The camping and hiking is mainstream brands without much regard to weight. If you want cheaper but smaller selection head over to Walmart. Prices are high as usual for a specialty store. It's usually pretty quiet and dead inside. They staff decently enough that you can always find help. Most of my outdoor gear I buy online but academy works in a pinch.

Most items were organized & in stock. It's not anywhere near as big as the Bass Pro Shop I used to go to, but I suppose Lubbock is lucky to have one. The knife I bought did not come in the original box, they said it came from the factory that way. I assume that someone took that knife as a return and they didn't include the original box so it was placed in a jewelry gift box. That would have bugged a lot of people that save the boxes and the knives together, but I threw the box out after I have the knife.

Titus took the time to explain details and didn't make us feel rushed or hurried to make a decision. He was kind, funny, friendly and helpful with suggestions and his expertise.
