guess since Gander left, there is no competition, so no reason to take care of customers. read more

I absolutely love Cabela's they have all kinds of stuff for people that love being outdoors. This one has a lot for being an outpost for those that don't know it's not a full size Cabela's a little smaller than a normal one but still fun to go to and still has a pretty good selection. The only section I wish had a little bit more selection would be the duck hunting, seemed a little skimpy even during the season. Also try their hot nuts I like the pecans and grab a bag pretty much every time we go. read more

Stood at the gun counter at about 1pm in the middle of the week (more employees then customers in the store) which seemed like forever before I could get help. This is after I had 4-5 employees walk by me with out even lifting their head. I guess they were scared of having to answer questions. They lost an 800 dollar sale that Academy picked up. read more

We have visited Cabela's all over the country. This is the smallest that we have been to but they still have a large variety of just about everything. I was really surprised.
