This is a Oriental grocery store that is almost like a warehouse club. Located in a building with four concrete walls and a feel of wholesale, it gets very busy during peak times. I went to check on some Chinese medicine and they had a good variety and selection of them. The lady helping me was nice and she knew what I was looking for right away. C-Mart is a pretty standard asian supermarket. They have a small parking lot which is hard to navigate during busy hours. I believe they have a larger lot available on the weekends to the left of their existing parking lot. The inside is a bit run down but pretty well organized. They have special sales on Sat/Sun but they don't remove the signs on days where the item is not on sale. Make sure to look at all the details on the sign. They also have signs in chinese saying to not use extra produce bags as they will charge you extra if they find you are using them for purposes outside of raw veggies. They have a $5 minimum credit card limit and I believe it is pretty strict. They did not bat an eye when I used a credit card for a purchase that was $5.01. read more

I saw a rat the size of Lizzo just walking around. The air almost smelled chemically and the general vibe is depressing.

C-mart is an interesting place. It's kind of grungy enough that someone who hasn't grown up shopping at the 99 Ranches and Marina foods of the world will be pretty turned off. But then again it's clean enough that the people who have are pleasantly surprised. The side entrance is pretty small and this place gets super crowded during the weekend. It's accessible pretty conveniently by bus. They have special deals for the weekend only which is great. Food seems fairly fresh. The produce and everything is very very clean. There was a spill in the meat section and immediately staff was on it, cleaning it up thoroughly. Worried about cleanliness? Inspect what you buy and wash it before you cook it. Problem solved. Price can't be beat, and I definitely think C-mart is cheaper and cleaner than other options (Jia Ho and Super 88). Selection is pretty good in the dry foods area. Staff mostly speak Chinese - some Cantonese, most will speak Mandarin as well. Broken English also flies. Yea, the staff isn't going to be what you find at a Whole Foods, but C-mart isn't a Whole Foods. They're not really here to help you, they're here to keep the produce stocked. read more

After visiting Ming's, my boyfriend and I came to this CMart. I found the selection of items to be just as impressive. I thought the store was slightly less clean than its neighbor, but just as well organized and reasonably priced. I noticed the meat was freshly cut, and as my boyfriend pointed out, they do not waste any part of the animal. I like that at both locations, you really are getting fresh fish, and the produce is a great value. There were a good number of cashiers on hand here so I imagine checking out doesn't take very long. They also offer parking adjacent to the store or across the street. Easily accessible on the SL4 or SL5. read more

I've been several times to C Mart and the apple selection here last night was not the best, but the Spinach I got seemed fresh. I also bought some dumplings which were discounted and 20 cents cheaper than a supermarket a couple blocks away. They have a nice deal on apples 3 large Fuji for $2.49. Last week when I came the apples were red and delicious after some digging (I can be very picky when it comes to fruits and vegetable selections). Tips/Takeaways: -Grab a cart, explore the aisles -Credit card $5 minimum -Parking is limited so don't arrive last minute at closing, it can get hectic in the mornings and evenings from what I've seen -Lines were not too long when I came on a Sunday around 12pm and a Saturday around 650pm right before 7pm close. -Would recommend return for your weekly groceries read more

C-Mart is Cheap Clean-ish (the meat section smells a little and the floor is wet in some parts) CHEAP, did I mention that already? I was able to get Chinese vegetables for 99cent/ lb on sale. The selection of Chinese vegetables is excellent. The fruits are also very cheap- just make sure they are not too ripe. They also have lots of snacks, meat, seafood, instant noodles etc. Best of all, they accept credit cards and have parking. The parking did look very crowded though. I saw a sign at the cashier that said the first bag they give you is free, and you have to pay for extra bags. I did not have to pay for my extra bags though. I walked away with 2 bags of groceries, and was poorer by a mere $6.26. read more

C-mart is your typical Chinese grocery store. It carries the various Asian grocery items you'd expect from such a store. The store has one of the largest inventory of Chinese food products and vegetables in the area. The fresh produce and fruits are fresh and if you head over on the weekend, you can find awesome great deals. The turn over of the fresh produce is high and therefore you don't see too much stale fresh items. The fish section is very old school type of fish market. All the fish is on ice unlike the modern supermarkets. You can pick which fish you want instead of the pre-packaged stuff. This fish area can be slippery so be careful. The meat section is again old school where the meat is kept in the display cabinet after it is cut up. I shop here weekly or bi-weekly for my vegetables, fruits, seafood and dry products. What I like a lot is the availability of seasonal Asian fruits that are not available at other markets and the price is much cheaper than H-Mart. This place looks dingy and dirty. As with many Chinese supermarkets, the customer service isn't the most friendliest. If you are expecting a pristine place like a H-mart or Whole Foods, want to pay expensive prices and awesome customer service, this is not the place for you. If you want cheap prices and good variety of produce/dry products, you definitely want to shop here. read more

when avocado is sold at 3/$5 elsewhere, you think you got a super deal at Cmart for 10/$5 (2 bags, 5 each) right?? wrong. enter the punch line: i don't always get avocado from them, but when i do, they're all rotten. BEYOND rotten. the flesh is gray, bruised, moldy and...I don't even know how else to describe it. let's just say, out of the 5 avocados in my bag, we were able to scoop out like 5 baby spoonfuls of meat, which I ended up tossing because i'm just too grossed out by the overall quality, or the lack thereof. should've taken a picture, but i didn't want to ruin your dinner too, now that i've ruined my baby's. grrrr so i basically paid $5 for the right to cut them and toss them straight to trash! what seemed to be a super deal, now makes me feel like a dope. boy am i pissed. do they KNOW the fruits have been mistreated/expired hence selling so cheaply??? these things should not even be on the shelves! yeah i would take them back and demand a refund, but then who would drive 45 minutes only to waste more time for them to likely lecture you on caveat emptor (trust me, it's a Chinese market. Formerly a Super 88, I find this to be the best C-Mart out of the 3 in the area. The inventory here is better than the other locations, with a wider selection of vegetables and other groceries. I also find the vegetables here to be fresher, especially when compared to the Chinatown branch. This is also the cleanest C-Mart I've been to. It does get rather crowded on weekends, and the parking lot is tiny with only about 20 spots. I have been able to locate meter parking spots right across the street, so unless you're lugging heavy items like giant bags of rice it might be easier to avoid the parking lot altogether. read more

Only gave this place three stars because I was almost run over by a couple of older patrons who thought a big tall guy was a wonderful target...and made sport of chasing me around the veggie aisles. Seriously, the place is packed on the weekend... The veggie aisles are like a demo derby... but the fresh veggies are definitely worth it. I like the fish section too, but sometimes a challenge getting served, but the fish is fresh and the price is right... As far as the "staples" every sort of tea, lotion, potion, sauce or noodle known to man is available. Before I started shopping here, never knew there were three hundred kinds of dried noodles or even ramen.... The soy sauce selection is wonderful. Don't by much meat here other than the occasional pork belly..... I do miss the bakery and take out food section the old Super 88 used to have. This place is always a stop on the way home from dim sum... parking is always tight, but you can park in one of the businesses across the street on the weekend and then it is easy access to the pike from there. read more

This is not your average supermarket, but the less it is awesome! This is a great spot to get all things Asian food! I'm originally from NYC and used to love going to the little shops in china town, so going here was a great treat. Do not come here expecting your average shopping experience. It can get crowed and you are the minority as a person who only speaks english, but there is such a great variety of products you won't see anywhere else. I've come to this C-mart for the past 4 years living in Boston for all of my Asian cooking needs, and I have to say that this place has yet to disappoint. Keep in mind, this is also...the only real grocery shopping in Chinatown, as it is significantly larger and contains much more variety than its smaller cousin on Washington Street. However, like all Asian supermarkets, come here at your risk, as this place will likely be overrun with non-English speaking shoppers constantly pushing and prodding you towards the aisles containing all sorts of foreign food/vegetables/meats. Also, be prepared to buy things like "beef" or "pork," as there are no specific labels for any parts of the meat. It certainly is clean...by Chinatown standards and has everything you need to impress your Asian parents. So I highly recommend it! read more

When I go into this grocery store, I tend to feel nostalgic because it feels like I am back in my home country, Malaysia. The sound of avid shoppers clammering for the best goods is precisely why you should shop at this venue, it's authentic and its genuine. You can find absolutely anything East Asian in this shop, not just Chinese but also Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese too. They even sell some Malaysian brands as well. Their prices are incredibly reasonable and their variety is impressive. I used to go to H-Mart but everything there is so ridiculously expensive. I can buy the same items at C-Mart for half the price. If you grew up in Asia, like me, or in a Chinese neighborhood in USA, and miss the good old Asian markets, then come down to C-Mart and shop to your heart's content. read more

I am always excited when I happen to pass through the Shawmut area and come upon my favorite Asian supermarket in Boston. They have everything and then some. Fresh seafood, including pick your own crabs. Tonnes of frozen delicacies from China, Thailand, Japan and beyond. They have produce, every kind of sauce imaginable, and plenty of dessert/candy/snacks to choose from. Best of all the prices are very low!!! It's like the Market Basket of Asian grocery stores. Keep in mind, this place is small and crowded. While H-Mart in Burlington may be enormous in size, coming there on a weekend would be just as crowded as C-Mart is daily. For folks that live in Boston and don't want to spend an arm and a leg Ubering to Burlington this is the absolute best game in town. Also, many of the package labels are also in English. Highly recommend reading where your product is from, whether or not it has MSG or any other additives you do not like putting in your body. read more

The effusive reviews here lulled me, so I came in expecting an experience similar to the H-Mart in Burlington. Nope! This place is small and crowded, and sadly lacking in bulgogi. Note to self: read reviews next time as opposed to glancing. That said, this place is actually pretty great: a wide selection of sauces (I snagged a giant bottle of "patis-mansi," which is apparently now a thing), all the greens, noodles, and tofu you could possibly want, a profusion of pork and chicken feet beyond your wildest imaginings, and a freezer section with thinly-sliced meats. The snack aisle is fully stocked, and so is the area with kitchen items. The best part is, the line at the register moves right along. My cashier was very efficient despite her attention mostly being on the anecdote she was delivering very passionately to her fellow cashiers. Bottom line: C-Mart is a good spot for Chinese/Asian cooking ingredients, although the Jia Ho in Chinatown is comparable and less full. A-OK. read more

I have been C- Mart three times, and it was so horrible the supermarket did not improve one thing. The employees are very rude and atrocious that no customers would deserve such treatment. Luckily one employee who has a positive attitude to keep a day going. The groceries were a bit expensive but affordable, anyone can spend it wisely at any giving day. do not park your car in the parking lot. i was there for 15 minutes picking up groceries. i asked the person that works outside in the lot if he sae who hit my car. his response, "i dont speak english" ok so you just spoke english-stupidity. then i proceed inside the market and tell the management ehat happened, asked if they have surveilance cameras in the lot. they said they do but its not clear. clearly they do not want to help. if someone robbed the store im sure it would be clear. people are also extremely rude. dont go to cmart, go to a more sophisticated market like hmart where they understand customer service and actually care to help. read more

You haven't had fresh until you've been in an asian grocery store especially this one. They stock many varieties of live fish. Yes, they keep a tank. You can not get any fresher than that. They will clean and cut it up for you if you like. They have a vast inventory of asian specialty foods and veggies. Their prices are also very competitive as well. The one drawback of this place is their parking. Their parking lot is very small and it gets very crowded here. You may be better off finding street parking and walking a few blocks than to use their parking lot on a Saturday morning. read more

Forget the other two C Marts. If you're a C Mart n00b, this is the one to go to. Lots and lots of veggies, and the store is in what seems to be a little more of a navigable order. I recommend it very much. It's a perfect lunchtime jaunt from my work and from anywhere in the Copley, Chinatown, or DTX area, you can come here at lunch for a quick grocery run. I take people here and show them around because I am nice and know where everything is after three years of Chinatown grocery love. This is a good Chinese market. We have a nearby Super 88 in Allston (someday to be Hong Kong Supermarket) but can't get some things there and won't buy fish or meat because of chronic problems. C-Mart has the Hop Sing Lung oyster sauce we prefer and several offerings of Pixian douban jiang. On the last visit we had help from another shopper with that--a native of Chengdu--and took home an excellent variety that we might have otherwise overlooked. We also shop at Ming's, which has several things C-Mart lacks. It is hard to understand some complaints we see here, since we had no problems--for instance--with checkout staff, who have been friendly and helpful. It may help to learn some Chinese and something about cooking Chinese dishes, but surely that goes along with why people would be likely to shop at C-Mart. read more
