I was supposed to have a 50 minute tranquil stone massage, gifted by my children. I received at most 20 minutes of hands on massage...that was it! Apparently my masseuse was injured therefore it appeared that it was most difficult for her to deliver my service. (Mind you, the assistant manager had offered me a male masseuse prior to my service but since I am more comfortable with females I declined...I should have picked up on that) At the conclusion I spoke at length with the asst manager regarding my dissatisfaction. She offered to take some money off my bill (but it was a gift card so it didn't have any effect) and told me the GM (Sheila) would be contacting me and she would be able to compensate me more. I believe that I should have been given the opportunity to reschedule the service I had hoped for but she assured me the GM would make things right once she contacted me the following day. After waiting all day for a call, I called them. I was told they were very busy but that Sheila had received a very thorough email regarding my situation and she would be contacting me asap. 3 days later after no call, followed up with an email. No response. It is now another 6 days later and I have not received a word from anyone at Woodhouse Spa. Unfortunately they have lost me as a customer and I have made sure all my family and friends have heard about this very poor customer service. What a shame.

I struggled this evening with posting about one of the lamest massages I've had in my life…read more Struggle over. I worried that a business struggles to make it in this economy. I worried that perhaps the "therapist" just had an off day. Then it hit me. Who's going to worry about new customers coming here and shelling out $150 for an hour's worth of mediocre tepid substandard whatever this was? I will. What about my endless long work hours that would shock most people, coming to this place for a decent massage to relieve the bad body effects of extreme overwork but walking out with zero effect? I'll worry. Not one knot found, much less kneaded out. Zero reflexology. Faking it over and over. She started off telling me - not asking me, but telling that she doesn't talk "because she listens to the body." Guess her hands were deaf. I've gotten massages for decades here in the U.S. as well as other free countries. This wasn't just a below average massage - the only massage worse than this was a masseuse in her 70's down South that after just running her hands tepidly over my skin here and there, she left after she tried selling me a Bible. They're so charming down there I couldn't get mad. And I had never returned to Bennesere until today. My prior visit, I was subjugated and subjected to -and I'm not kidding you: an hour of unwanted Russian propaganda talking points. You think I'm kidding? I'm not. That massage wasn't great either and I wasn't buying "Ukraine had it coming". So i struggled tonight with whether or not I should just write privately to them but I don't want a third wasted hour offered. It's clear they don't hire quality masseuses. It's clear they don't vet or train these people. And for $150, I don't just expect competence: I deserve it. Never again.

I really appreciated the detailed attention she gave to my head, neck, shoulder, jaw, and back, and would highly recommend her to fellow headache/migraine sufferers. Easy and friendly process checking in/out with Lori and the spa itself is modern, clean, and a holistic vibe. I will definitely be back!

We were looking at a few different towns, but I'm glad we wound up in Summit because I love going to this gym. Pros (which are significant): - Like a typical Equinox, it's large, clean, and well-maintained, with all the usual amenities (including the chilled, eucalyptus-scented towels). They wipe down the mats well in between classes. - It's less crowded than the Manhattan locations I used to frequent. It's unusual to have to wait for equipment or a shower, etc. - The classes are great--and, honestly, the main reason to join Equinox (because if you need just a place to work out, there are cheaper options). I take practically everything (except spinning), and my favorite instructors include Kelsey, Michelle, and Jennifer. (John T. is also very good, but unlike the others, I think he still doesn't know my name, even though I've been doing his classes for years.) Renee does an excellent job overseeing the group-fitness program. - I haven't done much personal training here (it's expensive), but I did have a few good sessions with Marcus (and a friend of mine has been working happily with him for years now). - The Kids Club is a wonderful resource for parents. It's so nice to work out while someone watches your kids. It's $20 for two hours, but that's a bargain given the going rate for babysitting in Summit. - A while back, I complained about the lack of a juice/snack bar. Now they have one, courtesy of Essex Squeeze--and it's great! - I also previously mentioned the lack of built-in combination locks. Now they have them. Possible improvements (some admittedly minor, some not realistic): - I wish they had a larger stretching area or additional stretching areas; the one area they do have can get crowded. - They should check the treadmills more regularly to make sure they're in good working order; too frequently you'll encounter one that wobbles a little or makes weird noises. - A larger pool, heated to a higher temperature, would be nice. - The men's bathroom could use upgrading. There are only two stalls and two urinals. I wish the stall doors were the kind that went down to the floor and indicated whether the stall was occupied. They could also be cleaned more frequently. - I also wish they had some private all-gender bathrooms (like certain other Equinoxes). - Like every Equinox, they need to upgrade their toilet paper (Charmin Ultra Strong is the way to go). - I miss the old Kiehl's products. The Grown Alchemist cleanser doesn't lather or rinse off well, and its lotion doesn't get absorbed easily. (But replacing Kiehl's with Grown Alchemist was a company-wide decision.)

On my second visit though, Elle helped me out--she was super kind and really convinced me to go for it. At first, scheduling personal training was a bit rocky since my original trainer (I think Joseph Marcantonio) canceled last minute. But then I got paired with Emily, and honestly she's the sweetest and most amazing trainer. She made me feel comfortable right away and helped me build my routine from scratch. Even with a couple of bumps at the beginning, I'm really glad I joined. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and overall the experience has been worth it.

We were greeted at the front desk and brought to our treatment room which was through a curtain door. We were instructed to take everything off with the exception of our underwear. After getting undressed and settled on our treatment tables, our masseuses came in to begin. They started with pressure point work over the sheets to gauge how firm of pressure we would prefer for the massage. This lasted for several minutes getting our bodies warmed up to the massage. Then the actual bodywork began, our masseuses pulled the sheets down to the back of our legs. And then pulled our underwear down past our butt cheeks to expose them for the massage. The bodywork was amazing! They used long firm strokes going up and down our back. This was the majority of the massage. Emphasis was put on massaging our neck, shoulders, and glutes, all of which was perfectly done. As the massage time winded down they moved to our legs doing our hamstrings, calves and feet. At the very end we were asked to flip over but probably spent less than 10 minutes face up for the treatment. By the end of the 60 minutes we felt incredibly relaxed and satisfied with the massage! Overall Aroma Spa is a very solid option for a massage. You might not get all the extra frills of an expensive luxury spa but everything here was fairly priced and well worth the money!

The environment was clean, calming, and quiet -- perfect for unwinding. I booked a 60-minute full-body massage, and it was hands down one of the best I've had. Patrons should be aware this is an Asian massage so focus on muscle joints and overall realignment- not the Western spa but I'll be back the next time I'm in town for sure.
