Its a bit more casual, decor is lighter. I think it may be slightly cheaper (comparing lunch menus). The buffet area has less things compared to Fazenda but still get a nice selection. If you have not been to a Brazillian BBQ before, basically they come round with different meats on sticks and they carve a slice for you at the table. For lunch, there were 7 different types of meat (I think) which included a couple different beef cuts, sausage, gammon and lamb. Previous visits to Fazenda, my favourite has been the gammon. However, my last visit is didn't meet the very high expectation from that first time having it. Its still good but not "incredible". Actually, if I am honest, at Picanha it seemed to be lacking a bit of flavour. Not often complain about it but it was lacking some salt - which you expect with gammon. The rest of the meats were all good - although some of the cuts were a bit too rare. I don't mind rare meat but I prefer medium-rare (leaning a bit more towards the rare) but some of it was rare. The standout meats, and I have since heard they are a favourite of customers of Picanha (and Fazenda) is the belly pork and the lamb. My last visit to Fazenda and the belly pork was my fav that time. Lovely, juicy, marinated with honey and cinnamon. So overall, good food, nice restaurant and good service.

I'm from California & live in Toronto, Canada - you can tell Californians because when we live other places we whine about not getting a good burrito. Yes, but I'm in Chester - I wasn't expecting anything or trying to emulate 'home' - we were just walking by & a bit hungry so we popped in thinking it'd be kitschy & cool. Wow. Srsly. The food is a mixture of cuban, spanish, mexican, brazilian, etc. I had a burrito. I would actually rate the burrito a bit better than most of what passes in Toronto. The service was awesome, even tho I hadnn't quite tuned my 'English' ears yet (was needing translation). However the margarita was world-freakin-class. I was expecting some sort of margarita mix/tequila mixture, but it honestly tasted like fresh lime and tequila - like an authentic margarita. It - was- awesome. I doubt I'll have many chances to visit Chester again, but if I do, I'm totally hunting down this place. For expats who might be in the area: check this out for your burrito fix! Wait, now I want to visit Chester again soon and get all around their menu. nom nom nom

There are also non-alcoholic cocktails like Raspberry Ripple too, I plumped for an interestingly titled cocktail called 'Dave'. They all come in fancy glasses so you can do your best Del-Boy impression with the parasols and cherries! They are not cheap though at £5+ for some, so perhaps a place to visit for one round only. There is also a dance-floor in the centre of a good size, which I'm sure was packed later in the evening. Fiesta Havana also does food too, but although we enquired the wait time was too long, by virtue of its popularity. The dishes that came past us looked tasty and were predominantly tapas.

I had no problem booking a party of 9 (as it was my leaving do!), and upon arrival, at around 7, it was surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening, which I didn't expect. The interior was quite nice and modern, and the much anticipated salad bar was situated in the middle of the dining area. Having been seated on a 'long' table, the waitress briefly explained how things worked, and then we were let loose on the salad bar! So, the salad was alright, and not as extensive as Fazenda's, which I suppose is a good thing, as the meat is the main attraction. As the waiters with the meat swords starting arriving, and keeping my card green nearly always, I managed to sample the 11 cuts of meat they had on offer. The meats was of good quality, some better than others. My favourites were the steak cuts and best served pink, and the grilled pineapple! Besides the meats and salad bar food, in addition that was brought to the table, were two baskets of fries and possibly some light bites (can't quite remember these...!). Overall it was a nice experience, good food and friendly service, and is somewhere to dine out.

However after…read morereading Mark B review he has said he wouldn have rated it higher if he had not attended Fazenda. Looking at the website I thought it was worth spending that extra fiver as it looked swisher. Using the websites booking system it was very simple to pick out slot for 19:30. On arrival there was a reception desk who immediately acknowledged us and a waitress who I felt had been waiting for us led us immediately to a comfy leather booth. The waiter who served us for the rest of the evening queried whether we has been before. When we all shook our heads he explained that after helping ourselves to the salad bar we would simply flip this carded disk to green when we wanted meat and red to stop. After choosing a fazenda cocktail and malbec we waited for our drinks before we set off. The booth was stunning we were walled in by bottles of wine . In front lay the well presented salad bar and the lighting in general made it feel eloquent. Browsing the salad bar made me happy it consisted of various cheeses, sushi, stuffed peppers, dolmas, asparagus, stir fry, mushroom and other rices, roast potatoes, pork stews, prawns in mango, whitebait, chorizo and many others . Basically it wasn't your average salad bar it was creative and hard not to go mad with it. Sitting down with our catch we flipped the disk to green and let the meat commence. The service was so frequent and attentive there were no gaps on waiting for meat when it was set to green. We had beef skirt, pork belly, chicken hearts (thought I would give it a go!) Rib eye steak and various other cuts of meat cooked to my standard I.e rare. However my friend was a well done person so the waiters would cut bits from different parts to ensure this. After devouring some minted lamb the waiter asked if there were anything else on the meat menu that we had not tried. Spying the chicken and bacon, black pudding and Gammon with pineapple we selected these. What I noticed is that they do have a veggie option of pumpkin and goats cheese risotto and gnocchi. They also offered tuna steak for pescaterians. To finish I chose a light sorbet consisting of raspberry, scoop of mango and a third scoop of lemon and lime. Overall I could not fault the service so we agreed to the service charge. The ambiance was great and the food. For £32.60 A head I would say it's worth it. I would suggest it's good for groups and couples.

No one explained how the tab system worked, or gave us a menu that had sides on, the first we heard about them was half an hour in when they told us we had no sides. The buffet section was never refilled, despite us pointing out they had run out of a lot of the options and we were told it was looked at. Finally, we were asked for more drinks, only for one of the staff to come over and tell us very rudely that we had precisely 12 minutes to leave because our slot was running out, despite the fact we had just ordered said drinks, and we were seated late, and the restuarant was virtually empty. Surprisingly, they happened to find another place for the party that wanted our table, not that we ever saw them, and we were then asked if we wanted desserts, which were apparently already included in the price of our meals. When we were going to get these if we were kicked out, I have no idea. The meat itself was good, but beyond that would not recommend, rude staff killed what was otherwise probably a 6/10 or 7/10

The Real Ale Trail, The Beer Train, The Great Yorkshire Burp Fest or Angelina Vs The Hop...whatever…read moreyou call it it is a CRACKING way to spend the day hopping from pub to train to pub to train from Staybridge to Leeds with every stop a pint winner on the way. But then it happens, with a dawning realisation and not a little horror you discover that you are 3 sheets to the wind and your body cannot sustain you a moment longer on naught but beer and Scampie Fries. You need to eat. You need to MEAT. We decided Huddersfield would do just spanky, having as I recalled an Argentinian Steak House. Yes I was drunk and yes it is in fact a Brazilian Grill, a la Fazenda but waaaay smaller, no salad bar and about a tenner cheaper. But! The comparison is unfair. Fazenda (or 'Home' as I like to call it) is a huge, slick, cosmopolitan arrangement with more accoutrements than you can shake your rapidly hardening meat stick at. Botafogo is a teeny tiny one room affair with, I suspect, no more than 30 covers. You're going to need to book. Or alternatively you can stagger in stinking of Black Sheep, get told there's no room and then look at the owner with huge sad lambykittenpup eyes filling with sad tears until he relents and tells you he will try and squeeze you in if you come back in an hour. I recommend lots of mascara for a truly devastating effect if you find yourself in this position. One more pub and a zigzaggy walk later and we were enjoying free drinks whilst we waited for a table to clear. There were lots of apologies for the 20 or so minutes we had to sit, but the free drinks and homely atmosphere made this no problem whatsoever. Just like Fazenda you order your drink, pick some sides if you want them (fries and nibbles come free) and then sit back as the dripping meat skewers wend their way toward you, heavy with mindblowingly succulent flesh. We gorged, drank red wine, gorged some more, I was poleaxed and dropped a huge bowl of herby oil dressing all over Chris, they cleaned Chris up, Chris ate for almost an hour solid and then declared he didn't eat late at night and couldn't finish (I stress he had been stuffing his face for an hour at this point), we all laughed, 3 of us gorged some more and we were utterly sated. Well done Botafogo, you handled us so so well. A gorgeous, friendly, low key, well run, well staffed and sublimely well catered restaurant that deserves to become a landmark for Huddersfield. I thoroughly recommend the short train journey out of Leeds to give Botafogo the support it deserves. For Ade and I paying together plus a really nice bottle of wine was a very reasonable £54, without the wine you are looking at less than £20 a person- so get thee down there and wrap thy gums around some good meat! And remember, all life is sacred. Unless it is delicious.
