We have been coming to this pool for three summers now. The facilities are great. The pools are…read morebeautiful and the temperature is always really nice. I love that they have a splash pad for tiny kids. Seating is a bit tricky. They've got tables under shade, however they are on the other side of the center, out of viewing range of the pool. Most people just put their stuff on the ground and hope to get a spot on the boiling astroturf. There are big bathrooms with lockers and showers and it's a mixed bag on how clean they are. The biggest downside is the staff. The lifeguards are really inconsistent and I've seen people even yell at the lifeguards to do their job when kids aren't following the rules. The office staff are a nightmare. They are so rude and pushy. In the summer, they do an inflatable obstacle course two days a week. The rules for admission are absolutely ridiculous and they only sell 30 wristbands for it for the day. Once they sell out, they just put a sign up on the ticket window and walk away leaving everyone left in line to wonder what's going on. They could use a big staffing upgrade.

Further information is available on their web & media sites. It's free so bring your own skates and protective gear. No rentals. Fun people with all sort of levels show up. You can blade or roller skate on the outdoor hockey rink. They play fun music and even do routine type dances that you can join in on too. Really fun! This event truly brings up childhood memories and nostalgia for me!

You just have to check their Instagram page to make sure it hasn't been canceled due to weather or other conflicts (oceanside_rollerskating). But they're there pretty much every Friday night from 6-8pm which makes for an awesome night as it's usually during the sunset, and then after the sunset they showcase their super fun rink lights and people wear glow in the dark wheels and it's just really fun! They also usually host "Sunday Roll-Outs" every Sunday morning down at the Oceanside Strand, meeting up under the pier, near and/or at the amphitheater, from around 10am - 2pm. Then, at some point during that time, they all roller skate together down the entire south end of the Strand, which is seriously EPIC! That's also advertised on their Instagram page, so double check that before heading out. They always play great music and everyone is so welcoming even to the newest skaters. They always help new people learn some basics, too! I've met so many nice people through them, and have even made a few really good friends through Oceanside Rollerskating, so I'm very grateful to the people who have organized this.

The bathrooms & parking are a bit far of a walk from the playground and unfortunately no swings, but absolutely love this park!! (Also if planning a bigger event like an invite list birthday party I highly recommend calling vista parks and recreation to make a proper reservation for the covered picnic table area!The ranger comes out very early in the morning and mark it off as officially reserved signs! Many times of the day, there's enough of a breeze to keep things cool. Second, there's a fun playground for the kiddos. Even if you don't have kids with you, I like hearing the sound of kids playing. I enjoy that this is a great place to start for a hike up to Double Peak Park. If you are working your way up to hiking further, you don't need to go very far to get to some nice view spots.

Take note- there's no shade over the play structure so I'm sure the equipment gets really hot in the summer. Now for the update: The skate park is great. I've never seen aggressive skaters. There's also basketball courts and tennis courts. Parking has always been a breeze and I really love the covered picnic benches. The bathrooms aren't far from any area of the park and there are water fountains. I'll be back!

My kids were able to grow in confidence on their boards and Coach Kiran helped them be successful in just a single lesson. They learned enough to go home and practice on their own too.

And honestly, it really does have something for everyone: basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, a skate park, playgrounds for both little ones and older kids, and two baseball fields. It's a true community park. The one thing I'd love to see improve is the upkeep like dog waste on the ground is a recurring issue, and the lights over the baseball fields don't always cooperate at night. But for a neighborhood park that also runs summer camps through the community center, it's exactly what a good local park should be. We appreciate it.
