Too many doctors see themselves above human error. My primary doctor had retired and I had to…read moreschedule my annual wellness exam with a new doctor. Dr Harris was taking new patients so I scheduled with a clear understanding that I was coming for an annual wellness exam covered by Medicare. Unfortunately my appointment was during the flooding in the Austin area, with low water crossings closed prior to public road closings were updated. My travel to the clinic took 90 minutes that is typically 50 minutes. I checked in to the front desk 17 minutes late and Dr Harris made the decision to turn me away regardless of the 3 hour round trip I had just made, white knuckling it all the way. Since I didn't know her, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for the following day. Storms still prevailed but I took alternative routes and arrived 20 minutes before my appointment. Upon checkin I was told this annual physical would not be covered by Medicare. And was given a spread sheet that required fasting for the blood test, another request I made in advance to have before the exam, only to be told she doesn't do that with new patients, requiring a followup visit - I'm guessing for additional costs tacked on to the initial visit. She finally showed up to my room 30 minutes after the office visit was scheduled. This was our first introduction and I knew just by her appearance she was not in good physical health based on her obesity. I proceeded to share with her the appointment confusion over an annual wellness exam that clearly is covered by Medicare and the $215 costs now being required not to mention the return for labs. Then I showed her pictures of my previous days travel showing her the closed water crossings from the morning before, and the 17 minute delay. At that moment I was prepared to leave without an exam based on her 30 minute late entry to my 2nd appointment! I'm done with this "God" mentality in the medical industry and how rules apply to clients but not held by the same doctors that set these rules. And one more point...if you are in the medical industry, especially primary care, you should practice and look the part. One of the questions I was going to ask was her knowledge of nutrition, supplements and peptides along with HRT. I got my answer when the fat Dr Harris walked into my room. Do better.

I first saw Dr. Amar Shah for an in clinic examination and assessment for a ongoing medical issue…read more I had previously seen a similar type of specialist through another hospital the previous year, and it was absolutely horrendous. I felt personally violated. So I was very nervous going into my first appointment Dr. Shah. I chose Dr. Shah based on several good reviews that I read online. His bedside manner was as explained in the reviews. Very kind, very patient, very informative, very "gentle." We discussed all of my options. I felt like he really took his time with me. He and I decided on the best next course of action for me to get well. For only the second time in regards to this very painful and potentially dangerous medical condition, I felt HEARD. Specifically, that Dr. Shah understood my trepidation and concerns about upcoming medical procedures. After my initial consult, somehow something got lost.In translation. Dr. Shah did refer me to another specialist; however, it was not as we had discussed in office. Since my initial visit, I have had a subsequent telehealth with Dr. Shah. Once again he addressed all of my questions. And offering telehealth is so incredibly convenient, particularly when mobility and transportation is an issue. Next step is to readdress a new referral and move forward on my medical journey. I feel like I'm in good hands...physically and metaphorically. As far as the clinic, making an appointment was really simple. Everyone at the front desk is super nice and helpful. My in office appointment was right on time. I set in the very crowded waiting room for about five minutes. I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend Dr. Shah for your medical speciality care needs. He manages to make the really not so fun and scary stuff somewhat not as bad. :)

A year ago last April I had a Aortic Valve heart surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I had…read morerecently moved to Lakeway and needed to find a new Primary Care Physician. I came across Dr. Freeland's name and looked up and read that he went to medical school in the same small town that I went to college, Kirksville, Missouri. If you chose to be a D.O. instead of an M.D., then Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine was a good choice. While I lived in Kirksville I got to know a couple of men who were surgery professors. They were outstanding men of character and counted it an honor to be known by them. So, when I read that this Dr. Freeland was in Lakeway I was looking forward to meeting him and having him be my new Primary Care Physician. My first appointment with Dr. Freeland was as if they had shredded any and all information about me. After my heart surgery the Mayo Clinic sent all my records to Bee Cave Family Practice. Mayo is one of top two Heart Hospitals in the world (you will receive the finest care there.). So, when I went for my initial visit and then filling out all the however many pages just to have my blood drawn for a INR value they were not at all prepared for a 2 minute blood draw and I could be on my way. My appointment finished at around 11:50 and was asked to come back after lunch at 1:00 to take blood sample, I left and came back later and finally got it drawn. The next time I came back I found the front office team to be disorganized. I was most frustrated that they did not call me (even though they said they would) to let me know the INR results. As I stated previously, I was really looking forward to having this doctor, but with several issues for me after only two visits I needed to find someone else. It has been a year since I was at Bee Cave Family Practice. I've written just a couple of times about less than acceptable services, unfortunately, this is one.
