Found CAAR'S Automotive through the COSTCO Auto Program; an approved list of local shops that provide service with a 15% discount. I equate COSTCO with quality and value; thought I'd give the program a try... Bottomline: $80 for an oil change and inspection AND I DID NOT have them rotate my tires. I get a free R&B @ COSTCO; included with the purchase of the tires. Plus, it keeps them on a regular service schedule to maximize mileage. So, if I had the tires rotated, it would've been even more $$. I gave them a try but for the $$, I may be headed back to the dealership for my next service. (FREE shuttle included; no shuttle service here.) The auto repair shop shares a parking lot with a number of other businesses which can make parking a bit of a challenge as well. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/caars-automotive-san-juan-capistrano?select=HbaSRThEleGCxx__l-70ng CAAR'S Automotive has just over thirty total reviews, 28 of them with five star ratings and three of them with one star. Overall verdict: Three stars; $80 for basically an oil change is a bit tough to get all gushy about. The service was straight forward, no problems. I dropped off the car @ 9am; called the previous day and set up an appointment. I received a call at 2:30pm; the Honda was ready. Inside/waiting area - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/caars-automotive-san-juan-capistrano?select=jfByfwLFjl9evOm7-yOP8w Everything was okay, no major snafus; the $$ was higher than anticipated and a five hour turnaround time for an oil change?... (Shrugs) I brought the car in, I gave them a try, and it has been duly noted. I have routinely between 5-7 cars at any given time and have been bringing them to Caars for all my service needs for close to 12 years. They hit every important characteristic you want in your mechanic: Honesty. Integrity. Competency. Customer Service. Price. Once you work with Vince, Dan and their team, you will not ever need another mechanic in Orange County. (They don't work on diesel). read more

Reliable, very knowledgeable, and super nice . If you are on a budget, they will be honest about what is a must do versus just recommended. Prices are fair. Car is always done when they say it will be done. read more

This place is incredible. The owner, Dan, has checked in with me twice since getting my car serviced at his shop. I've never had such a good experience getting my car fixed. read more

This company is the absolute best. They are probably the most honest, reliable, and fair cost repair shop I have ever dealt with. Recently had a "check engine" issue and they could have told me almost anything was the issue. They could have told me it was the " flux capacitor" and I would have believed them. The repair didn't cost as much as I thought it might since a "check engine" could be so may different things. AND they had it fixed the next day before lunch. I'm telling you, don't take your car anyplace else, you won't be disappointed. read more

Very helpful. Good customer service. I like being able to make appointments. That really helps.

I received honest, friendly, and fast service. I highly recommend this place. Received alignment for a very reasonable price on the same day I called for an appointment. Doesn't get better than that. read more

Wonderful service, as always. They explain the necessary service. Once they perform the stated work, if any other repairs are needed you are contacted. There are no surprises! They also explain what should be repaired at your next service appointment. They are courteous, trustworthy and their costs are fair. read more

Went in for a wheel alignment. Person on the phone I made the appointment with was great. They took my car for alignment right away, it was actually in spec and they only charged me a minimal amount. Felt they were very fair and honest, I would definitely recommend them. read more

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT let anyone in your family that is a female or is elderly use this business for even the simplest of jobs, because they (Vince) will take advantage of them at first opportunity!! He pulled a scam on my elderly mother-in-law during a routine oil change by scaring her into replacing her FUNCTIONING battery. A battery I might add that was clearly originally gotten through AAA. Instead of doing "the right thing" by offering his "experienced opinion/advice" and suggest she contact AAA with regards to her battery (still under AAA warranty), he simply saw the opportunity to make a (non-honest) buck on an elderly woman with a fixed income. My mother-in-law HAD been patronizing this business for many years and still Vince had the audacity to scam her like ge did..... Nice job Vince, you just lost business from a longtime, trusting and loyal customer! Maybe you should try and gain a conscience because buddy, KARMA is a bitch!! Again I say this to other Yelpers; if you're going to patronize this business please, PLEASE, BEWARE!!!! p.s. The only reason they got even 1 star from me is because you have to use at least 1 star to post your review.... I wish Yelp would come up with negative stars. read more

My 2018 Maserati needed a brake job. It was impossible to find anyone to work on my car and those that were willing to work on it were quoting me outrageous prices. By coincidence I was introduced to Vince. He was the only person from all those shops that knew what he was talking about and gave me a quote that was hard to reject. I took in my car and I could not be happier with the service and the professionalism of Vince and his whole team. read more

Professional. Fair. Fast. I took my car in for an alignment because of a referral from my mechanic. Wow. I HIGHLY recommend!

Caars is the best, they're the only shop I would trust with my car and my whole family goes here. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs work on their car. Not to mention all the guys who work here are super kind and really care about getting to the bottom of your car troubles and fixing it quickly. read more

These guys did a great job with an alignment and tire balance on a classic Jeep truck that I brought in. Price was about 60% of what the specialty Jeep shops wanted for the same thing. They also balanced the tires with the stick-on weights which kept the rims looking good. Will definitely use them again. read more

I took my Jeep into CAARS for the first time on June 19th. My brakes were squeeking loudly and I assumed I needed the brake pads replaced. I was pleasantly surprised to learn from the CAARS team that my pads did not need replacement at all. They explained to me that since my Jeep isn't being driven as much lately due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the brakes are making noise. Other shops may have taken advantage of my situation and charged me several hundred dollars to replace my brake pads. CAARS was honest and earned me as a new customer. Michelle M. read more

Vince and the guys at Caars are the best! They are always honest and will do whatever they can to make sure your vehicle is in top notch shape. So the company responded to my review which now I'm glad i left a review because I was initially hesitant. Goes to show that they do not take responsibility for their own mistakes. I spent over $1,800 at this place and they're telling me that it won't fix my problem. Well i added/replaced the things they suggested and that still didn't fix the problem. I was going to leave it alone and just not use them ever again, but when picking up my jeep i noticed a center cap for my rim was missing. I asked them if they saw it and they looked around and said no. I drove off and another flew off so i checked the remaining 2 and they literally came off with just my hands. Now they commented said they were plastic and blah blah blah. Plastic or not, they didn't take responsibility and that's why I'm leaving a review to show my appreciation. I hope you guys change your ways. Next time have your guys not over tighten plastic things because they do crack. read more
