Wilco is a great alternative to Lowes and Home Depot. In my locality, Lowes has gone downhill in…read moreterms of merchandise and service, especially their garden dept. Sure, California may be experiencing drought, but if you have a garden section, guess what? You need to water your plants. Lowes has started skipping that step but wouldn't dream of knocking a penny off plants that are already in distress when purchased. Home Depot does a slightly better job, but only by a nose. Shopping at Home Depot is generally unpleasant because the stores are, well, warehouses. Wilco has a much smaller garden section, but they tend what they have. They also intermix some unusual or unique plants with common ones which gives the feeling of shopping in a small nursery. Finally, their prices are better than either Lowes or HD. In addition, Wilco is the place to get bird seed for your outdoor birders like me. Lowes has rats they can't control so they quit carrying seed. HD went to tubs, but they don't have the variety that Wilco has. My only issue with Wilco is its sale of live chicks. I get it. Its a farm store. I disapprove but I get it.

I drove over an hour to get to the store and got there about 20 minutes before closing. While in…read morethe store, I was given my 10 minute heads up for closing. When I needed to find something and a very nice young woman helped me as best she could, but then had to get the Manager. Patricia, Mgr., was visibly irritated that I was still looking for something--I had been waiting for her. She found what I wanted, but as I was looking at it, she stated, in a terse voice "we're closed now." I put the item down as I do understand they want to go home. I just felt like instead of standing there glaring at me she might've offered some additional assistance. Instead, I put the item down as I didn't have time to make sure it was the right size and I didn't have time to look for the other strap that I needed that was there on display, but I was not permitted to purchase what I needed. At this time, it was approximately 7:04. To General manager: Patricia needs customer service training--or she needs a different job that does not include interacting with customers. I spent over $400 between the blanket and a gift for someone. Both employees, NOT Patricia, were nice. They smiled and they were helpful. Upon my leaving, the first gal gave me a friendly smile and wished me a good night. When I had walked away from Patricia and I told her thank you, she did not reply. I did say it loud enough for her to hear. I should think that a customer dropping over $400 should be given at least common courtesy. I know if I were the general manager, I would want to know how my managers of each store were treating the customers. I really like the store and it is an hour away from me. I am tempted to come back, but this was quite an unpleasant experience.

I have two large dogs who eat very expensive food, and Western Farm Center consistently has the best price on it. I also get my chicken feed there, and I love being able to support a local business while getting great prices. The customer service is always exceptional, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Whether you have a couple of pets or a whole farm, Western Farm Center is definitely worth checking out!

We came here to buy soil for our bamboo plants and were impressed by the large selection of gardening supplies. The staff was very friendly and helpful, answering our questions and helping us find what we needed. The store is conveniently located across from Stark's Steak & Seafood, so whenever we're waiting for a table, we like to stop by and browse while passing the time. Overall, it's a charming store with great service, plenty of selection, and a unique atmosphere. Highly recommend checking it out!

Well, first off I went to Marin Tack & Feed for a friend. What I found was a new friend. The owner…read moreis the most wonderful, sweet, and honest gal I have met in a long time. I watched her help the customer who was there before me, and Jessica was so focused, kind, and patient. Her store is well laid out, she has such a great mix of new and consignment items, and the prices were very good. Frankly, I am surprised by the couple of bad reviews. Whenever I see an unfavorably reviewed place I've been to, that I know is not what the reviewer says it is, I read between the lines. Often when people don't get their way, even when they should not, it ends up as a bad review on Yelp. Believe the good reviews. Jessica is a peach, and as I'm thinking about getting back in the horse life, I know just who I'm going to get my tack and advice from. Oh, and bonus, she does consignment, and that's why I was there, doing an errand for someone else, who said she left her boots there for a year. Surprise, it had been 8 years! Ha! Jessica does give store credit after a year, and had perfect record of everything. If I had an item there, I'd call to check on it occasionally, and I cannot imagine her not keeping clients informed. She is a great gal. And an added bonus for me, there were two rescue kitties that live in the back. They knew a cat lover was in the house, and made sure I knew they were there. Jessica was so nice, and told me I could go back there to play with them. Oh, and she makes sure to keep them away from the merchandise, which is very conscientious of her. Being kind to cats says a lot about a person, in my opinion, and they were so much fun. Thank you Jessica for such a great experience!

They have a large selection of equestrian supplies and I especially like the fact that they still offer consignment items as an option. This was great for us when our daughter started riding because we didn't want to spend the regular price for everything until we knew she actually liked to ride.
