Since the band is celebrating their 50-year anniversary (who knows how much longer they'll be touring), and my 50th birthday is approaching, I decided the time was right for a Maiden tat to be a birthday present for myself. There are plenty of "Eddie" (the group's iconic mascot featured on every album cover) tattoos out there depicting "Eddie", but finding someone with experience with the subject matter AND located someplace in the US I could get to. That was a tall order. When I stumbled upon Ruben Barahona at Graveyard NYC, I knew right away that he was THE guy. When I saw his studio, with Iron Maiden memorabilia all over the place...well that just confirmed it. I live in the Southwest, so the logistics of getting this done while I was in NY, around Ruben's busy schedule wasn't easy - but a small price to pay to schedule with a world-class artist like Ruben. I was sitting down with the Babe Ruth of tattooing, with zero knowledge of the process, and no idea where to begin. He couldn't have been more patient or understanding. I could go on and on about what an incredible artist he is, his attention to detail, or his unwavering dedication to making sure it came out just right - but what made the experience next-level was his passion for the work. He was as excited as I was! It was just a real privilege to have him do my tattoo, and I am just really, really grateful for being able to work with Ruben. Oh yeah, and he is also just an awesome guy. Just about everyone I've showed it to said it was the best tattoo they'd ever seen. If you couldn't already tell, I love my new ink so much. I'm from California and I booked with them back in December 2024 for may 1st 2025. I read over their policy and it only says you forfeit your deposit if you cancel 72 hours in advance. Well I'm canceling well over a month in advance and they still refuse to give me $800 back. Which is a lot for a deposit (it was half the price of the tattoo). I see it as unfair as I would totally get my artwork if I were able to travel there and have shamil do it. However they're forcing me to pick an artist I don't know and go with a style I don't like nor trust in a location in California (it's 4 hours away from me) and it's overall unfair, unprofessional and in my opinion just unaccommodating. So just be cautious when booking months in advance as they make Zero exceptions.

I wish I could give…read morethe studio more stars as I was looking forward to our appointment and saw that the building and studio was beautiful from what could see from its locked doors when we arrived to our appointment. When discussing availability, I requested the earliest time Yari had available and she offered as early as 9 and 10am. Our appointment was for 10am and after sending our deposit through Zelle and receiving confirmation emails that week, Yari sent a text that she was "a few minutes late" at 10:01am. We requested an eta and did not receive a response. After waiting 20 minutes by the studio's locked doors, we made the decision to leave. I texted her why we were leaving and asked for her to return our deposit. Yari texted 36 minutes after our scheduled appointment time that she was at the studio. After a few texts back and forth, Yari said that she will send our deposit shortly. It is now almost a week later and our deposit has not been returned. I also emailed the studio's support team (support@signatureluxurytattoo.com) twice seeking resolution along with attachments of my entire text thread with Yari. The lack of professionalism and communication exhibited by both Yari and Signature Luxury Tattoo are upsetting. If the roles were reversed and a client came 36 minutes late, I understand if the appointment would be canceled altogether and not returning the deposit. In this case, the artist was 36 minutes late, making excuses, playing games by telling me she'll return my deposit, and even the studio is non responsive despite my emails asking for resolution. I hope no other client receives this kind of treatment from any business. UPDATE: It is wild how the business cannot reply to my emailS but will remove my review from Google.
