Somehow I accidentally booked the junior suite when I thought I was booking a standard double. So, imagine my surprise when the door was opened and I found myself with a gorgeous room with windows looking out onto the Cannaregio canal.
The room was beautiful with what I assume is traditional Venetian decorating. Our room had green accents. The Murano glass chandelier was stunning. It was an awesome experience to hang out of the window and take pictures up and down the canal. Oh, and wave to the people on the vaporetto, of course!
The mattress was a little harder than I prefer, but my bf had no issue. I'd say the only real downside was the tub with a hand-held sprayer and no shower curtain around the tub. I can't remember ever taking such a well-calculated shower as I labored not to soak the entire bathroom with one swing of the nozzle. But the water pressure was good and the water was hot.
I originally chose this hotel based on it's location. It's very easy to find from the train station and it's just far enough off the beaten path to be in a quiet area that makes you feel like you're in Venice, not just in tourist-land.
There are vaporetto stops that are very close to the hotel. They came in handy as we wanted to go to Burano and the 4.2 which takes you to Fond Nove so you can catch the #12 is in easy walking distance.
We loved our stay. If I ever find myself traveling back to Venice, and I hope I do, I would definitely book a room. read more
