If you…read moreare considering to work with Barker & Son, our recommendation is to have a lawyer review whatever you intend to sign BEFORE you do so. We regret not having that protection. And put EVERYTHING in writing. If you have a verbal discussion, send an email afterward reiterating the content of that discussion, and ask for clarification if Barker & Son disagrees. There were three things we expected from Barker & Son: (1) write a contract that covered everything on the architectural plans we provided (2) manage the project from start to finish, and (3) provide excellent customer service. On all three counts Barker & Son receive a failing grade from us. Because Yelp won't allow us to write a long review, we have to leave out the details we've left on other web sites. This was not our first major renovation - our previous house was an estate sale home that we spent $75K initially renovating - so we have had experience dealing with contractors on major renovations. (That process was unbelievably smooth, but it was in Virginia, so we couldn't rehire the same guy.) We will never consider hiring Barker & Son again.

Once the floor was ready to go in, Rob the flooring manager came out to go over how things would work and to make sure that the product got delivered. On the day of installation I met Brian, who was the installer. After removing the carpet Brian realized that there were some issues with the wood floor underneath. Rob came out again and the two of them came up with a plan. Once Rob left, Brian was on it! He was not only incredibly nice, he was professional, efficient, and fast. He cared so much about making sure the job was not only done right, but was done in a way that would make me happy. In this day and age, good help is hard to find and keep, but it looks like they have found a way to do it. My husband and I love our new floor and we would recommend All Surface and Flooring to any looking for a quality job.

We selected Permajack of St. Louis both because we decided that their solution and methods seemed preferable and because their bid was reasonable ... not the lowest but not outlandish. Everything about dealing with them was professional. Calls were returned promptly. Questions answered quickly. The project was completed as promised and on time. The crew was respectful of our home and property and did everything they could to mitigate the noise and inconvenience. They even went so far as to hook up the washer and dryer when they were done, without being asked, after we expressed some concern about being able to use them while the cement cured. When the crew left, the work area was spotless and the whole process had been much less painful than we expected. I would absolutely recommend Permajack of St. Louis.
