Came to this restaurant with a vegetarian friend who doesn't usually get to eat at BBQ restaurants, but the menu had a wide selection of alternatives. Meals were impeccable, would 10/10 eat again. The decor was fun and different, made me feel like I was eating at a diner in the deep depths of the South of USA. Will be back :)

The flavor and smokiness of the meats was spot on, and passed the "no sauce" test easily. All meats had a good smoke rinThe ribs were my favorite, followed by the chicken. The breast was tender and juicy, no dry at all. The brisket was satisfactory, good flavor, but I like it a bit fattier than what was put out. That's a very tough cut to get perfect, but it was perfectly edible as is. The sauces were god; complimented the meats well. This misses one star for the slaw. It is a Carolina style sweet & sour, but it wasn't quite sweet & sour enough. I applied some NC vinegar based bbq sauce, which improved it a lot. The staff was efficient and very pleasant, and provided great information about the food and restaurant. I'd come back, and will state for the record that this is true American style Smoked BBQ.

If I said to you, you can go to a restaurant and cook your own meal, you might think that sounds…read morelike crazy talk. But, here's the thing -- it's one seriously fun night out. If you're bored of the usual system (order, wait for chef to cook, waiter delivers, yawn) then Bulgogi might be worth checking out. I confess, this isn't the first time I've had Korean BBQ, however -- it is Leeds' first and only place to indulge, and indulge you should. At least once. If you're not au fait with the system, allow me to explain. You order the set menu -- the only available choice -- and the staff swiftly bring out your first course of five. To begin, you get a few veggie sushi rolls and gyoza. Then comes the first BBQ course: slices of pork and beef. These are accompanied by three choices of sauce (soy, chilli, and tamarind), and about eight or so side dishes. (Which counts as the second course, I think.) Use the lettuce leaves as the base, chuck in a few bits and bobs in from the sides, add some sauce, BBQ up some meat slices, and get it all mixed in together for mouthfuls of marvellous-ness. My favourite sauce was the tamarind, and my favourite side was the spicy cucumber. You also get a healthy portion of sticky rice, which I'd advise to ration -- you get full so quickly! We, foolishly, assumed meat course numero uno was the main course. Oh dear. A second, even better, course of pork and beef slices then arrived. I don't know what had been done to the beef, but it was delectable -- and the beauty is you can cook it to your own taste! I complimented myself many times on my own barbecue skills. Then came the course of seafood! My word.... By this time I was absolutely stuffed, but we battled on. Because, food. The prawns were amazing; I don't usually like them, but these were delicious. Finally, and this one was a freebie, we were gifted a lamb chop! This only happened because the chef is trying out ideas for a Christmas special, but we were blown away. If he serves that come Christmas you'll be happy as Elf -- I think it was my favourite. Pro tip: Go in over the next few days as I'm sure the chef talked about trying it out on other customers with more marinade. Drinks-wise, I absolutely recommend the plum and honey tea (so, so good in this cold weather) and the Hite Korean lager -- it was really sweet and crisp. I absolutely loved it. Both were great to accompany the food. They also have a few Korean soft drinks that all sounded delicious. I'm a big fan when you can order beyond half a diet coke when it comes to beverages. All in all, I'm surely going back. It's fun, it's fresh, it's tasty. All the staff were lovely and for £23 roughly, I don't think it's a bad deal!

I didn't get to experience the afternoon menu as it was a bit too pricey for me at the time but i went there for lunch. Which only cost me about £10 for the meat and sides. As tradition i had soju (Korean alcoholic drink of choice) which was a bit expensive (i think it was £11 but can't remember and can't find receipt) and this is half the reason of why i didn't give full 5 stars because i loved this place. When the next day went to the Asian supermarket few streets down I spotted the same bottle of soju for 3-4 pounds. Wasn't happy. The other half of the reason that didn't gave a full 5 stars was because the meat was frozen, that didn't stop me from grilling the heck out of it and enjoying every bite but I think it would have been a little better if they had actually defrosted it first or being fresh. Again it was lunch time so it might be different in the afternoon. The sides were lovely and went really well with the meat. I was very happy i got to experience 3 different types of Kimchi of which they make themselves because when i was talking to the waitress she mentioned that they were making at the time in the kitchen a fresh batch. The service was very good and the waitresses were really lovely and helpful. And the whole atmosphere was very nice. Definitely going there again. Small warning: Check their opening times if you plan to go there because they close for few hours between lunchtime and afternoon/evening.

She came over after about 5 minutes took our drinks, I had Amazon Iced Tea, refreshing, then gave us a further few minutes to decide on our food. I didn't know there was one in Leeds, so when I saw it in the Trinity centre, I had to try it, after having good experiences with Brasilian barbeque restaurants. Cabana isn't as on the high end like Fazenda, and it does show with the furniture, but it was nice and clean. Having looked at the menu, I decided to go for the steak and palm hearts skewer with fries. I have no idea what palm hearts are, so it was something new I could try. Service was fairly quick and friendly. My steak was seasoned nicely, but the palm hearts were a bit weird and too soft, with little texture. After my meal, we asked for the bill and the waitress brought it over, with the addition of two wish bracelets. 3 knots are tied, representing 3 wishes. 1 wish is made when each knot is tied. These wishes are supposedly to come true when the knots un-tie themselves. The waitress that served us had hers on for a few months already! Overall a decent place to eat, with good service.

The decor is minimal, keeping the place clean and fresh. Looking at the menu i was so excited to try every single dish! Every course we ate was amazing. All of them cooked to perfection and served with the most exceptional precision - i just cannot fault anything about it. The chef, Michael O'Hare, is experimental with his dishes, but they work, so so well!!! You can read Neil C.'s review for the full detail on the dishes we ate, as i wouldn't like to repeat it, but you must must go!! This feels like Wonderland…read moreterritory, and not least because my meal here last night ended to the ethereal, dreamlike trip hop track Sugar Water, by Cibo Matto. It couldn't have been more daydream, if I'm honest -- we pattered along Vicar lane, skipping in the rain, to the entrance of... Flannels, a popular menswear shop. A single bouncer guards the door, checks your name is on the list, who then guides you past the shirts and borderline-erotic imagery above the till to get to the lift. Floor number three: The Man Behind The Curtain. Disappointing lift light -- terrible for selfies. It moves slowly, like an ancient relic with cogs from, at least, the sixties. The art and ambiance is, as you might expect by now, perfectly odd and mostly minimal. We sat next to a slightly disturbing, slightly bondage painting of a woman whose eyes are blotted out by blue and lips, permanently smudged. (You are free to judge me by my descriptions of said art -- perhaps you won't see the vibe at all.) One lamp hangs so low it's merely feet from the floor. There are question marks everywhere and sculpted hands emerge from the entrance wall, all rocking out, "devil horns" style. I won't dwell long on the staff, because although each person we encountered is a whole individual with their own thoughts, dreams, and desires, every of them was equally and unfalteringly lovely, informative, and genteel -- to the point of being replicants, and I don't mean that to sound rude. Now, the food. CARTE BLANCHE 1. To allow full creative freedom 2. To showcase what we feel is right for now What they felt was right for last night, I don't think can ever be wrong. We went with the wine pairings, and I honestly don't know why you wouldn't just spend the extra £30 or so. Each drink --of course-- beautifully complemented the food. The octopus "snack" with capers, and a whole host of other umami flavours I'm not sophisticated enough to call out, was simply ridiculous. We licked the spoons. We cared not. I shan't call out every item, since brevity is already an issue, but the absolute winners of the evening had to be the practically obsidian dish of cod in squid ink --we had the brief appearance of black-toothed witches, which I assume matched well with our lady painting-- and the pork two ways, complete with edible egg shell and "charcoal". Bonus points for this: "We know that some people think you should have a red with pork and some people think you should have a white, so we give you one of each." Hooooooo, lady -- that's my jam. Yes. Everything, from the cutlery to the plates to the food itself: art. Oh, and cupcake in a single mouthful? We decided that's definitely the maximum amount of cupcake anyone ever needs -- it was perfect. No more, no less: I just want the mouthful. Warning: the feeling of loss and desolation, now, is pretty real. I'm sure I'll get back into "normal" life again, but... lunch is really going to blow. And so will dinner. And so will alcohol, even. How quickly one becomes accustomed to the finer things! *She says, staring at her sub-par, poorly made filter coffee and packet of mass produced bagels.* Worth it.

Given that we just quickly ordered a couple of drinks at the bar it's hard to be sure how much this affects the service but, once we'd found a table, we didn't have any trouble. We ordered a couple of from the big, sqaure central bar. You can add a slug of Appleton's rum to these which I deicded to go for. To me, they were delicious. Unfortunately, my partner was less of a fan but that's more because ginger beer isn't really his thing than because there was anything wrong with the drinks themselves. That said, £6 for Red stripe, ginger beer and Appletons is a bit steep, even if it is served in a cool swing cap bottle - it doesn't quite count as a cocktail. I was wanred that they weren't on two-for-one, though, so presumably this bar does happy hour offers on some drinks, some times. That'll be one to watch out for in future.
